YAYZ, MY FIRST TOPIC POST!!!!
I came up with this great capture method you all should try! Since Quick balls only work well before you can do anything else, i thought, what could i do to make pokemon easyer to catch with Quick balls?
The answer: Put a Pokemon that has intimidate in slot 1!! if you use a quick ball right after the wild pokemon's attack gets lowered, it works almost all the time!! it even worked on a level 53 pokemon!! However, beware of the Clear Body or Hyper Cutter abilities. i had to learn that the hard way

Saying "gotcha" into the mic when the ball is being sent out is also claimed to 2x the catch rate. It sorta worked for me but not always.

o.O
...I think these are just inane rumors and superstitions... but I could be wrong...
For a good quick ball strategy, try putting the opposing poke to sleep first turn and then throw the quick ball second. or just stock up on timers, ultras, and quicks, and just wall them to death while throwing the appropriate ball when necessary.

Appropriately renamed.
I have a habit of pressing and holding down + B. Been that way since Red/Blue.

I used to believe the whole "Gotcha" thing, until it was shot down by nintendo power. Now I use conventional methods, no superstitions for me.

I always hold A+B+ what ever way the ball shakes.
I also heard that hitting DOWN DOWN UP RIGHT LEFT A B worked.

Upntil about the tme that I Pearl, I used to genuinely believe that repeatedly tapping A would would work. That's what everyone said. It made me very angry when I found out that it was wrong.

I usually hold B down and move left/right on the control pad as the pokeball shakes then up as the stars pop out. I know it doesn't help but I do it anyways...

I hold the B button down and look away from the screen. I look away for at least 7 seconds just in case because whenever I end up looking back at the screen in the middle of the catching process, it pops out. ;.;

... I use UP and B.
And then counter-clockwise on the D-Pad. I fully admit it's a security blanket.

Out of habit, I tap the A button or b button repeatedly. Sometimes I don't. I heard a rumour where if you circle the pokeball icon on the bottom screen with your stylus without touching it, it helps to increase capture rate. I don't know if this works. I've never tried it.
I have a bad habit where I put my face really close to the top screen so I can't really see what's going on. I think it lessons the shock when the pokemon escapes.

For some reason, I picked up on slamming down on several buttons multiple times simultaneously, and after it worked twice in a row, it just kinda stuck.

My method has always been to press Down+B twice while the ball is in the air, press Up+A as the ball opens and the pokemon goes inside, and hold Up+A until capture.

despite my first post, i must admit that I am a subscriber to the down-b strategy.
It just makes me feel like the whole thing isn't as random as I would like to think, and gives a more physical game experience.

Lol, all I do is hope.
When I try to catch a Legendary, I just close my DSi, to the point where it will almost 'Sleep'.
It seems to take the pressure off, and helps me a bit...
Not sure though.
Just a habit.

I tend to hold "B" and trace around the sides of the touch screen when the pokemon goes inside the ball. Doesn't work, of course.

Only R/B had a sure way, I think.

I've tapped B since I got R/B.
It's most likely that none of these work though. It's probably just our mind's wanting them to work, so when they do we're like "OMG YAY IT WORKS!!!!1111!!!!"
Or maybe it's just me

My technique is based on common sense...
The Down arrow represents the Pokeball closing... the lid of the Pokeball closing.
On the other hand... the button B represents NO... as in "NO, dont open...", because the A button is usually used to confirm, say yes.
Sooo as you may have guessed, what I do is hold the Down arrow down and press B repeatedly... im pretty sure it doesnt work tho.

It has been instinct for me to yell "Gotcha!" into the mic even if it doesn't work. And I've been mashing that A button for 6 years. My thumb hurts...
I always use my Shroomish to catch Pokes. Spore, False Swipe, switch to my Staraptor, Intimidate, then chuck that ball!
I tried that down-b thing. Don't work for me.
