The first scene was very necessary. it showed what has happened since Becket came into power, and how the way of the pirate is on its way to extinction. IT showed the gravity of it all, and that it was necessary to fight becket to free the seas again.
I would have prefered it just showing lots of ships being sunk, and again, very disturbing; I will not give on this opinion so please do not reply.

What I don't get is, why didn't the other 200 ships...you know, attack?

The best POTC movie. Jack and Jones dueling on the yardrail was sweeeet. My favorite scene was when Jones became human, the scene I've been waiting for.

Well, think about it. What was the only thing going for Beckett's armarda? The Endeavour and THe FLying Dutchman. With the Dutchman joining the Black PEarl (the best pirate ship on the seas, apparently) and wiping the Endeavour from the face of the earth (or sea, in this case.) means that the other armada doesn't stand a chance.

I'm not going to try and 'sway your opinion,' but it's not going to stop me from giving my own.
I think it was hard hitting, but also a little stab at the current governments; while all these atrocities are happening (what with a child being hung, etc) you can hear the bloke suspending civil liberties, such as Habeus Corpus. Habeus Corpus is the concept of 'innocent until proven guilty,' and that you can't hold a person prisoner until they are proven guilty.
At the time when the film was being made, there was the whole thing going on in England of how long you could hold a suspected terrorist, and in America, I beleive there was that Act (that Michael Moor famously blared out of a ice cream van) that also took away people's civil liberties. Perhaps the director was trying to forwarn us of what could be to come, or at least, impose his own political beleifs on the viewers.
But I loved it. I loved the scene with Calypso and Davy Jones, it was so cute.
What I detested though, was the eyeball-dude's friend, the short fat one. His acting was not only crap, but it was complemented by a poor script for his character. So, no points for him.
But the best thing was easily the music. It was, as usual, excellent. Hans Zimmer.

I've yet to see the third movie, I was a little confused and annoyed by the second because I didn't understand why that guy was alive again and it also p*ssed me off that 'Elizabeth' cheated on 'Will'. I like movies, etc, to send out good messages to today's youth, it doesn't matter how crazy the actual movie is.
Anyway, after watching the trailer in the first post on this thread, I really wanted to watch the movie, but then comments such as this:

I saw the movie, and I was very confused, they tried to force comedy, which is stupid and never works. Also, they made Jack Sparrow crazy. Not cool. The plot was confusing, and Kalypso turning into a giant reminded me of King-Kong/Giant Pokemon battles. Then she turned into crabs. What gives?
put me off again. Lol, my friend mentioned something about crabs.
I'm sure the movie will confuse me but I'll enjoy the fight scenes all the same.

And I'm sure I'll agree with this. The music in films is what can "make-or-break" them for me and the music in movies such as 'Pirates of the Caribbean' is definitely amazing.
(My favourite is probably the music in 'The Lord of the Rings' films though, but I'm not too sure.)
