I like it because of the skill and thought required. Assembling the best possible team, always trying to do a little better than before and then a new game is released and you must think up new strategies. It's really all great fun.

It is indeed a game of strategy, and my reasons for liking it are for all intents and purposes the same...

I like it because its fun trying to catch those rare ones..and everytime a new region comes out i always want to see all the new pokemon. Also, the t.v. shows and movies are pretty nice too. i want to know why some people say its for babys. Do they think there too cool for pokemon or something?

the game is far more complex and strategic than the average person who has never tried it or only played it when they were 6 would think, which is why there is that misconception... the TV show/movies however are quite juvenile and far from anything i would call intellectually stimulating and only remotely qualify as "entertaining" IMO...

I like Pokemon because of the stratigy involved, the adventure of each game, occasionally having to memorize every pokemon, and every new world, and how to conquer it. and I like Pokemon mostly because it has given me something to do for the six years

I like pokemon because it's like having your own pets. I know I'm not the only one who bonds with their pokemon after a certain amount of time. It's like living in exotic life filled with...adventure.

why do i like pokemon? hmm
Its just fun trying to catch every pokemon and when you eventually do you sigh and can stand tall and say I am a Pokemon Master. 8)
Then you put the best team together you beat other people.
Its all strategy like a sport. In battles you have to think fast on your feet like trying to make a goal in soccer(football in other countries) And training is like training for those big soccer(football) games.
You just cant leave your pokemon training skill the same. You have to get as good as you can get.
Like in soccer(football) you have to keep getting better.
*wow i feel insparational*
this is a good question i think it should be stickied(just my opinion)

i totally bond with my pokemon too, right there with you swellowluvr. its like having an alternate life, where you have control. you can make decisions and train your pokemon into the most powerful beings ever. pokemon rules 8)

I like it because it makes us think, it teaches us things (braile), and the pokemon are cute (or at least some are cute)!

I think that we all (you agree or disagree) like it for you can literally just step out of this world and think about something else for awhile. I believe the strategy is a big part of it though.

I like Pokemon for the games. The gameboy games were the best.

well i liked pokemon games because it was an RPG(i like them) and other reasons are:
I like legendaries and some other pokemon like chansey.
There are alot of legendary pokemon mysteries to solve
Evolving..i liked evolving things
I like getting invincible moves
And I like the trainer card changing colors in the new games like rse and frlg.
My friend got me to play his game and then i found out its fun and then i started buying them.
There includes some reasons for the games that also go for the anime.

I like it becuse of the reasons stated above plus the fact that you never really run into the same poke twice and u have to put in the effort to train your pokes properly, thats wat makes it worthwhile in the end.

I like pokemon for many reasons. Mostly, as I have learned over the years, it's for how many options you have. Three hundred-some creatures, and you can only take six to plow through the rest of the competition. That's a lot of room to use whatever you'd like. Also, it's because there are so many different kinds of pokemon, however weird the thing is ({exeggcute} and , anyone?)
There are also so many different ways to play. Catch all the pokemon, or build the ultimate battling team. The choice is yours!
Lastly, because every battle requires you to bring something new to the table. When I was young, I actually understood the need to balance your team, and would laugh at my friends who whined about being unable to beat the elite four with their lvl. 70 Charizard and lvl. 10 everything else. It requires a lot of thought and planning.
Oh, and the Anime ruined the franchise, no matter what you say. It got stupid, so people started thinking pokemon in general was stupid. The first season was good, but it went downhill from there.

I'm surprised nobody has said this yet but: the magic!
The ability to do what can't be done in real life. To step away from reality and spend time in a fantasy world of glorious dream where fire-breathing lizards, electric mice and liquid foxes are all normal life.
I thrive upon imagination, so for me, Pokemon isn't just a game, or a TV series - it's a way of life, an obsession. I love Pokemon like i love food - i can't get enough and i could die without it.
For without Pokemon what is this world? Think of the things children would not have learnt. Think of the millions of imaginations that would not have been nurtured.
and for all this i can only say: Thankyou. Thankyou to the creators of Pokemon, thankyou to everyone who lent a hand in it's production, and mostly thankyou to the millions of fans that have keot the magic alive. Thankyou

Because you can almost establish a relationship with the pokemon and trainers, also it is a brilliant RPG with excellent ideas and generally is a very happy game.

Amen. All hail Game Freak forever!!! Anyway, I like Pokemon because of the reasons stated by others, and because you can get a huge amount of satisfaction from getting an elite team, and the thought of my future elite battlers makes me want to go and begin training!

Thank you for reviving this thread with a one sentence post. =/
Anyway, I like Pokemon, because back in the late 90's, there was this thing called "Gigapet." You had to feed it, and clean up its poop, and it slept and everything. In my early preteen years, video games that involved taking care of something and raising it fasinated me. Pokemon is like a Gigapet to me. Although you don't feed it and clean up after it, you do raise it and in the game, it learns to love you, and some pokemon eventually evolve through this process. That is the reason I like Pokemon. Not because I liked RPGs back then, but because it was fun raising a videogame pet.
