NINTENDO EVENTS

You might remember from the days of Red, Blue and Yellow, where much anticipated Nintendo promotions meant a chance to get Mew. Nowadays, in order to get rare Pokemon, Nintendo have devised a slightly different system.

In Gold and Silver, Mystery Gifting was introduced, where you linked with a friend and both of you got an item. In the Advanced Generation, Mystery Gifting is now used to connect with special machines at official promotions or "Nintendo Events". These machines upload certain rare items that you can collect from Teala, the Pokemon Center 2F Attendant. To activate Mystery Gifting, go to any PokeMart and inspect the memo by the counter. A questionnaire will pop up - enter the words "Link Together With All" and the Mart attendant will activate Mystery Gift in your game.

The biggest problem with these Nintendo Events is that many people outside the United States (and Japan) may not get the chance to attend and hence will not be able to catch certain Pokemon. If Nintendo do decide to schedule an event however, the location and date will be announced on the official website, http://www.pokemon.com.

The following items can be obtained from a Nintendo Event:

AURORA TICKET

The Aurora Ticket in FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald allows passage to Birth Island. At Birth Island, you will encounter a field with a black triangle. The object of the puzzle is to keep examining the triangle, but each time it moves, you must walk to it in the least number of steps possible. Each time the triangle moves, it heats up, until finally it shatters, summoning a lv30 Deoxys. Once you catch it, it will morph into Attack Deoxys (if you are playing FireRed), Defense Deoxys (in LeafGreen) or Speed Deoxys (in Emerald).

EON TICKET

In Ruby and Sapphire, the Eon Ticket could be obtained through an E-Card that was given out at Nintendo Events. The Eon Ticket allows passage to Southern Island where a mysterious object deep in the forest will summon a lv50 Latios (Sapphire) or lv50 Latias (Ruby). These Pokemon will be holding a Soul Dew.

In Emerald, the Eon Ticket will be obtainable through Mystery Gifting, as per usual. Depending on which Pokemon you selected to appear (You will get a prompt from your Mom - check out the Emerald Legendaries Guide.), a lv50 Latias or Latios will appear.

MYSTIC TICKET

The Mystic Ticket in FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald allows passage to Navel Rock. At Navel Rock, you are given the opportunity to catch Lugia (if you take the right path) and Ho-oh (if you take the left path). You can also receive a Sacred Ash if you use the Itemfinder where Ho-oh attacks you.

OLD SEA MAP

The Old Sea Map in Emerald allows passage to Faraway Island, where you will come across the elusive Mew in the forests. Chase it, corner it in the grass, and you'll be given the chance to capture it. Mew comes at lv30.
