Chikorita The heroes arrive in Johto, seeing Suicune just before they reach New Bark Town. Searching for Nurse Joy to register for the Johto League, the heroes arrive at Professor Elm's Lab and become acquianted with the Johto Professor, friend and rival of Oak. They discover Team Rocket has stolen a Totodile, one of the Johto Starter Pokémon. After a full-out battle between good and evil, Ash retrieves the Totodile and registers for Johto, beginning his new journey by heading to Violet City. |
| 120 | The Double Trouble Header Who's that Pokemon? Heracross The group meets Casey, a new trainer and baseball fan who recently received her starter, Chikorita. Casey challenges Ash to a match, but Chikorita, Pidgey and Rattata are no match for Charizard. When Casey runs off crying, Team Rocket trick Casey into thinking Ash cheated, so Casey returns for a rematch. Chikorita gives Pikachu some trouble, but Team Rocket steal them both before they can finish. Casey realizes Team Rocket are evil, and teams up with Ash to beat them. |
| 121 | A Sappy Ending Who's that Pokemon? Donphan Noticing a bunch of dead trees, the heroes meet Ranger Woodruff, who explains that Pinsirs have invaded Heracross territory in search of sap, killing the forest. After a brief battle with the Pinsir, the heroes head to the Pinsir forest to discover that Team Rocket has set up a giant Pinsir robot to suck the Pinsir's trees dry. A Heracross that followed the heroes fights the Robo-Pinsir, making it explode and blasting of the Rockets. With problems solved, Heracross chooses to join Ash. |
| 122 | Roll On, Pokémon! Who's that Pokemon? Hoothoot Ash comes across a Donphan and is eager for Heracross to win a real battle, but Donphan really belongs to Donphan herder Rochelle. Rochelle uses her Donphan to find the precious stone Amberite. Team Rocket steal one of Rochelle's Donphan to try and find amberite for some cash, but they steal the one Donphan who can't find Amberite yet, so Rochelle and Team Ash appear and stop Team Rocket. Ash then challenges Rochelle's most experienced Donphan with Heracross, but loses. |
| 123 | Illusion Confusion! Who's that Pokemon? Bellossom The gang come across Gary, who tells them that they can't get through a nearby Forest of Illusions without a Hoothoot. Luckily, the kids rent a Hoothoot from Hagatha, because although it pecks Ash in the head, it likes Misty. Hoothoot isn't serious about its job until Ash chews it out as Misty is tortured with illusions of bugs. Hoothoot then gets serious, revealing some Haunter and Gengar are causing the illusions. Before leaving the forest, the heroes shoo out the ghosts and Team Rocket. |
| 124 | Flower Power Who's that Pokemon? Spinarak Arriving in Florenda City, the heroes meet Bailey and her dancing Bellossom, Bell and Bella, practicing for a Pokémon Exhibition. Although the Bellossom are having problems mastering their Loop-de-Loop finale, they use their dance moves to defeat Team Rocket. When the Rockets return to steal the Exhibition's Pokémon, Pikachu's newly learned dance moves and Bellossom's mastering of the Loop-de-Loop lead Team Ash to victory and Bailey performing well in the Exhibition. |
| 125 | Spinarak Attack Who's that Pokemon? Snubbull In Catailia City, Team Rocket are recreating the thefts of the legendary Black Arachnid. As the Rockets announce their next theft (stealing a trophy from a rich man at midnight), the heroes and Pokémon join up with the descendants of the Jenny and Spinarak who caught the Arachnid to secure the house. Team Rocket outsmart the cops by hiding in the attic, but while trying to escape, they get caught in Spinarak’s web and lose their treasures. Helping yet again, Ash continues to Violet. |
| 126 | Snubbull Snobbery Who's that Pokemon? Stantler Arriving in Palm Hills, the trainers find a missing Snubbull, and return it to her overprotective master. Although Snubbull lives a pampered life of luxurious rooms, rich food and a pending marriage, she really just wants her own freedom. Team Rocket use Meowth’s tail to lure Snubbull and quickly escape with their latest catch. Showing her power and energy by defeating Team Rocket, Snubbull is given more freedom. Instead, she runs away, following the trio for adventure. |
