It pains me to say it, since I'm such a big fan of Hypnosis, but Alakazam would mash Hypno into a fine, mushy paste.

Alakazam I would say is the best non-legendary psychic pokemon.

Alakazam. All the way. Alakazam is one of the best non-legendary special sweepers out there.

This threads fits in with the Pokemon Center forum, it is a general question.
Alakazam

wow. everyone thinks Alakazam could kill hypno. including me. lol. just for the sake of argument, i will point out that hypno is pretty strong, but probably better with physical moves then special moves. headbutt, mega punch, etc.

Hypno's Attack and Special Attack are exactly the same. Therefore it's better with neither one over the other.
I don't see the point of this thread. Alakazam is a sweeper with the defenses of glass while Hypno's offenses aren't amazing but it can sponge hits. The only thing these two Pokemon have in common are their typing, and other than that they have completely different roles and playing styles. Unless you're talking about Generation I, in which case they're pretty much equal to each other.

Dude, this isn't even a question. Hypno sucks in my opinion, Alakazam is a beast!

No contest is better than . Alakazam will 'kazam' Hypno down with shadow ball before Hypno even blinks.

Hypno, because it can actually take a hit and with the right moves, faster is slower. I.E. Trick Room for those that care. While Alakazam is a great 'sweeper', there's no real strategy when it comes to him and his paper-like defense drops him a huge step in my opinion.

Wow people amuse me to great extents. I'll have to Agree with my bro. on this one, Hypno is the better pokemon between the two. Sure Alakazam is awesome when it comes to brute force, but it's move selection is to low, giving Hypno a much greater advantage, along with it's defense. Hynosis, Nightmare, Swagger. Game.

Nobody payed any attention to what Frost said, it totally depends on how the Pokemon's role is to be filled. With Hypno being able to sponge special hits, with a physically defensive nature it could play a decent role as a TW supporter. Or maybe you want to run Hypno in a BP team, in which case it has access to screens and nasty plot. Neither of which Alakazam can fill as Hypno can.
Or maybe you want a sweeper, in which case Alakazam fills this role better than an offensive nasty plot Hypno. It really depends on what you need it to do. As for which one would fit into my style of play, I would take Alakazam simply based on the fact that I like to hit fast and hard, which is all Alakazam can do.

I think they did & probably already knew that but decided to give their opinion on the matter based on their experiences with the 2 pokemon, kind of the point here I would think... As I am a person who just don't like pokemon with Glass DEF or SPDEF, I have to go with Hypno, it is also a funner pokemon to use with more variety as well imo...

Hypno! My third favorite pokemon, second favorite if you don't count legendaries. How I love its moveset. I once ground down a team made up of sweepers with just Hypno in a 6-on-1 match. The other person's reaction was hi-frickin-larious.
