I've played through Emerald with every starter, but the first one I picked was Treecko.
Basically my choice was based on the fact that I liked lizards and reptiles in general, and my friend's brother had sapphire and agreed that he was quite useful.
So no, if anyone thought my name was based off of a starter, it was not.

Treecko, because I like it the most. xD
Also, I felt I could build a better team with him than with Mudkip or Torchic.

I picked torchic becuz Blaziken has such a good move set. Not just that but I really needed a fighting type for my team at the time because Electabuzz just wasnt cutting it.

The starter I chose was Treecko, as someone said before me, I believe I can make a stronger team with him as the starter than I would be able to if I started with Mudkip or Torchic.
I recently started a new game, and I've just got rid of Team Aqua in Slateport and I'm just on the way up to Mauville City now.
I only have the first two badges, and these are the Pokemon I have atm:
Grovyle, lvl 21.
Kadabra, lvl 21.
Mightyena, lvl 19.
Azumarill, lvl 21.
Zigzagoon, lvl 9.
Tell me what you think!
Any ideas on the next Pokemon I shopuld catch and train up?

you should catch a geodude cuz wattsons magneton is really hard and one magnitude should take him out! if you are useing emerald, geodude is in the Granite Cave and if you dont believe me heres the link:
http://www.psypokes.com/dex/psydex/074/location
P.S. you should also get rid of azumarill cuz hes really bad against wattsons Shock Wave!

I've Started with all three, but I would have to say that it's easiest with Treecko. Treecko beats the 1st Gym alone, then my Taillow beats the second and I train a geodude on my way to the 3rd gym. Haven't found a good water in sapphire though, I usually pick Marill when playing Emerald, but I can't in Sapphire.

I like all of them! But, normally I pick Torchic.

I've always really done Mudkip, just because of the Ground/Water combo with Swampert. But I've played with them all! They're all cool.
By the way, wouldn't it be cool if the three starters were Dark, Psychic, and Fighting? It plays into the whole 'Rival picks the one you're weak against' thing.

I picked Mudkip. Funny story about that. I had a dream that I somehow obtained a Swampert in my Yellow version. I thought it meant I should pick Mudkip, so when I got Emerald, that's what I picked.

I've used them all, I prefer Mudkip. Torchic and Treeko are cool, but I like Mudkip a lot. Plus I can coordinate my entire team pretty quickly since I've got a Surfer picked.

I chose Treecko in Ruby because I am a fan of psychic and grass types. I wish they had made a dual type psychic and grass. But, I have all 3. On emerald i chose mudkip, traded a hatched mudkip to LG, emerald was somehow erased, started over with torchic bred it, traded it to LG, started ruby with treecko, traded to LG, and now i have 3 starters in LG! AND, that goes along with the i got from FR and the i bred! That's 5 starters in 1 game!!

First time through Sapphire I went with Mudkip. I've used him twice, I think. I think I've also used Treecko twice. Not as much of a Blaziken fan though.

I knew about them but I've never liked them much. I think I have one or two on LG.

I've always picked the Fire type.
Pearl => Chimchar
Emerald => Torchic
Leafgreen => Charmander
Gold => Cyndaquil
Well, except in Yellow, where you were stuck with a pikachu.
It's weird because the Fire-type is usually the best.
Charizard's SAtk and Spd make it a total beast.
Typhlosion's SAtk and Spd make it a beast.
Infernape just IS BEAST (stats are all in the right places).
Blaziken is the only one that I have doubts about. Infernape outshines it in every possible way.
Swampert is probably the best out of the three Hoenn starters...you can't compare with his bulkiness.

Torchic. Blaziken is just awesome. Although, Winoma was a pain, along with Drake.
