Well, I noticed there really weren't any official breeding threads (only questions), so maybe I can start a little compilation of tips and tricks to help with all those struggling breeders out there.
So far, one of the fastest methods I have of making eggs is to put my two "parent" pokemon in the Solaceon Daycare, empty my party of everyone except my flyer, shift my bike gear up, are ride up and down along the farthest right column of the dirt path going through Solaceon. There's no tall grass, the dirt ramps are easy to fly across, and each run (the cafe down to the trees next to the Hallowed Tower) is about 150 steps. After I get a party full of eggs, I fly to Eterna City and ride up and down Cycling Road (press right once after exiting the top building), for my finger's sake xD It's also a clear path (save an annoying biker that goes horizontal), and I only have to hold a button when I hit the bottom.
Well, any other tips? xD

Instead of a flyer, or alongside a flyer, have a Pokemon with Magma Armour or Flame Body ability. This will cut time it takes to hatch eggs in half.
Also, collect dittos. If you attach an everstone to a ditto, and breed it with something, the offspring will have a 50% chance of inheriting the ditto's nature. I have a ditto of every useful nature, and a load of random ones like Naughty. With this, I only have to hatch a few eggs to get the pokemon I want.

Oh, duh, forgot about Magma Armor/Flame Body. xD That's a good one too. Speaking of which, I think it's time I get to Stark Mountain and grab me a Slugma xD
And yeah, the Ditto natures is a good tip too. I just don't have the time or collection to trade for a bunch right now, so I just get a pile of eggs and choose the most useful nature out of the bunch xD Not very professional, but I like to have a bit of randomness in my Pokemon. Makes em feel original.

I just like having the perfect pokemon =P.
Remember, there's a berry patch in Solaceon, and you can see it while you ride your bike up and down. Plant some berries there if you like to multitask.
And if you haven't, get the daycare watcher app. You don't need to waste time talking to the daycare guy to see if you have an egg then. Remember to keep tapping the app to refresh it.

The Day-care App. can be obtained from the man inside the day-care building (Guy with glasses).

I don't ever use the Day Care app, because I've noticed while running up and down that path that if the old man finds an egg, he'll be facing to the right. Otherwise, he's always looking down.

The everstone/Ditto trick also works on the female Pokemon.

I have bred Horsea/Seadra with Totodiles to get the Totodile D-Dance and Hydro Pump. I hatched about 6 of those. Then I bred the totodile with Larvitar to get me a Larvitar that knows D-Dance. I have a bunch of Chikoritas with all kinds of moves. I have bred many other things too. Such as Growlithes with the Flamethrower.

Hmm, so the guy faces right when he has an Egg? That should help.
Hey, has anyone ever noticed that some eggs take longer than 5120 steps to hatch? I'm not talking about Riolu or Happiny eggs, but for instance, I was going to breed a batch of five Chimchar eggs yesterday to pick one out that had a good nature. So when I go pick up the first egg, before I moved, I reset the step counter and continued getting eggs. After the fifth egg, I flew to the Bike Path and rode for a bit, but when the counter got to 5120, the egg didn't hatch O.o I think I got to about 5900 before it hatched, and then the other eggs had about 400-600 steps between eachother. Any explanations?

Akira, I don't think that's possible.

Sounds entirely possible to me that the number of steps to hatch has received additional randomizing.

I noticed that too. I was using a slugma, and my 5k steps eggs took about 3.3k steps instead of 2.5k

I think when sites give the "number of steps to hatch", that's just an average number, not exact. I've watched my step counter after set appropriately, and sometimes it'll take up to 500 - 700+ extra steps before they hatch.

Lol, that's what I've been thinking too, but whenever I bred my cousin's Alakazam and Infernape, the egg took 5120 steps (give or take about 20, i forgot to reset my counter when I left the daycare building). Maybe breeding with a Ditto makes the egg take longer to hatch?

Nah, I've bred Snorunts together, and Eevees together, etc., and I've NEVER bred and gotten the exact number, even though I always remember to reset my counter.

Speaking of breeding, I just hatched a Houdour with near max IVs in HP, Def, SAtk and Spd. Atk and SDef aren't pretty low though.
And I've never noticed verying egg step counts, but I rarely use the counter.

Well, if I remember, Houdour (and later Houndoom) don't really need high Attack or either of the Defenses... but still, that's a pretty lucky draw, Eamonn. xD
Speaking of IV's, how do you actually check them? I know that Psypoke has a calculator for it, but what's the easiest method of getting accurate numbers?

Level it to 100 and using the calculator is the easiest. Or you could do a battle online that sets your guys at level 100 and check their stats then use the calculator on that.

I got two Phione eggs, about 300 steps apart, but the first one hatched a lot faster than the second (about 1000 steps difference) I had a Slugma (flame body) in my party the whole time too!!

Other users as well as I have noticed this maybe the eggs vary in hatchin gtime is the best we have come up with well can anyone prove that eggs vary in number of steps to hatch?

^I've yet to have hard evidence, besides the fact that it seems to happen to EVERYONE. Like I said, I have never had an egg hatch with the exact number of steps lolstop gives. Granted, I always have Magby in my party when hatching eggs. Maybe Magby only roughly halves the step count, rather than exactly...?

Well, using the steps that Psypoke gives, certain eggs have different hatch times (Happiny taking over 10000, Riolu taking about 6000, etc.). Most likely it's an approximate number. More than likely is that after taking the egg, it recieves a set number of steps to hatch (with the average for most Pokemon being around 5120 steps). But as far as Magma Armor and Flame Body is concerned, it probably cuts the time for those certain egg steps in half. So if a random Shinx egg, for instance, gained a number of 5400 steps to hatch after taking the egg, then MA/FB would make that certain number of steps 2700.
Just a theory.
