As far as we know, levels are almost nonexistant in the anime. Along with most other game mechanics ...

Levels just don't exist in the Anime, and that's really all there is to it. The TV show is a kind of parallel universe for entertainment purposes and to promote the games at the same time, so of course the Anime writers take liberties and simplify the games to make the show.
There's only been one specific reference to numerical levels in the TV show, and that was back in the ninth episode, a reference to when the Pidgey family learn their techniques. That was a special case... they were probably trying to parallel the show with the games as much as possible because it was an early episode.
Otherwise, the terms of "levels" in the Anime is a relative comparison between a weaker and a stronger Pokemon.

For a level 50 Poikachu, I think the Thunderbolt/Thundershcok/Thunder/Agility moveset sucks. That's just a waste.

I'm confused. Here's why:
In 'The School of Hard Knocks', the girl says that Pikachu should be lv25. But in some episodes, like the first Brawly Battle, Pikachu lost to a pokemon much weaker than him.

The School of Hardknocks, an early episode trying to remain faithful to the video games, was the only episode that specifically mentioned numerical levels. And Giselle only said Pikachu should be level 25, not that it actually was. Like I said in my previous post, video game levels have no real equilavent in the Anime.

I would say Level 81 because that's what he is in Silver Cave in GSC.

I have to say about Level 80, since it pretty much knocks out any pokemon it goes against - even when Pikachu goes against pokemon that
are "Not Very Effective!" to Electric-Type attacks (like chikorita, bagon,
electrike, etc.) he knocks them out!!
The only possible way for Pikachu to do that is if it's at a much higher
level than its opposition.
And Thunder, Thunderbolt, Iron Tail and Quick Attack?
I mean - Come On!!
And Quick Attack doing the most Damage?
What is that? It's one of the weakest attacks in the entire game!!!

On the anime, the pokemon don't have any levels. They just kind of learn stuff as they go along. Like what Evil Pikachu said, the pokemon in the anime can learn more than 4 moves and never forget them. Also they don't have any HM/TMs in the show. May's skitty learned blizzard from watching Joanie instead of May using a TM. So, pokemon don't have levels on the show... it's just kind of they learn moves whenever they need to learn them the most. (Like when pikachu was trying to learn iron tail... even though that's also a TM move it performed the attack correctly when it needed to use it the most.)

Haha, I guess the anime's mechanics are messed up big time. Anyway... I think Pikachu is somewhere around level 70'ish.

It feels like after so many years of the series being out and how much Ash uses Pikachu. I would say that it should be like 400 by now. But in reality I wouuld say around 60 or 70

Considering how weak Pikachu seems whenever Ash enters a new region (e.g. close match with Taillow, lost to Corphish... i think) I'd say it completely depends on where he is. i.e. its level is reduced to 5 whenever he gets to a new place. The attacks that it knows are irrespective of this, considering it knows more than 4 moves now.

The attacks that it knows are irrespective of this, considering it knows more than 4 moves now. Pikachu doesn't know more than 4 at a time anymore. They make the show adhere to game rules pretty much exactly now. It really takes away from the excitement, but that's a different story.
I don't think "levels" are as important in the show as they are in the game. I think just like with any form of fighting or, for that matter, sports, these days, even the most well-trained bodies can lose to someone they shouldn't on a bad day. Not only is that more realistic, it also makes the show more enjoyable, because really, after what he's been through, I'm fairly certain Ash's Pikachu should be about level 100 by now, and far too powerful to get much of a challenge from many opponents if the show goes by the game rules. Also a lot of the weaker Pokémon he uses (like Staravia) would stand no chance against some of their competition. I really doubt power, levels, stats or whatever make much of a difference in the show, unless it's necessary for the story.
