Celadon is a big place to explore, so let's start with some of the smaller things and get them out of the way first. Heading from the PokeCenter to the left and down you will see a red building, this is the Game Corner. The little building on the right is where you exchange coins for prizes, and the bigger building to the right is the Gaming Room itself. Don't go in there just yet, instead head south and then west and then south (so we are as far south as we can go). Heading east along the bottom row of houses, the first is a diner.
Head inside and talk to the guy in the top left hand corner. He will give you a Coin Case. This is used to store coins which are used in the Casino. Head back to the PokeCenter now.
West of the PokeCenter, north of the Game Corner is the Celadon Mansion (Gamefreak Building) . Head inside and talk to the lady on the ground floor to the left when you enter. She will give you a key item, Tea.
Now go back to the PokeCenter and to the right of the center is a gap, head up it and then follow it to the left. When you get to the gap head up and continue to the left. Enter the back of the Celadon Mansion. Head up all the stairs to the roof and enter the room on the top. On a table on the right side of the room is a Pokeball containing Eevee. Grab it and head out. When you exit the building head all the way to the left to find an Ether.

Now head back to the Pokecenter. Continuing west from the Pokecenter, the next building after the Celadon Mansion building is the MegaMart. Prices for this are listed above. Stock up on anything you want. Also be sure to head to the Rooftop. Buy one of each drink. Give these drinks to the little girl. Give her a Fresh Water and you get TM16 (Light Screen). Give her a Soda Pop to get TM20 (Safeguard) and give her a Lemonade to get TM33 (Reflect).

Finally, the building to the left of the Casino. Return here when you have Surf and Surf to the man. Talk to him and he will teach your Pokemon Softboiled. For more information check out the Move Tutors Guide. Now that that's all done let's head to the gym. Heal up and then head to just south of the diner mentioned above. South of this is a tree. Use Cut on it and make your way into the Celadon Gym which uses Grass type Pokemon. Enter the gym and move straight ahead and you will find two trainers:

Cut one of the bushes into the area with the leader, and there are three other trainers listed in this order: the bottom trainer (she also has a Hyper Potion), the trainer to the left of the leader and the trainer to the right.

Heal up, and then talk to the leader, Erika:

Celadon City Gym: Erika
Erika
Speciality: Grass
Pokemon Level Type
Victreebel Level 29 Grass/Poison
Tangela Level 24 Grass
Vileplume Level 29 Grass/Poison
Items Received:
- TM19 Giga Drain
- Rainbow Badge
- Pokemon up to Lv. 50 will obey
- Strength can be used outside of battle

Erika isn't exactly a pushover if you don't have the right Pokemon. Here's where all those whose chose Charmander finally get their worth as he will roast the Grass types here. Otherwise try using a Vulpix/Growlithe caught just to the east of Celadon. Erika's Pokemon uses moves which can paralyze and poison your Pokemon so bring some Paralyz Heals and Antidotes. She will also use Hyper Potions and Full Heals. Tangela and Vileplume have pretty good Defense so will be a bit harder to take down. Tangela will also use Ingrain to recover health as well as Giga Drain. Vileplume also has Petal Dance which causes pretty decent damage but it will confuse Vileplume after three turns.

After you have beaten Erika, heal up because now we have to go deal with the Game Corner. Head there next. Firstly, in the bottom right hand corner, a machine will charge Y50 to add the pictures of the Pokemon in your party to your trainer card. You can choose between Color, Black Outline, Brown or Black and White. Here is my trainer card:

This is purely for looks and has no effect on gameplay. Now, make sure you have the Coin Case before going around and collecting coins. Also make sure you don't talk to the Rocket standing against the wall at the top yet. Here's how to get started with the whole Coin business. Go around and talk to everyone sitting at gaming machines. This should get you 50 Coins. Now systematically walk around pressing A on every square in this room because you find a further 240 Coins. Be sure to get the 100 Coins two spaces to the left of the photo machine. If you want to simply buy Coins then the attendant on the right will sell you 50 Coins for Y1000 or 500 Coins for Y10000. You can also try your luck at the slot machines where you bid either 1, 2 or 3 Coins by pressing down. The more you bid, the better your chances. Then press A when you want the reels to stop. By connecting the symbols in horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines you win Coins depending on what you get. I personally have never bothered with the machines, and find it easier to save up money and simply buy the Coins. Now why on earth are we trying to save Coins? Well head next door into the little room. Here is where you exchange your Coins for prizes.

