POKEMON FIRE RED AND LEAF GREEN WALKTHROUGH
Route 4
There are no more trainers to fight before the next Pokecenter so head east to two Blackbelts standing facing each other. They will teach your Pokemon Mega Kick and Mega Punch. For more information check out the Move Tutors Guide. Continue east and pick up TM05 - Roar. Head to the right a bit and then jump down into the grass. Below is a list of wild Pokemon. If you are desperate you can skip this and come back after you have healed up in Cerulean City.
When you are finished with Route 4, head east into Cerulean City.
Cerulean City

Now there are a few things to check out in Cerulean before charging for the gym. There is the bike shop, but you can't get one yet (you get a voucher later). The store has Super Potions so stock up. There is a hidden Rare Candy in the back yard of the top left most house. It is on the bottom line between the two flowers. Also note the Police Officer blocking the entrance to the house in the north east part of town. In the house next to the Pokecenter, the man will offer to trade you his Jynx for your Poliwhirl, but you won't have one yet so come back later. You may need to train up a bit before taking on Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader, who uses water Pokemon. If this is the case read Route 24 below and then come back. Pikachu and Bulbasaur are great here. If you don't need any more training, head on over to the gym.
Inside are two trainers who you can fight before Misty.

Misty can be quite tricky, but with a Pikachu and Bulbasaur you can do it pretty easy. You need to have trained quite a bit to beat her with a Charmander or Squirtle. After beating Misty, heal up and head north. You will soon run into your Rival.

Your rival is quite hard this time. Using Pikachu to take out Pidgeotto and Rattata should be easy, and Butterfree should be able to take out the starter with your starter as backup. Abra can be taken out by anything because it only Teleports. After you defeat your Rival you will receive the Fame Checker which allows you to collect phrases from throught the game. Heal up if needed and continue north to Route 24, where there are more trainers and a little side quest to do.
Route 24
As you head north you will notice you are on a bridge - Nugget Bridge. Beat 6 trainers and you get a Nugget! You don't have to beat them all in a row, so you can return to Cerulean and heal if needed. Here are the trainers' details:

Once finished with this area, head north and then to the east onto Route 25.
Route 25
Route 25 has the same grass Pokemon. If you come back later with the rods then the pool is near Bill's house. Make sure you are healed up because there are quite a few trainers in this area. When ready continue east and then north to the trainer closest to the grass.
Continue east and there are two more trainers. Here's the top trainer:
And the trainer below him:
Onix |
Level 17 |
| Money Earned: P612 |
Continuing east is a rotating trainer:
South of him is a Picnicker:
East of her is another Hiker:
Now the next trainer blocks access to an item. Be sure to walk three squares in front of him so when he spots you he moves out of the way of the entrance. Otherwise you can't get the item until you get Cut.
After beating him head up and grab TM43 - Secret Power. Now continue east and battle the next trainer running up and down:
East of him is the final trainer in this area:
Continue east and enter the house. This is Bill's house. Now it looks like nobody is here...but talk to the Clefairy. It's Bill, and he explains he got turned into a Pokemon during an experiment and couldn't get turned back. Agree to help him and when he is inside the machine, press A while in front of his PC and turn him back. Talk to him again and he will give you the S.S. Anne Ticket for helping him.
Bill made the Pokemon storage system, and from now on "Someone's PC" will be "Bill's PC". Now exit and head south and west for a quick route back to Cerulean City. Heal up and beat Misty if you haven't already. You will notice the Police blocking the house has now moved. Head inside and you'll find the people inside have been robbed. Head out the large hole in the back and you'll see a Rocket Member. Take him on!
After beating him follow the yellow path south, when you get to the Cerulean Gym, don't jump the barrier, instead take the right fork. At the bottom head left a bit a continue south onto Route 5.
