There's a small mart here from which you can buy a few items. The items change after rescuing Lostelle, beating the Elite Four, and purchasing all the items in stock. If you head north, you'll come across some grass, but more importantly the Elemental Move Tutor which will teach your starter one of three new elemental moves.
If you picked Bulbasaur and evolved it to Venusaur, you can teach it Frenzy Plant.
If you picked Charmander and evolved it to Charizard, you can teach it Blast Burn.
If you picked Squirtle and evolved it to Blastoise, you can teach it Hydro Cannon.

To the east of the PokeCenter are two houses. The smaller house is home to the Move Maniac, who will teach your Pokemon any move that they have learned previously through level up. All he needs are two Tinymushrooms or one Big Mushroom. Next door, in the larger house, a man (Bill's friend, in fact) will talk to you when you enter and you'll be interrupted by a biker in the middle of the conversation. It appears that Lostelle, the man's daughter, has vanished and was last seen on Three Island. Head there now.
#2 :: Boon Island - After The Rescue
The large-ish house is in fact the Games House, where you can play two mini games via Wireless Link after you've rescued Lostelle. In the first game, Pokemon Jump, your Pokemon must skip Venusaur's Vine Whip by pressing the A button. Only those Pokemon that are 28 inches or less can partcipate, and moreover, those that swim, burrow or fly are banned. Use the Psydex's search function to find Pokemon who are short enough. In the second game, Dodrio Berry Picking, you control your own Dodrio's three heads to catch falling berries.
