ok i've been on route 210 for the past 2 days catching chansey's like crazy in attempt to get a lucky egg, i realize it's only 5% chance per chansey so there's only a 1/20 proabability that i'll get one, but after going through about 50 chansey's and not getting even 1, i'm obliged to say wtf, i keep seeing ppl on the forums trading lucky eggs in the trading threads, how are they able to get them easily enough where they'd be willing to trade them off and i can't even get 1? is there some sort of secret? or is there 1 sitting around some where in game that you can just find? throw me a bone here guys

You're not doing anything wrong, it's just rare they have one.
Here's the best set up:
Get a pokemon with Compoundeyes (Butterfree, Nincada, etc)
Take it in a battle and let it faint
Put it at the head of your party
Get a strong pokemon with Theif or Covet
Put it at the second spot in your party
Use the PokeRadar to chain Chansey
With the Compoundeyes pokemon in the front, there is a higher chance of pokemon having items. Killing the Chanseys with Covet/Theif instead of catching them will save you time and money, and you'll know right away if you get a Lucky Egg or not. Just be sure to take any items your Covet-er has before the next battle, or it won't take anything else.

Or instead of a Pokemon with Thief/Covet, you could use a Frisk Banette with Thief. That will save you even more time because you will know exactly when a Chansey has an item.

cloning lol. They don't actually need to find new Lucky Eggs each time. But you can also try to get one over wifi - see what people want

This is an even better idea.

That's exactly how I got the Magmarizer, Electrizer, and DeepSeaScale.
It took 2.5 hours to get that dang Magmarizer, so be prepared for a long hunt to get that Lucky Egg.
I got one from GTS, on a shiny Garchomp no less!

What did you trade it for?!?! Not many people would willingly trade a (legit) shiny and a lucky egg...
Chaining is an idea... though it makes it even more annoying... as it is very hard to get the chain going...
Basically Thief is what you need... and as Darjulok said, Frisk could be helpful too...
Other than that it is luck!
(By the way, after 40 chanseys, the chance of NOT finding any lucky eggs is still a good 13% so it isn't too unusual)

You know that guy who gives you a Happiny egg? Would it have any chance of holding a lucky egg?

It may help to do this..
You need:
Stantler with Frisk ability
Zigzagoon/Linoone with Covet/Thief
Get a Stantler that's the same level as the Chansey in the grass. Have it hold a Smoke Ball so that you can run away from everything else.
Use a Repel and do the Safari Zone grass trick. (Lightly tap the D-pad up,right, down, left, repeat).
When Chansey appars, Stantler will tell you if there's a Lucky Egg, switch to Zigzagoon/Linoone and use Covet/Thief.
BAM! You have a Lucky Egg!

im pretty sure someone has already mentioned this, but bannette has frisk and can learn thief. so no need for switching.

But with this method you can run away using the Smoke Ball, and it speeds up the process considerably.

lucky egg doubles exp, much the same as having a traded pokemon. for added schwing, put the lucky egg ON a traded pokemon. cause 4X exp is good.

You're a bit mistaken. The lucky egg doesn't double the number of points you earn, it increases them by 1.5. The same goes for traded pokemon. The points traded pokemon earn aren't doubled, they're increased by 1.5.

Either way lucky egg is an amazing item. I used a Banette with thief after the third Chansey & bam... lucky egg. It really comes down to luck, no pun intended.