You might have to leave obtaining these until later in the game when you have more money. For now head back into the Game Corner and talk to the Rocket standing against the wall. This will prompt a fight:

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt
Pokemon Level
Raticate Level 20
Zubat Level 20
Money Earned: P640

After beating him, press A on the poster he was looking at and select yes to flick the switch. This reveals a secret stairway down! Go down the stairs and into Rocket's Secret Hideout.

Rocket Hideout

Here are Maps for Rocket's HQ: Floor 1, Floor 2, Floor 3, Floor 4. On the first floor, head down and to the left, fight the Rocket there:

Continue left and down and grab the Escape Rope off the table. Head back to the start and head down the stairs to B2. Head down and to the left to fight the next Rocket:

Head up from him and down the stairs. Head down the path directly below this and take on the next Rocket:

Machop Level 21
Machop Level 21
Money Earned: P672

Continue south and grab TM21 - Frustration. Now head back up and to the left and down to the maze. When you stand on the little pads you move in that direction until you stop on the yellow pads. (Much like in Chip's Challenge...does anyone remember that?) Anyway, firstly enter the right hand path and step on the pad pointing down to grab a Rare Candy. The only thing to do from here is to head up, so head up. Now go to the middle of the two directional arrows pointing either way and step onto the left one. Now head down and take the right arrow. Head back two squares and down and then to the left. Don't stand on any pads. Now you should see two arrow pads pointing right, step on the top one to take you to the Rocket:

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt
Pokemon Level
Rattata Level 20
Drowzee Level 20
Raticate Level 20

Head south and then to the left and pick up the Blackglasses. Head north and then down the stairs to B4. Head directly left and pick up the Elixer on the table. Head back to the right and then north and then left and grab TM49 - Snatch. Then take on the Rocket (this fight is a must to progress with the story):

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt
Pokemon Level
Koffing Level 21
Zubat Level 21
Money Earned: P672

After beating this Rocket he will drop the Lift Key. Pick it up and head back up the stairs. Then head north up the warp pad, and then north again up the warp pad. Head right and up and the right and go up the stairs to B2. You might want to heal at this point if you are low on health.

Now on B2, head to the left and take the lower pad. Grab the Moon Stone just below you. From the yellow pad you landed on, head left, up, right, down, right, up and go all the way to the right to grab the X Speed. Head back to where the Moon Stone was. Just below where the Moon Stone was, take the warp pad right and backtrack to grab TM12 - Taunt. **From the yellow pad near here, head two space to the right, three spaces down, and step onto the warp pad on the right, which points down. From this yellow warp pad, head directly left onto the warp pad pointing left. From this yellow pad head to the right and down to the two warp pads pointing to the left.* Take the bottom pad and collect the Super Potion. From the Super Potion head north and take either warp pad. Now read from ** to * and return to the two warp pads pointing to the left again. Now take the top warp pad. Head one square to the right and one down onto the warp pad heading to the right. Head up and to the right. Head up and up the stairs onto B1.  There are two trainers in this room, the bottom one listed first:

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt
Pokemon Level
Rattata Level 19
Raticate Level 19

Money Earned: P608
Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt

Grimer Level 20
Koffing Level 20
Koffing Level 20
Money Earned: P640

In the top left hand corner of this room is a Hyper Potion. Grab that and head back down the stairs to B2. From the stairs head south and then east and into the lift. Take it to B1. Take on the Rocket just outside:

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt

Grimer Level 22

Money Earned: P704

Head north and take on the next Rocket:

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt

Drowzee Level 21
Machop Level 21
Money Earned: P672

Now definitely head up and out and heal. On B1 head to the right and down and south past the last two Rockets listed and back to the elevator. This time go to B4. When you exit head to the left and grab the Calcium on the table. Head back to the right and up. There are two more Rockets you have to beat before meeting the leader of Team Rocket, the one on the left is listed first (you must talk to these guys to battle):

Trainer Battle
Team Rocket Grunt
Pokemon Level
Sandshrew Level 23
Sandslash Level 23
Ekans Level 23
Money Earned: P736
Trainer Battle

Arbok Level 23
Money Earned: P736

After beating both of these guys the doors will open. Head up and face the Rocket boss:

Trainer Battle

Giovanni
Pokemon Level
Onix Level 25
Rhyhorn Level 24
Kangaskhan Level 29
Money Earned: P2900

Giovanni is a Boss essentially, but not as hard. The toughest Pokemon is Kangaskhan, I would suggest using your strongest Pokemon against it or use a fighting move on it.
Once you have beaten him grab the Silph Scope he leaves behind. Head to the lift, go to B1 and leave the Rocket HQ. From outside the Game Corner head all the way to the right, cut the bush, head north and in the top right hand corner is a hidden PP Up. Now before we leave Celadon there is one more thing to do, head west out onto Route 16.
