Murky Cave, you mean? I think it's twenty floors deep.

yeah i just hate that one. if gengar doesnt get knocked out by another pokemon it always falls in a pitfall trap or something! the only advice i have is just be patient - you will get it sometime. a concrete tip though is to make sure your main pokemon has very high iq. because then it will be able to avoid traps, blast through walls, etc. a high iq is an extremely valuable thing to have. being patient also, and going slowly when you have a weak pokemon to escort is also worthwhile. good luck!

It's not the traps it's the ghost type pokemon. One time I needed 3 more to beat it and a Shedinja killed that tub of lard.

0.o I got through on my first try...
Anyway, get Gravelerocks for the Shedinja. They have 5 HP. Gravelerocks do 20 damage. Need I go on? The only problem is that they can still get you through walls and such. I suggest either bringing a Ghost type to lead Gengar through the cave, or just bringing X-Ray Specs and being very careful. Since most of the Pokemon are ghosts, I'd suggest not lurking in corridors and trying to stay in open areas.

Murky cave is 15 floors -_-
Anyways, its pretty easy, I went through with my lv 57 bannette and merked everything with shadow ball and t bolt...
Gravel rocks always pwn againts ghosts, as gravel rocks go through walls..(Wierd but I like it). Bring abunch of those and merk ghosts through the walls with them.

Er no, Murky Cave definitely has twenty floors.
Gravelerocks are the best defence against the random Shedinjas, but aside from that your best strategy would be to equip an X-Ray Specs and stay away from narrow corridors. Should you see any red spots moving towards you, get to an open room asap. You can also bring along another Ghost Pokemon in your party so it can help to fight Ghost Pokemon should you get trapped in a corridor.

I think you should use a move such as Heat Wave. It can help if you are being attacked by a Pokémon, and Gengar is being attacked by another, and you can't bring 'Gar to safety. it also goes through walls, so the Ghosts can't avoid it.
