Leading on from silver it should also have move diversity , you can't have a team with all the same type moves.

That's the reason stupid people shouldn't breed. Anyway, back on topic. I'd say that you need different Pokemon for different things. Say a special sweeper, physical sweeper, tank etc...

And also, pokemon diversity. A team made of only sweepers is not going to get past a well-made team easily. Just as you don't want a type weakness, you don't want a weakness to a battle-type (like sweeper, wall, etc.)

Counters also. It gets a bit tiring to have to cotinually switch to get past walls with only Phys/Spec sweepers (no Mixed) and get killed by "Entry Hazards".
Some common counters on a team are:
Rapid Spin (to kill Hazards)
Roar/Haze (gets past BPers and Sub)
Rock Blast (gets past Subs and can kill, but is more RSE than DP)
Magneton(er... ZONE) (Kills the occasional SkarmBliss if needed)
Dugtrio (Kills Magnezone)
Mixed Sweepers (Overheat/BB often, to kill Bliss and Steel Walls)
I can't think of others, but there are MANY. Make sure to use some in a team.

Try to have 2-types pokémon. It helps. Pokémon Such as: Frosslass, Steelix, Blaziken, Torterra, Empoleon, Starmie, ...

Not only do you need different types, but stats of your Pokémon (make them high!) also make a good team. And you also need Pokémon that can give you extra places to go to (Surf on water, for example).

Hmmm...I think playing with your Opponents' minds work pretty well too...try to trick them into believing what you're not going to do and bring out the finishing blow...this works very well with people who love to switch a lot...can be used to effectively mess up an opponent's strategy and wipe them out too. Tactics and Strategies plays a huge part too...plan what to do in battle and know what do do in situations...good or bad...an example is making full use of "Free Turns" that people give when they switch their Pokemon.

Well...a good team needs to be diverse; Clerics, Tanks, Sweepers of both types.
Sweepers need to have type coverage; Super-effective on at least 9 types is good, more is great. They also need high Attack / Special Attack, and high Speed is good too, but not neccissary. Swampert and Octillery are good Sweepers.
Tanks need high defenses and HP, and should be able to heal themselves somehow and stall the battle. They should also have as few weaknesses and as many resitances as possible. I can't think of any particularly good Tanks at the moment.
Clerics need to be able to heal themselves and others in HP and from status conditions, and should therefore have high HP. Miltank and Blissey are good Clerics, Vileplume being good for status-only healing [Aromatherapy].
And the Team has to be able to cover it's own weaknesses while being able to target other teams' weaknesses as well as possible. Having experiance battling is always good, but everybody has to start somewhere...

Post with good clearer please, it's hard to understand what your original question was.
Be sure to decide on a good ground poke in there, bandchomp + EQ kills.
P.S. Ask before using my sigs .
