Guitar Hero, DDR, anime, IRC, IMs, coding for the site
Family
Just me, mom, dad, and the dog. No siblings.
Sleep Style
My day starts at 6:30am and usually ends around 10pm.
Language Skills
English, Latin, Java, PHP, and basic C++
Works of Literature
I enjoy the Harry Potter series (read 'em each once), the Imponderables series (question-answer format, very interesting), and I follow the story/antics of MegaTokyo as well. And, of course, the 5-part Hitchhiker's Trilogy is the best series ever. ;P
TV Shows
I'm a SciFi fan; Stargate SG-1 (especially before RDA left), Stargate Atlantis, Doctor Who, Heroes, Eureka, Lost; good stuff. I don't care for "reality TV" much.
Anime
I'm obsessed. The Kin of the Stars series was my first, and I love it. Besides that, I really liked Last Exile, Eureka Seven, Read or Die, Azumanga Daioh, FLCL, and of course The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Hidden Talents
I can play the piano fairly well, I'm teaching myself to play the guitar, and I can solve a Rubik's Cube in two to four minutes. I'm also an amateur magician, and know a few simple tricks, some of which can be quite profitable.
As you probably saw on the main page, my laptop has died. The hard drive has completely failed me, probably due to physical internal damage. CHKDSK locks up, and FIXMBR is unable to write a new Master Boot Record to the partition. There is a slim chance I might be able to recover some data off the drive if I can get it hooked up.
Luckily, my new laptop will have a spot for a second drive. My old laptop was an AMD 1800+ with 512MB of PC2100 RAM, 64MB spent on video processing, and a 60GB hard drive. The new laptop is a Pentium Core 2 Duo, 2.0GHz with 2MB cache and 800MHz FSB (w00t!), 2GB of PC5300 RAM, a dedicated 128MB video processor, and an 80GB hard drive. It's also ready for Wireless N when that becomes more popular over the next couple of years. Also, it has Vista (;.;).
I can't decide if I'm going to bother downgrading back to XP or not. Vista is getting out there more, even though most people (myself included) don't like it. My college is switching all the lab computers to Vista over summer break. As a CompSci major and someone who works at the Help Desk, it's rather important that I know my way around in Vista, and it's been annoyingly difficult for me the few times I have tried to do anything.
Either way, the laptop was quite a steal, and I picked up a new hard drive for my desktop too (500GB for $100!). Sadly, I won't have access to any of this tech until I go home for Christmas break; so much for using my laptop to study of finals in 3 weeks.
