Same here. I'm still trying to decide on training a new Feraligator.
Edit: I just read this in the original post:
Quote: the gym leaders would be using level 100 ev trained pokemon, so be serious when challenging them, and abuse won't be tolerated (from either party)
I'm sorry but I may have to back out.

You don't need to level your pokemon to 100 - wifi does that for you. EV training is easy, and if you haven't EV trained before, now is a great time to learn.
Emin Jofit wrote: And the only problem may be that we all know each others Pokemon by now just by looking at the list. We'll just have to be completely objective.
Posting the pokemon being used is unusual, but a choice of the battle league leaders.
Emin Jofit wrote: And are we going to narrow it down to 8 gyms and an Elite Four? Right now we'd have everyone in a position with some room to spare.
There's nothing wrong with having more than 8 gyms. We can decide whether to require 8 badges or all of them before facing the Elite Four.
Emin Jofit wrote: Plus, I don't know how many of the people signed up are even still around. I haven't seen KOL40 around the forums for months now. Or JHShadon. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I'm not sure about everyone we initially had.
Yes - which is why I suggest someone get this moving. Seeing as EvilPenguin and Registeel_Rocks haven't posted in this thread, you could probably take charge, set some dates for having teams ready, etc. People will make teams to deadlines.
Emin Jofit wrote: And in regards to the tournament, do you guys wanna use your gym teams or any Pokemon goes just to test battling viability? I would think we'd use our Gym Pokemon, but it's up to you kids.
There are two types of testings: one to determine whether a team deserves a gym, and a tournament to determine which gyms should be the Elite Four. Testing for gym team viability is usually done by a tester with a standard competitive team (the aspiring gym leader must perform well, but not necessarily win). A tournament for the Elite Four only makes sense if gym leaders use their teams against each other. I can help test gym leaders on shoddy but I don't have the time to lead the entire battle league.

Okay, I guess I'll start setting deadlines now, so y'all betta lissin up. Here's the deal: teams must be trained and ready by Sunday, April 25th that gives everyone who isn't done 3 weeks at least to finish that up. C'mon, it takes an hour to train a Pokemon well, and I'm giving you roughly 504 hours to train. If you aren't done by then and don't have a legitimate excuse, you're out. You will need to post in this thread to acknowledge that you are indeed ready. The tournament can be sometime around then, and so not to do it in the middle of the week, it will be Saturday, May 1st. This gives everyone ample time to prepare. If something comes up (cannot meet deadlines, missed the tournament, etc.), PM me and we can work out the problems. During this process, you may want to talk to one another a little. Ask other potential gym leaders for advice (how to EV train, good strategy, items to use, etc) so we can all be successful leaders if we get to that point. If everyone posts that they are done before the deadlines, I will adjust the dates so we aren't all waiting around forever. Hell, we could have this wrapped up by next weekend if you guys get on the ball. I'm going to post another list of all our leaders and I will cross you off as you inform us that you are ready, k? And you guys have to help me out a litte; if you know the whereabouts of our "missing" leaders, tell someone so we can see if they're in or out. I'll send a few PMs, but I don't know how many actual responses I'll get. Now go get to work!
KOL40 - "Shadow" No DS.
Shina Taji - Fire Complete; testing finished.
Cactuar - Johto Pokemon In progress
Chef - Heavyweights Not participating.
JHShadon - Fire/Fighting Not participating.
Electrike! - Dark/Electric Not participating.
Psychic_Espeon_16 - Water In progress.
/vXv\ - Sandstorm Complete; testing finished.
Dan Roswald - Levitate Not participating.
Emin Jofit - The Color Blue In progress (2nd team).
Steel_Eel - Water/Ice Not participating.
Lv. 100 Sceptile - Grass Needs a DS.
PikachuMaster - Electric In progress.
Weavile Lord - Dark In progress.
Daemiian - Eeveelutions In progress.
Mektar - Heaven and Hell Complete; testing finished.
P.S. If we get one more person, we'll be able to have the normal 8 leaders and 4 Elite Four We can just make the last E4 the champion unless we get 2 more. Tell your friends.
EDIT: It may be easier for me to just indicate status next to each name as opposed to crossing out each person.

I'm going to try and have my team all finished and polished by then. Might be a few days after, a lot of things going on in my life right now. Play practice for my senior play, which is Once Upon A Mattress, as well as filling out stuff for college.

Nice job and did you (or someone else) already test battle those gym leaders?

