My friends told me today that in firered, in the virdian forest, there is a man that will try to sell a red orb-like object. The orb is spossed to glow at a statue and start a battle with Mew. Is this really true or are they lying.  [/b] |

100% Untrue. Sozzles, you can only get Mew by Nintendo Event, or by some kind of cheating device. Sozzles.

This question can be answered with 1 word. No. Mew can only be found with the Old Sea Map [Emerald only], obtained in a Nintendo Event. For more information, try here.
