My very first Pokemon was Treecko. That thing was awesome; we took on Team Aqua together, and we had a grand journey. He's also the only Pokemon I've ever raised up to level 100. I just had so much more patience back then; these days, it usually stops around level 80 or so, for the most part.

My Torterra has always beens special to me. (Hence my usernane) I got into the series later than most people, and started out with Pearl. I love the grass type, and was overjoyed at being able to pick Turtwig. I accidentally nicknamed it "Turtwig" when I first got it, and it has stayed the same ever since. Turtwig was my first level 100, out of three. Next came Gallade, then Giritina. I'm now EV trainig a shiny flawless Brave Turtwig FROM THE FUTURE (inside joke) nicknamed Twisterra that I got from Rick44305 as a tribute to my first and most beloved Pokemon. (Tears of joy)

Being somebody who started with Pokemon Blue, my first Pokemon was a Squirtle! I bloody loved Blastoise's back then.

My first poke on was a chancey cuz I got it in my friends FIRE RED game in the safari zone it was fun but he most likely released it but it was not my game so what do I say. My first pokemon in my game was a chicorita.

A Charmander, born late December 1998?
Don't remember a thing about it!
I played the Starter-Beast way for a very long time. You know how it is... your starter does everyone's job, the rest of your party consists of whatever was higher-leveled in the wild than the wild Pokémon around the last city, until you get legends and they become mainstays too.
The first Pokémon I had that was none of those things was an Altaria. I didn't know anything about IVs or EVs and didn't pay attention to special and physical attack. I didn't consider non-damage-dealing attacks to be worth anyone's time despite how well they worked for NPCs. So what I'm saying is, that Altaria was probably no good. But I raised her from level 15 to 55, a Pokémon nobody told me was strong, and at that time, I was proud of that. From then on I kept my whole team at more-or-less equal levels and never used a legendary 'mon again.

As far as my first caught Pokemon, I don't remember. Most likely a Zigzagoon or Poochyena. If I dig through my Sapphire cartridge, I could probably figure it out, based on levels and whatnot. In FR... hm. Maybe a Rattatta or Pidgey. In White, I think it was Purrloin or Lillipup, since I don't care at all for Patrat or Pidove (well, his evo in the case of the latter). And everything else is just w/e.

Kanto: Charmander and Pidgey. Johto: Cyndaquil(always wished it had been totodile) and Pidgey. Hoen: Torchic... and either Tailow, Ralts, or Whishmur. Sinnoh: Chimchar and Starly. Unova: Oshawott and... Munna, I think.

Hmm
Kanto/Blue: Squirtle was my first given Pidgey was my first caught
Johto/Silver: Totodile and I think it was either HootHoot or Pidgey? [Never never liked Rattata]
Hoenn/Ruby: Treecko Poochyena
Sinnoh/Diamond: Turtwig and since the first gym was actually a bit far away, I don't think I bothered catching anything until I got there, which would mean that my first caught was my Shiny Ponyta

My first was a Torchic in Sapphire, but I ended up deleting that one because I didn't know how to get past the guy who's drawing the "rare footprints", and then I got past him in my second file waith a Mudkip named Swimmy. Stupid name, I know, but I was only about 6 or 7.

You aren't alone, I hate Pikachu too. It's annoying and overrated (so is Ash). But I must be the only one who hates Mudkips...

I actually prefer Electabuzz over Zapdos and Pikachu. But I also don't mind having a Pikachu holding a light ball that happens to know Thunder, Dig, Rock Smash, and I can't remember if the last move if Iron Tail or Thunderbolt.
Either way, my Pikachu is a hit-or-miss tactic which I don't even use that often. As far as Mudkips? I don't see them as very useful but Swamperts, now there's a different story. I like a Muddy Water/Mudshot, Surf/Hydro Pump combo + whatever else.

Aww what's not to like about Pikachu? Somebody has to be the mascot, and that somebody has to be the star of the terrible anime adaptation of the games, it's not THEIR fault

All the Pokemon listed above are awesome and made of win.
By the way, Pikachu isn't "overrated" he's the fucking mascot.

Well, yeah, but the mascot should be cooler. No wonder Pokemon is so unpopular; people think everything is about the anime, the cards, and cutesy little creatures. Make Darkrai be the mascot, maybe, and then more people would like it. And raven90, I like your signature now.

They already use Pokémon that look like Metal Gears on the box arts.

Yeah, if you mean Reshiram and Zekrom. And it's better than having Charizard (FireRed) on the cover. And I heard from somewhere (maybe from here) that Black and White are the most popular handheld games Gamefreak has made. Maybe it's from the better covers?
