Pancake Day today *lips licks*
I have to wait for the copper to go later, I look forward to it.
Dislike or like them? What do you prefer on them, if anything?
Lemon juice with sprinkled sugar on mine.

I had three (small) pancakes today for lunch. Couldn't get anything on 'em because there was a damned queue behind me, but my preference is for syrup.

Waffles are better.
Pancakes are too plain, it's like chewing on dough. D:

Dough? :S Are pancakes something else in America?
Aw, GQ. I don't think I've had plain pancakes. They will be served in about ten minutes, woo. Syrup is my second choice.

.. Essentially just flour, yes.
Pancake Tuesday is always the day before Ash Wednesday, right? And that kicks off Lent, doesn't it?
If I'm right, then is everyone celebrating Pancake Tuesday participating in Lent?
Edit: Stfu Goldenfagsire, I'm sick :[

I feel like I'm going to gag everytime I think of eating those frozen waffles you put in your toaster. God those are awful...
I do like pancakes though, and my favorite kinds are:
1) Pumpkin pancakes (the restaurant I work at serves them homemade in October and November) with maple syrup.
2) Regular pancakes (no chocolate chips, no blueberries, etc.) with strawberry jelly and butter.
3) Chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup.
Anything else (especially the thought of lemon juice) makes me want to gag.

Sorry Krisp. I had both anyway. I really wanna try chocolate chip. Maybe not pumpkin though :S at least not until I've tried pumpkin alone first.

Yeah I like the chocolate chip ones, there not as plain as the normal pancakes. At least you could eat those with out anything added and you won't get a boring taste.
Even though normal pancakes are good, I just wouldn't buy them unless there's nothing else or it's a side dish or something.

I also agree waffles are better.

Pancake Shrove Tuesday (As it's properly known in church tradition) is the day before Ash Wednesday, yes, on which pancakes are traditionally eaten. And yes, Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent.
Whether people who are eating pancakes are observing Lent or not, I don't know. Mardi Gras is another name for this day as well, and in my opinion, partying until you're wasted in New Orleans doesn't have much to do with the church Holy Day either.

I whole-heartedly agree. I feel that people partying the day before to get their fix before they have to "endure" the "grueling agony" of sacrificing some extremely menial, self-gratifying pleasure for a mere 40 days is pathetic in light of the remembrance of such an extreme sacrifice someone gave for essentially everyone who lived and will ever live in the future (even if it's just symbolic, as others don't believe). I find human willpower to be rather pathetic and moot considering many people cheat or give up on the "challenge" to bringing honor to someone they worship, who gave it all.

So, there's this breakfast place in one of the suburbs next to Denver, and they have the best pancakes. they have Strawberry Banana Cheesecake, Blueberry Lemon, Oreo, and Banana Foster's Pancakes and they are amazing. I want. Some now. Right now. Mmmmhmm.

Those pancake combinations sound so disgustingly good; pass on the recipe if you have them. I could use a gastronomic orgasm.

I really don't like chocolate chip pancakes.
I love pancakes though, just with syrup and margarine. Yum.

Honestly, I like waffles more. Pancakes just taste like...flour. D:
If I'm going to have one, though, it should be just a plain one with syrup on it.

I had no pancakes on Pancake Tuesday.
I didn't really care though because they are WAY too chewy.

...How shocking, I did! Why have you pointed this out?
Strange, I've never found pancakes to be chewy either.

My pancakes don't taste flowery floury
I ate 4 pancakes on tuesday. I had one with tinned tomatoes and ham in, one with ham and cheese and spring onions in, and two with chocolate in. And then my sister made some weird little ones the recipe book called 'american pancakes' and i had two of those, both with chocolate on. I only had one bar of chocolate on all these togever btw, I'm not that unhealthy.
My family (and most christian famalies I know) don't give anything up for lent, although once I told my school teacher that I'd given my coat up for lent, because I kept not wearing it and she was insisting I did.

Shrove Tuesday has many names:
Shrove Tuesday
Fat Tuesday
Pancake Day
Mardi Gras
Carnival
Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent begins, at which point people traditionally gave up certain things like flour and eggs. So, people needed to get rid of all of that stuff before Lent began, and Shrove Tuesday was born.
Later, it got the name "Fat Tuesday" from other people, then Pancake day, because people often used flour and other things that needed to be gotten rid of to make special pancakes.
Mardi Gras and Carnival...I don't know where those came from.

I like pancakes with berries and syrup.
I've never heard of any different flavour or pancake, exept for plain,
If there's something that I've missed, I'm afraid I fail to see what it is.