| 127 | The Little Big Horn Who's that Pokemon? Totodile Brock finds an injured Stantler and tries to use his skills as Breeder to befriend and help it, but a Stantler herd chases the kids away. When the herd attacks again, Brock realizes they are an illusion from the injured Stantler, whom Brock befriends, heals and releases to its mountain home. Team Rocket use a Robo Stantler to net the real one, but Onix destroys the Robot as Stantler’s herd sends Team Rocket flying. Brock then says goodbye to Stantler, who reunites with its family. |
| 128 | The Chikorita Rescue Who's that Pokemon? Quagsire Finding a stubborn Chikorita, Ash attempts to make his latest capture, but instead Charizard injures Chikorita in battle. Healed at the Pokémon Center, Chikorita is stolen by Team Rocket and taken up to the mountains. Ash rescues Chikorita, who runs off just as a dangerous snow storm starts up. Ash is forced to head out into the storm to once again save Chikorita, who helps Ash defeat Team Rocket. Chikorita then decides to join Ash on his journey, forming a bit of a crush on him. |
| 129 | Once in a Blue Moon Who's that Pokemon? Ledyba In Cherrygrove, the heroes are arrested for battling a Quagsire that stole the GS Ball. Jenny explains Quagsire borrow round objects that return downstream symbolizing good luck. Ash trails Quagsire to Blue Moon Falls, where Team Rocket steal many of the Pokémon. Bulbasaur and the Quagsire then stop the Rockets, and the heroes watch the Quagsire ritual of tossing the objects toward the moon. With the GS Ball returning last to town, Ash is said to receive the greatest of luck. |
| 130 | The Whistle Stop Who's that Pokemon? Blissey With a bridge knocked out by Team Rocket, the heroes are helped across by Arial, who commands her Ledyba using a whistle. Team Rocket steal her whistle but Pikachu scares off the Ledyba when it attacks the Rockets. Both sides head off in search of the missing Pokémon but Team Rocket find the Ledyba first and are carried away to Team Ash. Arial commands her Ledyba by herself to defeat Team Rocket, and with new confidence, she starts to train her Ledyba without her whistle. |
| 131 | Ignorance is Blissey Who's that Pokemon? Togepi In Happy Town, the trio visits a Pokécenter with a clumsy Blissey and end up in bed without dinner. When Team Rocket come to steal the Center's food and Pokémon, Jesse is surprised to find Blissey, who she befriended in and helped graduate Pokémon Nurse School. With Blissey in trouble for giving Team Rocket the Center's food supply, guilty Jesse returns to clear Blissey's name. Ash defeats the Rockets for his meal, but Jesse gets the feeling of knowing she helped an old friend. |
| 132 | A Bout with Sprout Who's that Pokemon? Cleffa The trio visit Violet City's Pokémon School to help Ms. Priscilla teach and show off their Pokémon to the kids. As everyone leaves for a trip to Sprout Tower, Ash chases after Zacky, who wants to catch hiding Pikachu. Zacky accidently catches a Bellsprout, but Pikachu shows up to send Team Rocket flying to the Tower. Smoking out the people, the Rockets grab Pikachu while trying to saw down the Tower's support. Zacky makes amends with his Bellsprout and Ash to defeat the Rockets. |
| 133 | Fighting Flyer with Fire Who's that Pokemon? Marill Arriving at Violet Gym, Ash finds Pikachu stolen by Team Rocket before he can even enter the building! Falkner easily rescues Pikachu and after revealing himself as the Leader, the battle begins. Although Chikorita is beaten by Hoothoot's Fly, Pikachu defeats both Hoothoot and Dodrio using electric attacks. However, weakened Pikachu is no match for Pidgeot's Whirlwind. After taking a beating, Charizard uses Seismic Toss to defeat Pidgeot and earn Ash his first Johto Badge. |
| 134 | For Crying Out Loud Who's that Pokemon? Sentret The group find a crybaby Marill, but Team Rocket steal it and Pikachu before they find its trainer. The Pokémon escape but are soon washed away with Misty by a river. As the boys meet Marill's trainer Willamina, Misty has to protect the Marill from Beedrill swarms, thunderstorms and broken bridges while trying to make friends with the Pokémon. Misty's efforts succeed, as Marill helps the group defeat Team Rocket again, but she then has to say goodbye to her new friend. |
