The Mew glitch? Yes, it works the same way as R/B.
The MissingNo. glitch? No, unless you're using the Mew glitch to get MissingNo. to appear. (It no longer appears on the side of Cinnabar Island.)

There is no way that you can get mew in the first 3 games. Since mew wasn't created when those games were being made there is no way to have Mew unless you have a cheating device.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have.
I borrowed my friend's Red version because I was suspicious and wanted to see for myself if the cheat was valid. A few days later I caught Mew, traded it to my Gold version, and duplicated it about six times. Then I traded it to my friend's Blue and my Crystal, then on to all the other games we had with us that day. The end result? There is now a Mew on every one of my friend's games and every one of mine.
So try it, you'll like it!

Hey, don't worry about it. You were just being inquisitive, and that's a very good quality to have. I should know, I question people all the time.
(Yeah, I know this got sort of off topic, sorry.)
Anyway, I heard that the Pokemon you encounter via the Mew trick is entirely dependent on the special stat number of the last PkMn you battled. That's why you have to fight that specific guy with the Slowpoke to get it to work.

I know it's possible for your game to crash while attempting the glitch, but will your game be in a normal status afterwards? Like it won't have a higher chance to crash or delete your game. Thanks in advance.

It will only crash if you go directly up to a trainer and challenge them rather than catching their eye and letting them walk over to you instead.
As far as I know, there are no ill effects to the game after you do this. The game I did it on is just fine. I'm sure somewhere there is a case of it messing with the game, but I haven't heard of any yet.

If you want an easy way to get mew get a monster brain, i dont like cheating devices, but if you want to get mew easily (and celebi for GSC) use the monster brain.

the mew glitch really does work i actually do i have mew.
and this is how you do it.
1.get a Pokemon that knows teleport and go up nugget bridge to the grassy area.
2. take a step forward and before the trainer that is there see's you press start and you'se teleport to cerulean pokemon center.
3.fight the first trainer in the gym and ONLY THE FIRST.
4.then go up nugget bridge and some time on it the start screen should pop up after that press b and keep going forward the reason your start screen pops up is because mew is near.
and that is it follow these steps exactly to do it
oh and if you don't believe your bad luck mew is only lv. 7 mine is 21 and it can learn any move. [/url]

This Mew glitch is positively bona fide. I've tried it in my Blue version and the Mew is perfectly normal in all respects. Just follow Miasma's link like I did and nothing should be wrong.
BTW Alex you just did an 8-month "necromancy" (why do they use that word), which is against the rules. Please refrain from that in the future.

Sweet, I was just going to post this topic
My friend did the Mew glitch in his Blue this morning, and everyone was around him saying "OMGOMGOMGOMG"
Lol and we're in 11th grade. It was epic.
So now I'm gonna do it on my Yellow.
Oh, and I didn't see the way to do the Missingno glitch on Yellow. Can someone tell me?

I don't really use a team. I just mix and match the Pokemon I have trained.

Unfortunately, you can't get MissingNo. to appear in Yellow version without first manipulating the "Mew" glitch.
If you understand how to manipulate the glitch (involves Ditto), then look here for a hex list.

Yeah I once screwed up doing that too. I could still here the Music you hear when a trainer sees you but nothing else will happen.
