POKEMON FIRE RED AND LEAF GREEN WALKTHROUGH
The Path to Cinnabar
You now have two choices, you can either Fly to Pallet Town and Surf south (this is the easiest way) on Route 21 or Fly to Fuchsia City and travel along Routes 19 and 20 to Cinnabar Island. Note the Seafoam Islands are on Route 20, and contain some awesome rewards if you go through them, I will cover the
Islands in the Route 20 section. Both Routes basically only contain wild Tentacool (90%) and Tentacruel (10%) and dozens of Trainers. I will first cover Route 21 and then 19 and 20. In these sections I will only briefly cover the trainers as it would otherwise be terribly difficult to describe.
Route 21
This is one of the two alternate Routes to Cinnabar Island. This method is shorter. If you take this Route be sure to go to the Seafoam Islands later in the game for some great benefits, mainly Articuno. Here's how to reach Cinnabar via Route 21: Fly to Pallet Town and head south and Surf. In the grass to the right you will find the following Pokemon:
Surfing south you will find the following Trainers:

Pretty soon you will reach Cinnabar Island.
Route 19 and Route 20
This is the other method which you can use to get to Cinnabar Islands. It
contains the Seafoam Islands but is a lot longer. Fly to Fuchsia City, and head
south. There are two trainers:
You can go fishing here if you wish. Otherwise jump in the water and head on through to the Seafoam Islands by swimming south. Here is a list of all the trainers on Routes 19 as you head south:
After these three Swimmer F's head west along Route 20. You will encounter the following trainers:

You will eventually reach land with a cave entrance. Enter the cave...

Head to the right and use Strength on the boulder to push it into the hole. Head back to the entrance and head north. Pick up the Ice Heal. Head north but don't go down the ladder, instead head right and push the second boulder into the nearby hole. Jump down that hole. Push the rock again into the nearby hole. Do this once more and jump down the hole. You should land in water and the current will carry you to another area.
Surf up, and back onto land. Head left and down and pick up the Ultra Ball. Head back north and up the next ladder you come to. Go around the path, skip the ladder and water (it's too rough to surf anyway), until you get to a boulder puzzle. Labelling the boulders from left to right, A, B, C & D (C & D are the two together), push B all the way to the left. Push A down into the hole. Then push D all the way up, and C down one place, then left into the hole. Jump down the hole, and the water should now be calm. Surf north. Now be sure to have PLENTY of Pokeballs, and be well healed. We are about to try to catch our first legendary - Articuno.

Rock moves are great to take Articuno down with a 4x weakness, Electric and Fire also work nicely. Legendary Pokemon are quite hard to catch, but if you get it down to very low health and inflict it with a status such as sleep, or paralysis it makes it a lot easier. All legendaries are very strong, and there is only ONE in the entire game, so be sure to catch it. DO NOT USE YOUR MASTERBALL. There are much tougher Pokemon you should use it on.
After beating or catching Articuno, Surf and head up the ladder. Continue around and down to the next ladder up. Head to the right and grab the Pearl. Continue to the right and go up the ladder. To the left of this ladder is a Water Stone. Head back down the ladder and north up the next ladder. South and to the right is a revive. Head north of the ladder and push the boulder into the hole next to it. Jump down it and push it again into the next hole and follow it. Again, you should have landed in water.
Head up the steps to the right onto land, and head up the ladder. Head up the next ladder. Head south and up the next ladder. Head south and out of the Seafoam Islands! Continue west to Cinnabar, along the way there are more trainers:
