POKEMON FIRE RED AND LEAF GREEN WALKTHROUGH
Route 16
If you head west you'll see Snorlax is blocking the way, so head back a bit and cut the tree and enter the area above him. There is grass here where you can find the Pokemon above.
Skip these guys if they are too hard and come back to them later. This part of the game is meant to be done later on but it's easier if you get the next HM now. So head west through the house and then enter the small house on the other side. Talk to the girl inside and she will give you HM02 - Fly. This allows you to Fly any town or city you have been to before. So boot it up, teach it to a bird and use it to Fly to Lavender Town. If you don't want to use Fly you can use the underground path east of Celadon City.
Lavender Town
With your new Silph Scope, you can see ghosts in the Pokemon Tower! So let's head inside the large tower on the right hand side of town.

On the first floor, simply head up and to the right up the stairs to the next floor. Head up a bit and you will see your Rival waiting to fight:
Pidgeotto now knows Whirlwind which will switch between your Pokemon. This can often be annoying more than anything. If your Rival has Gyarados it will use Thrash which can do big damage but it will confuse itself after a while. Electric Pokemon can take both of these down pretty easy. Exeggcute is pretty easy, anything basically can take it down and it doesn't do much, as is Growlithe. Ground, rock or water attacks will take care of him. Kadabra has low defense so target that with some Physical attacks, but be careful of its high Spec. Atk. which can do quite a bit of damage. The starter should be pretty easy to handle, simply use an opposite element or look at the battle chart to find a good attack against them. Head up to the next level and this is where the fun begins.
Head up and fight the Channeler:
Gastly |
Level 23 |
| Money Earned: P736 |
Grab the Escape Rope next to her and head back and then down and the right. There are two Channelers here, fight the top one first, then the bottom:
Gastly |
Level 24 |
| Money Earned: P768 |
Gastly |
Level 22 |
| Money Earned: P704 |
From her head east and up to the next level. Again two Channelers, the top and bottom are:
Gastly |
Level 22 |
| Money Earned: P704 |
Grab the Max Ether between them. Take the path just above the Max Ether and head left to grab the Awakening. South of the Awakening is a Great Ball. Head up to the next Channeler:
Gastly |
Level 24 |
| Money Earned: P768 |
Continue up the stairs. Head up, right and take on the next Channeler:
Gastly |
Level 24 |
| Money Earned: P768 |
Below her is another Channeler but she doesn't want to battle. In the centre of this room is a white area, and if you step onto it it will fully heal your Pokemon. In the center is a Cleanse Tag so grab that. To the left of this area is another channeler:
Gastly |
Level 22 |
| Money Earned: P704 |
South of her is another:
Haunter |
Level 23 |
| Money Earned: P736 |
To the left of her is a Nugget. Head to the right side of the room and above the stairs is...take a guess:
Haunter |
Level 23 |
| Money Earned: P736 |
Head up the stairs. Now head south and grab the X Accuracy. Head up and around and fight the next three Channelers:
Gastly |
Level 24 |
| Money Earned: P768 |
Gastly |
Level 24 |
| Money Earned: P768 |
Before the exit grab the Rare Candy. As you exit, you will find a ghost. Silph Scope will detect it and you will be put into battle against Cubone's mother, a Lv. 30 Marowak. You can't catch it so make it rest in peace and move on. There are three Team Rocket Members guarding something...
After they all run off, talk to Mr. Fuji. He will take you back to his house. Talk to him and he will thank you for saving him and give you the Pokeflute.
Now make your way all the way back up to the top of the Tower and use the Itemfinder where Mr. Fuji stood. A few stars will fly about and you'll find a Soothe Bell.
There are a range of things to do now, you could head into Saffron City, but I think this is harder than what this walkthrough does so I will cover it after Fuchsia City. I suggest going to Fuchsia first, and there are two ways to get there, both involving waking up the sleeping Snorlax using the Pokeflute recently gifted by Mr. Fuji. I think that the Cycling Road is easier, and Route 12 is harder. I will start with the Cycling Road way (Route 16) and then cover the Bridge way (Route 12). It is up to you which way to go, going both ways is often good for training and getting everything. If you choose Route 16, read below, if you choose Route 12, skip ahead to Route 12.
