I was hatching eggs for my start-over team and one of them happened to be a shiny Seel. I transfered the egg from Emerald to Sapphire after turning the game on and off, but when the egg hatched on Sapphire it was the same pokemon, only not shinny. Does this mean the shiny part of a breeding pokemon is generated when it hatches, or does it change when traded or something? Also, will a shiny pokemon stay shiny when it evolves?

shinies stay shiny when traded or evolved.
As for why the shiny part was not transferred...idk. I thought the stats, etc. of an egg were set once the egg is obtained.

thats what i would expect too. stupid question, but was it definitely the same egg? and what if you trade the egg back to emerald - will it be shiny there again?
and why didnt you just clone the seel? or maybe the egg (im sure you can probably clone eggs using the emerald trick).

I didn't clone it because I wanted it to have the ID of the new game. If I sent over just the egg after figuring out what was inside, turning the game off and on, and sending the unhatched egg over. I'm 100% sure it was the same egg. I marked it to make sure I knew which it was. I probably should have cloned the egg though. heh.
I'm trying something. I just transfered a mantine egg with the nature I want over to the sapphire and saved it 1 step before the egg hatches, and I'm going to keep hatching it and see if it will ever be shiny. I'll report that in a few days I suppose ha.

Um...idk how well that will work. You'd have to try it probably 10,000 times to have a decent idea that it won't get a shiny...but your choice

I think the reason your shiny seel wasn't shiny no more is because when you turned off the game it changed into a regular seel egg because like if you find a shiny latias and then you turn off the game without saving it won't be shiny next time you see it because you made what happened not happen. (you should have kept it and just traded it!!!!)

The pokemon's stats are set at different times. If you reset after the stats are set, the stats should not change. An egg's stats are set after you receive it from the Daycare Man. Lati@s's stats are set after you watch the TV show after beating the E4.
