POKEMON FIRE RED AND LEAF GREEN WALKTHROUGH

Indigo Plateau

When you arrive at Indigo Plateau, you should start looking at what you will need to fight 5 consecutive battles without the use of a PokeCenter. I suggest you buy quite a few Full Restores, Revives and Full Heals from the PokeMart:

Indigo Plateau PokeMart
Item Cost
Ultra Ball1200
Great Ball600
Full Restore3000
Max Potion2500
Revive1500
Full Heal600
Max Repel700

You will be able to use items in between each battle to restore your party to good health. You will need a strong team to take on the Elites, and one which is well balanced. Save your game before going in and when you are ready advance through to your first opponent...

First things first, every Elite's strongest Pokemon will be holding a Sitrus Berry which recovers 30 HP and they all have Full Restores to use :)

Lorelei Elite Four: Lorelei
Speciality: Ice
Dewgong Surf Level 52 Water/Ice
Hail
Safeguard
Ice Beam
Cloyster Spikes Level 51 Water/Ice
Protect
Hail
Dive
Slowbro Surf Level 52 Water/Psychic
Ice Beam
Yawn
Amnesia
Jynx Ice Punch Level 54 Ice/Psychic
Doubleslap
Lovely Kiss
Attract
Lapras Surf Level 54 Water/Ice
Ice Beam
Body Slam
Confuse Ray

Most of Lorelei's Pokemon are half water, so your best bet is to use Electric attacks. Fighting also works well, but fire is only good against Jynx. Hail is typically her first move. Jynx uses Lovely Kiss to put your Pokemon to sleep, so have the Pokeflute or wake it up. Lapras has Confuse Ray which can be a hinderance. Once you have defeated Lorelei, the door will open up to the next Elite. Use your items to fix up your party before going through. It is your choice if you want to save here or not, but if you do and you can't beat the other Elites, the only way back to Indigo Plateau is to faint all your Pokemon.

Bruno Elite Four: Bruno
Speciality: Rock & Fighting
Onix Earthquake Level 51 Rock/Ground
Roar
Rock Tomb
Iron Tail
Hitmonchan Sky Uppercut Level 53 Fighting
Mach Punch
Rock Tomb
Counter
Hitmonlee Mega Kick Level 53 Fighting
Foresight
Brick Break
Facade
Onix Double-edge Level 54 Rock/Ground
Earthquake
Iron Tail
Sand Tomb
Machamp Cross Chop Level 56 Fighting
Bulk Up
Rock Tomb
Scary Face

Next up is Bruno. Water and Grass type attacks should easily take down his two Onix. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee should be able to be taken down with either Flying or Psychic attacks, but both have high Special Defense. Machamp has good Defense and awesome Attack stats so be careful with it. Its Cross Chop can do some major damage, but again a strong Psychic shouldn't have too much trouble. Once you have beaten Bruno, head through to the next Elite.

Agatha Elite Four: Agatha
Speciality: Ghost & Poison
Gengar Shadow Punch Level 54 Ghost/Poison
Confuse Ray
Toxic
Double Team
Golbat Confuse Ray Level 54 Poison/Flying
Bite
Air Cutter
Poison Fang
Haunter Hypnosis Level 53 Ghost/Poison
Dream Eater
Curse
Mean Look
Arbok Sludge Bomb Level 56 Poison
Iron Tail
Screech
Bite
Gengar Shadow Ball Level 58 Ghost/Poison
Sludge Bomb
Hypnosis
Nightmare

This time it's Agatha. Be careful - remember Ground attacks no longer can hit Haunter and Gengar because of their Levitate ability. If you have a fast Psychic then you can take them out all pretty easy because of their double weakness to Psychic, however Ghost attacks will also do decent damage to your Psychic. Gengar also uses Double Team and Toxic which can be a huge hinderance. Try a Pokemon with Roar or Whirlwind. Psychic and Electric attacks should take Golbat out in one hit. Arbok uses Sludge Bomb which can also Poison your Pokemon. Try maybe a Steel type which is resistant. Agatha switches a lot and will use Full Restores. When you have defeated Agatha, head on through to the next Elite.