I did not. I thought we were skipping test battles and just doing a tournament to decide placing. We've had two more dropouts now, so I don't think testing/elimination will be necessary. Quite the opposite, actually, we might want more people. :/

Testing is not to eliminate people, it's to make sure they actually have a real team. Someone could make a nice theme team that is really easy to defeat; I swept an entire Fire Gym team (6 pokemon) with a Mismagius once. (Seriously, I led with Mismagius, and never used a different pokemon).

I see what you mean. Well the, I guess I'll start testing. I'm not much of a good battler myself, but I think I know what I'm doing. Hell, I'm gonna have to if I'm being a Gym Leader.Basically, if you want to be a Gym Leader and you read this PM me for a test battle. I don't have a deadline for test battles, but try to get those done as soon as you can. To recap for all of you, the rules are as follows:
6 v 6
Lv. 100 Battles
Single Battles only (unless a Gym Leader specifically requests doubles; challengers must agree to this as well)
No Ubers
No hacked Pokemon
Sleep Clause
Item Clause
Species Clause
OHKO Clause
Evasion Clause (maybe)
Freeze Clause
Sion9, if you can think of any other guidelines/rules etc. that we may wnat to implement, don't be afriad to post them.
I myself am working on a secondary Gym Team right now, so I'll be using the first in test battles with you guys, but I may change it up every so often after the fact.

I'll be ready in a few days. But one question, does Water Spout count as a OHKO? I don't think so but its just to clarify.
EDIT: Okay, good. I just thought that because it can make a Pokemon faint with one hit if the user has full health. Thanks.

No, it doesn't. OHKO moves are Horn Drill, Sheer Cold, Fissure, and Guillotine. Everything else is a normal attack. Eruption's fine, too.

I think you forgot Freeze Clause...why is Evasion Clause a maybe? Aren't gym teams competitive teams with a theme?

Actually the point is to use a standard OU team, because that's what challengers will be using. There's a certain skill level that challengers should have to win, which is what makes a battle league fun. So the idea is that you're testing the gym team to make sure it's not too easy to defeat. If you're not sure what I mean I can test battle you on Shoddy.

An OHKO move is a move that, if it hits, guarantees a OHKO. Water Spout does not guarantee a OHKO.

Ah, yes I did forget Freeze Clause. And I put Evasion as a maybe because I didn't know if any of our leaders/anyone who may ask to join were going to be using Double Team etc. I didn't think it would be very fair for a challanger to come in, use Minimize a billion times and then wipe out each Leader because we cannot hit him. I think we should leave some rules up to the Leaders themselves, and the rules can be presented to challengers before the fight.
And when I said I'm not that good of a battler, I misspoke. I don't breed for IVs or anything (or even the right natures in some cases) so my Pokemon aren't the strongest. I'm not that bad at planning/strategizing, it's just that my Pogeymanz aren't the strongest.
Also, we only have 7 people who are still in as of right now. We need some more advertising or something so that we get signups (I don't feel 7 people constitutes a Gym League complete with an Elite group at the end). We need to start putting links in our sigs and stuff. We have one person advertising for us right now (thanks, Steel_Eel), so we need more interest. Dunno bout you guys, but I want this to succeed. We could really use a little moderator support.
And I got to thinking; if we needed to, we might be able to have certain Leaders make more than 1 team, one stronger than the other. Then, when a challenger has beaten us all once, he would fight the stronger teams of those leaders, which would make up an Elite Four. I know that might be really hard and kinda impractical, but I know some of our potential leaders are just great battlers who could afford to train multiple powerful Pokemon teams. I'm working on a secondary Gym Team now, but that was just going to be extra Gym support.

There is no such thing as freeze clause in wifi. That exists on shoddy, and it exists because they program the game to prevent it from happening. Being frozen is a totally random chance from moves that freeze. Therefor there is no way to enforce a freeze clause. Say i hit u with an ice beam and freeze you and you switch out for salamence. Are you suggesting that i can no longer use ice beam because there is a POSSIBILITY i might freeze you again?
PS- battling my friend saturday he hit me with an ice beam that both critted AND froze my latias. Needless to say i RAGED HARD!!!!!!

Yes. Nah, I'm just busting your balls. I forgot Freeze was only a Shoddy thing. I'm trying to get into that now because a couple friends are good at it. Oy. I'm getting too old for this crap. Everyone has officially responded to me with an "in" or "out" so you guys need to finish up your teams when possible. When you finish, PM me and we can start test battling. Get to it, kids!

I didn't mean when you specifically are finished PM me, KOL. That was more of a broad statement for everyone involved. If you're done, then neat, we'll battle soon. Everyone else needs to finish is what I was saying.
