Of course nobody knows anything about it... but we speculate that it will be pokemon opal, and have girantina on the front, due to the fact that part of giratina's name (giratins I think...) is a type of opal.
Credits to Mr. Saturn for that one.

But it'll be a long wait, at least 18 months. I suggest get diamond or pearl now...

many people who had Ruby or Sapphire bought Emerald, so there is no reason not to get 2. I would get DP now...with wifi it's a lot of fun...but it's really your choice. The 3rd game will most likely have many better features.

Yeah. Pokemon Opal sounds right, (I can't think of any other jewel) but on the back of the Mind Plate in Solaceon Ruins it says "The beings of time and space were sent out by the Original One!" Methinks Arceus will be available! :D
Anyway, just a thought, but I WILL get that game! NOTHING WILL STOP ME! :twisted:

You used large font WHY?

I doubt Arceus will be available. Maybe they will include him in the storyline somehow but The only one to be likely to be availible is Darkrai.

I think it might be Opal. Maybe? I first thought it would be Berlitz because thats what the female protagonist in the Pokemon D/P arc of the Pokemon Adventure manga is called

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlitz_%28Pok%C3%A9mon%29

but once i read the wiki entry it says she doesn't give her name to commoners so it's probably going to be some other sort of stone. These pokemon manga main characters all seem to be named after thier respective games so yeah. Maybe it is Opal :D

I doubt there will be a 3rd game. It is already possible to catch all Pokemon using the two (save the legendaries and a few others). We already have a "Battle Frontier" as well.

And no, Darkrai or any other event Pokemon will NOT be available ingame, if they do make a 3rd one. That's why they're called EVENT Pokemon.

If they do indeed make another one, I do believe it will be called Pokemon Opal, with Giratina on the front, for the same reasons everyone else had.

the third ones are always a lovely experience... a refined and more advanced version of the original... Emerald was nice to R/S... Opal... Opal seems to fit with the opening sequence..., any thoughts on how the story will fit together?

(i never watched the animie/movies)

I am waiting for the third Pokemon because my brothers have both Diamond and Pearl, so another D/P would be unnecessary.

And who said that GameFreak won't be adding more Pokemon? Maybe in the possible Pokemon Opal, 7 new Pokemon may be added, making a total of 500 Pokemon.

but it should be made so that they can trade bewtween d/p and the third game, and they wouldn't be able to unless they made like a pokedex upgrade or something we can get off of wifi, which not everyone has.

Or, they haven't released any info about the pokemon, and so no one knows it's on their pokedex because the game doesn't tell you the pokedex can go higher than 493...but anyway, making an even 500 has not been something Game Freak often does. 386 for 3rd gen, right?

I like the Idea of a 3rd game but when it does come out it will likely affect the play on WiFi to an extent.
I just can't wait infact I've been waiting for it ever since I got
my Pearl Version already.

I found some stuff On a Nintendo forum supporting the whole opal and giratina thing

Many people predict the new game will be Opal, due to the fact the Giratina's name means opal in Japanese. However, there is more information to be obtained by looking at their moves. Dialga, Palkia, AND Giratina are Dragon/something else types. They all learn the new move Heal Block at the same level. They also all learn the move Aura Sphere at the same level. Even more important, Dialga learns Roar of Time at level 40, Palkia learns Spacial Rend at level 40, and Giratina learns its signature move, Shadow Force, at...level 40. Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina learn Dragonbreath, Dragon Claw, and Slash at the same levels as well. Also, Giratina is caught at level 70, the same level Rayquaza was caught at in Emerald. Giratina is prohibited from the Battle Tower, while Regigigas and Heatran are allowed...Interesting isn't it? Feel free to discuss ideas and opinions here!

I found 2 more similarities:
Palkia, Dialga and Giratina names have one i, two a and they end with a.

If Giratina had a l, their names would be even more related.

And:

Palkia
P --> Pearl

Dialga
D --> Diamond

Giratina
G --> ????

I think that, while Nintendo and GameFreak would be following in their own footsteps to create the lsast part of yet another trio, there is no proof. Granted, there have been rumours, but most were just taken from forums like this. Also, FRLG still doesn't have a third instalment (spl?) and it seems to me that Nintendo waits for the next duo to come out before announcing the third part of the next to newest duo. There are some exceptions, such as Yellow and Crystal, but Emerald came out after FRLG had been released.

As has already been mentioned,

Giratina
G --> Girasol

And besides, Girasol is called "fire opal", which is yellow, and the "sol" part means sun, which is yellow, and it comes from the Italian for "sunflower" which is yellow. Hey, look at a Giratina! It's yellow! This is most likely why they went with Girasol as opposed to the more general Opal. I still find it more likely that they will make the game "Opal Version" and they decided not to name Giratina something like "Opelia" because that would be too obvious. With RS, it was obvious just looking at Rayquazza that they were planning on making Emerald, and they were probably hoping that we wouldn't figure it out so quickly.

I'm not entirely convinced by the whole girasol/giratina/opal theory. Giratina is barely mentioned in PD and there is no storyline involving him whatsoever. Cresselia and Darkrai seem to have more prominent roles - like the hotel and the sailor's kid in Canalave City. I wouldn't be surprised that in the 3rd game, you have to defeat Darkrai (and not be able to catch it since its an event Poke) possibly in a 2vs2 battle with Cresselia and then she runs off for you to find randomly. Don't know what they might call it though...

IIRC, Rayquaza is barely mentioned in Ruby/Sapphire. However, it is quite important in Emerald.

Oh, you are right, but still the names of the 3 legendaries have an i in common.

And the Japanese names of Palkia and Dialga are Parukia and Diaruga (Giratina has the same name in japanese an english), and they still match with the P --> Pearl and D --> Diamond

And look, these names in Japanese now have an r in common instead of an L. If Giratina had an u, then the 3 names would be really similar.

Sapphire-Kyogre- IDK about this one... ky??? and ogre, like a monster

Ruby-Groudon- ground and don (like dinasour) obvious.

Emerald-Rayquaza- ray and quasar as in it's far away

What are those resemlbences? That's what I thought...

You don't look at the spelling of the pokes, you look at their namesake, aka where their name comes from.
