Why is this in r/b/y when you can only breed in the other games?
You have a point, but it's kind of just a poll about Ditto in general, who is RBY. I'm going to leave it here just because it has something to do with RBY.

Same as jacobwil, it's stats are really bad, a LV.75 Ditto has about the same stats as a LV. 40 Final Evolution.

I will now say that Ditto rocks! It does, but I thought breeding was for the other games. Anyway, it's a breeding hero, and I used one to capture Lugia. I only used it a little.

I use it for training and breeding. It made training my Dragonite much easier.

I like ditto . But it would be cool if it evolved.
It is in my party. Ditto is cool. But you have to waste an attack turn to transform.

Last time I checked it does, though since it is so slow and it uses a turn to use transform it is not a very good fighter.

Are you sure? I tested it with my LV. 5 Elekid and my Lv. 52 Marowak.
I found a wild Ditto (LV.67), switched to Elekid, Ditto transforms, then I switch to Marowak, Ditto uses Leer (only move Elekid knows) I use False Swipe, puts Ditto on 1 HP.
So i'm guessing it does work. Though this is Leaf Green.

That just proves that Ditto has crappy stats. Don't test it with a weak Pokemon, test it with a strong one.

Ditto merely transforms into the opponent and copy its form and moveset, it does not copy the stats of the opponent. This is why the only Pokemon that can transform effectively is Mew (but who would teach Mew transform?)

I only found two uses for a Ditto. One, as most people have said already, is great for breeding purposes. Second, it bugs the hell out of Dragon pokemon. When Ditto copies a Dragon Pokemon's moves, it is possible to have a Dragon-type move on the moveset. And, as most people know, Dragon pokemon are weak against Dragon attacks (kind of ironic, but true).
