Mine were probably level 55-65. I got through it easily using Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres at around level 60.

60+ is really great, but if you don't feel like spending a lot of time training then you could go in with some 50s and a lot of Revives/Full Restores and beat them probably.

Mine have always been around level 50 when I started, but then I'm told I'm too powerful for my own good, so 60 is better if you don't have the funds to run around with 40 revives.

My team was about lvl 55, with my charizard at 60.
It can be done lower though, I had 5 Pokes.

Mine were about 50-52, it was kinda hard but I wanted to do it for a challenge so that's why I went in with low levels, but I would recommend using pokemon between 55-60.

My best is level 91 I think, my second best is level 57, then nothing over level 40.

Its possible with the right strategy to defeat them the first time around with level 45's though I suggest training to higher levels seeing that this is more challenging then most people want to try and far more expensive (the number of revives and hyperpotions can really put a dent in your wallet )

Suggestion: DON'T have your best pokemon be the same type as your beginner, especially against your Rival at the end. I made mistake with my Moltres and Charizard, he was level 89 or 90 by the time I finally beat my rival's Blastoise. But Moltres is great if you started with Squirtle, he beat my foe's Venusaur. I highly suggest catching the legendary birds before fighting the E4, or at least the one strong against our rival's best pokemon. Just so you know, here's the list of which bird is best for you to use:
Rival's beginner: Bird:
Bulbasaur Moltres (Three Island)
Charmander Articuno (Seafoam Islands)
Squirtle Zapdos (Powerhouse)

Oh, yeah. Why is Articuno Ice-type not Water-type? There's not one good against Fire! Noooo! I didn't start with Bulbasaur, though, so I forgot. And with y Charizard I got poned by my rival's Gyarados. :/

" Articuno" "Arctic". Think about it. Arctic, all frozen, icy, etc. Doesn't seem to hard to me why Articuno is Ice-type.

Yeah, I know. I jsut automatically think Water since it's upposed to be good againts one of the beginners, like the Dogs. Besides, I don't use it much (only lv 53) since I don't know a pokemon I need to use it against that it's good against. I only have one on the game I started out with a Blastoise.

I use it when I'm bored for Mind Reader + Sheer Cold (mine is lv 80 or something)
Anyway, back on topic, my pokemon were about 55 when I beat the Elite Four. Just utilize different types of moves, bring lots of Hyper Potions and Revives, or if you can't afford the Revives and Hyper Potions, then just level them up higher. Generally, after several replies, it would average about 55 to 60, so keep the pokemon around there before going in. But as always, higher is still fine. Good luck!

Fire-type is good against most of Lorelei's Ice-types, adn the Fire-type (if it know Flamethrower), and I can beat the E4 the second round fairly easily with just Charizard lv 91 and Moltres lv 61, but I jsut can't beat the Champion. If I were you, I'd have my best pokemon be my beginner and another pokemon of a type good against your rival's beginner, since it's usually the strongest poekon you fight there, and it's strong against your beginner.

Think again, you'd be best off with a Fighting type; some of the ice-types are also water, the only trouble using a Fighting type is Slowbro. Even then, you could try Magneton, being Steel and Electric type, resisting the moves (except for water) and hitting hard with Steel and Electric moves.

Oh, sorry I forgot. I just KOd all Lorelei's pokemon easier with my Charizard than Blastoise, and that old lady with the Onix and stuff, once I fought her without taking any damage, with just my charizard.

If I may suggest a solution to the Charizard Versus Articuno Problem the answer is to use Zapdos and not articuno becuase Charizard is a dual type and is weak to electric attacks