Lance Elite Four: Lance
Speciality: Dragon
Gyarados Hyper Beam Level 56 Water/Flying
Dragon Rage
Bite
Twister
Dragonair Hyper Beam Level 54 Dragon
Safeguard
Dragon Rage
Outrage
Dragonair Hyper Beam Level 54 Dragon
Safeguard
Thunder Wave
Outrage
Aerodactyl Hyper Beam Level 58 Rock/Flying
Ancientpower
Wing Attack
Scary Face
Dragonite Hyper Beam Level 60 Dragon/Flying
Safeguard
Outrage
Wing Attack

Finally, it's Lance. This will be the hardest battle. All of his Pokemon have Hyper Beam which can do a lot of damage! However, his Pokemon must then recharge so that gives you an opportunity to attack or revive/recover your Pokemon. Gyarados should be able to be taken down with an Electric attack as it is 4x weak to it. The Dragonairs shouldn't be too hard to take down with an Ice attack. Aerodactyl is very fast! Use a Water or Electric attack, but it will most likely get an attack in first. Dragonite is a real challenge. Safeguard means you wont be able to put any status effect on it. Again, Dragonite is 4x weak to ice but if its health gets too low Lance will use a Full Restore, so try to find a move which can do over half damage in one hit to finish it off. After beating Lance you still have one more battle...the Champion!

Rival Champion: Rival
Speciality: Diversity
Pidgeot Aerial Ace Level 59 Normal/Flying
Featherdance
Sand-Attack
Whirlwind
Alakazam Psychic Level 57 Psychic
Future Sight

Scary Face
Rock Tomb
If you chose Bulbasaur:
Exeggutor Giga Drain Level 59 Grass/Psychic
Egg Bomb
Sleep Powder
Light Screen
Gyarados Hydro Pump Level 61 Water/Flying
Dragon Rage
Bite
Thrash
Charizard Fire Blast Level 63 Fire/Flying
Aerial Ace
Slash
Fire Spin
If you chose Charmander:
Arcanine Extremespeed Level 59 Fire
Flamethrower
Roar

Exeggutor Giga Drain Level 61 Grass/Psychic
Egg Bomb
Sleep Powder
Light Screen
Blastoise Hydro Pump Level 63 Water
Rain Dance
Skull Bash
Bite
If you chose Squirtle:
Gyarados Hydro Pump Level 59 Water/Flying
Dragon Rage
Bite
Thrash
Arcanine Extremespeed Level 61 Fire
Flamethrower
Roar
Bite
Venusaur Solarbeam Level 63 Grass/Poison
Synthesis
Sunny Day
Growth

Your Rival got there first! Oh well, you'll just have to defeat him to become the new Champion! He has a lot of Full Restores so try to find moves which can take them down from full health or from half health to finish them off. Pidgeot should easily be taken out with a decent Electric attack. It's Sand Attack can become a nightmare if it uses it a few times. Rhydon should be taken down with Grass and Water attacks. With Exeggutor, try a Bug attack or a strong Fire attack. It can cause trouble with Sleep Powder and Giga Drain. Gyarados can also be taken out with an Electric being 4x weak to it. Arcanine can be taken out using a strong Water type, Flamethrower can do some decent damage (This is a very elemental battle!). Alakazam can be a challenge too. If you use a Bug attack again it should be fine, or try using a powerful Physical attack. His starter will be probably the toughest out of all of them. Be wary of Fire Blast/Solar Beam/Hydro Pump. Again use an effective element against it and it should be fine.

Congratulations! You beat the Elite Four! However, there is still a lot more to do, so after watching the credits, select continue and you'll end up back in Pallet Town. Now, you should be looking at going to the Sevii Island. The next thing I will cover in the Walkthrough is the Extra areas. If you have followed this Walkthrough, you will only be able to access one of the Extra areas, the Power Plant. If You want to go there now, click the next button. Otherwise, continue on to the Sevii Islands Walkthrough by either hitting the next button on the next page, or using the menu at the top of this page.
