If by "go in like a storyline", do you mean are the games all intertwined with a connected storyline? If so, then no. Each Final Fantasy (talking about the normal numeric main series ones) has its own storyline, universe, etc. I'm not a Final Fantasy expert, but that's probably enough of an explanation for you.
In short, if you want to buy a Final Fantasy game, you really could go for any of the main series (XI is an MMORPG, just so you know) and not have to know anything about Final Fantasy at all.
As far as graphics go, all of them are different, and many of them are available on more than one platform medium. If you want graphics somewhat similar to Kingdom Hearts, you probably would feel "at home" with Final Fantasy X or XII.

FFX is the only Final Fantasy to have a direct sequel, which was FFX-2. There are a few spin-offs with sequels though. If you're INTO GRAFIX OMG!!!!1 then the better FF games aren't for you (FFV, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX), so you could try FFX.

Of course it also depends on the platforms that you have. There is FF IV, V and VI on the GameBoy Advance for instance, and FF IV and III are available for the Nintendo DS, and FF VII and FF VIII are available on the PC.

I'd almost close this thread just for demanding that the game have "good graphics."

Gameplay over graphics is the best way to go.
But if you insist on graphics, I know that Final Fantasy III for DS has very impressive graphics for a DS game. It's really the only one I've played besides Crystal Chronicles on Gamecube (which I wouldn't recommend...despite the good graphics, the gameplay's kinda weird compared to the rest of the FF series).
As far as I know, most of the games are different from each other somehow. Such as Final Fantasy III focused the game mainly on configuring your party's jobs.
That's honestly the only collection of FF games I know well enough to recommend. >_<

I know, but I try to withdraw myself to a third-party standpoint that doesn't have any sense of taste one way or the other to give a more extrinsic reply.
Also, when you say "good graphics", that can go multiple ways depending on your context. In my opinion, most of the Final Fantasies (keyword most) have great graphics for the systems they're on. Take FFVI, for example. I think it has excellent 16-bit sprites and graphics for its time that I still find myself adoring today.

It's implied what he means by "good graphics" by the example he gives. I'm just being a jerk though. ;[

Start out on FFX or FFXII. Then once you understand the the storyline is pure genius you can branch out to the others.

NO NO NO NO! If your looking for a good final fantasy game period, start on final fantasy 5 and work your way up to 12 (5-6-7-TACTICS-8-9-10-12) If you'd rather have a good looking one, then 10 or 12 would be your best bet. 9 had good graphics for the ps1 era, however.
You're better off to start with 7,8, or 9 to get a traditional feel of the turn-based battles, then you can branch out into the others.
