POKEMON FIRE RED AND LEAF GREEN WALKTHROUGH
Saffron City
Great Ball | 600 |
Hyper Potion | 1200 |
Revive | 1500 |
Full Heal | 600 |
Escape Rope | 550 |
Max Repel | 700 |
Upon entering Saffron you will get the idea that something isn't right. Most of the houses are blocked and there are heaps of Rockets lingering around. What this means is there is a big building which you will have to fight through to get them to clear off! Firstly, head to the Pokecenter in the bottom left hand corner. Heal up. East of the Pokecenter, in the bottom right hand corner is a house, inside if you talk to the man he will give you TM29 - Psychic.
Now head to the top right hand corner where you will see two gyms. You can only get into the one on the left at the moment, so head inside and take on the trainers, listed bottom right, left, top right, left:
You can now take on the Fighting Dojo. This is not an official Gym Battle so you will not get a badge, instead you get a Pokemon.
He will now let you choose a Pokemon, on the left is Hitmonlee and on the right is Hitmonchan.
Now let's move on to the most annoying part of the game in my opinon - Silph Co.
Silph Co.

Head to the huge building in the centre of Saffron City.

Head inside and you will see this building is very big, 11 Floors in fact. To complete Silph Co. let's first solve the little puzzle of all the locked doors by obtaining the Card Key, then we can come back and take on each floor one by one to get everything possible. So head into the elevator and head to the 5th floor. Head to the left and fight the Scientist:
After beating him, head down and fight the Rocket:
Arbok |

| Money Earned: P1056 |
Now step on the warp pad next to him. When you get to another room, step back onto the warp pad. Now from on top of the warp pad next to the Rocket, head to the right and grab the Pokeball containing the Card Key.
Now let's go through each floor one by one to get all the items and beat all the trainers. Don't use any warp pads until after clearing each floor.
Floor 2
This floor has the Move Tutor which will teach your Pokemon Thunder Wave. For more information check out the Move Tutors Guide.
Floor 3
On this floor you can find a Hyper Potion.
Floor 4
On this floor you can find TM41 - Torment. In the area with 3 Pokeballs, you can get a Max Revive, a Full Heal and an Escape Rope.
Floor 5

On this floor you can find a Protein and TM01 - Focus Punch.
Floor 6
On this floor you can find an HP Up and an X Special.
Floor 7
On this floor you can find a Calcium and TM08 - Bulk Up.
Floor 8
On this floor you can find an Iron.
Floor 9
On this floor is a lady by two beds, and if you talk to her she will let you rest and fully heal all your Pokemon.
Floor 10
Machoke |
Level 33 |
| Money Earned: P1056 |
On this floor there is a Carbos, a Rare Candy and an Ultra Ball.
Floor 11
On this floor is a Zinc.
Now heal up on the ninth floor, and head back down to the third floor. Head south and open the door on the left. Step onto the first teleporter and get ready to battle your Rival.
An Electric type can easily take down Pidgeot and Gyarados/Blastoise. A Fire attack will take out Exeggcute/Venusaur. A water attack can easily take down Growlithe/Charizard, but Charizard is still very tough. You may want to try a Rock or Ground type.
After beating your Rival, talk to the guy in this room and he will give you a Lapras. Step onto the teleport pad and then head down to take on the Rocket.
Open the door to the right of him and be ready to fight another boss.
After beating him, talk to the President sitting on the sofa. He will give you...your Master Ball! Head back outside to a Saffron city free of Rockets!
Saffron City
There isn't much to do before taking on Sabrina, the Gym Leader of Saffron City. Go to the house to the left of the Gyms in the top line. If you talk to the girl upstrairs in this house and give her a Pokedoll, she will teach one of your Pokemon Mimic. For more information check out the Move Tutors Guide.
When you are ready, head to the Gym on the right. In here there are teleports in each room which lead to another room. In each room is a trainer, and so here is a list of all the trainers:
Haunter |
Level 38 |
| Money Earned: P1216 |
Slowbro |
Level 38 |
| Money Earned: P760 |
Now, to get to Sabrina there are 2 methods. Take the first teleport and then always take the teleport to the left or right of the one you come out on. Alternatively, after stepping on the first teleport, take the top left teleport, then the bottom left, then the bottom left again.

Sabrina can potentially be the hardest Gym Leader. Kadabra first off. It has pretty low defense so a good physical attack will take it down pretty easy. It has Recover and Sabrina has a Full Heal and 2 Hyper Potions in her stock so try to take it down pretty quick.
Mr. Mime is similar, a strong physical attack will rip through it. Venomoth is relatively easy, but it has status altering attacks, which you really don't need when you're about to take on her Alakazam.
Alakazam is very tough. It has very good Speed and Special Attack so will most likely always attack first. Its Psychic is very powerful and will take out your party quick. Again, Alakazam has low defense so again physical attacks are the way to go. It also has Recover to make things a bit more challenging :) Good luck on this one!
Once you have beaten Sabrina, we can now continue on our quest!
