omg TK started a thread in Music Discussion????
Anyway, when you say music, the first thing I think about is me and my piano. Music to me is not only the commercial singing on TV, Radio, CDs etc, it's about what's at my fingertips.
So let's hear from you guys. What instruments do you play? Any favourite songs you play on those instruments? Any aspirations? How good are you?
As I said earlier, I am a pianist and I've been playing for a very long time. I love playing Final Fantasy music (Nobou Uematsu is a legend) and I've learned the notes to FF7 Aeris's Theme, FF8 Eyes On Me, FF9 Melodies of Life, FFX To Zanarkand and FFX Suteki Da Ne. I also like playing Evanescence - My Immortal and Aladdin - A Whole New World

I have never played an instrument, but my uncle is supposed to teach me how to play the electric guitar soon. (hes in prison right now)
I really love the sounds of Caralos Santana.

Well, way back in the days of elementary school, we used to get to sing and play instruments (occasionally) in class.
I played the flute for a very short time. I stopped because... yeah, that wasn't me.
In 7th grade we got to play guitar for a few classes. I think I learned one song, but I didn't like the guitar. We didn't get picks, or I didn't like playing with a pick over my fingers, and my fingers got numbed down. And it was hard to hold.
When I was like 8 I learned some piano at a friend's house and could some very basic songs like La Bamba and Mary Had a Little Lamb. It was really fun, but I sort of stopped one day. I'd like to learn how to play the piano seriously someday.

My music career started in the 1st grade, when I started learning Recorder (in music class). By fourth grade I could play Soprano, Treble, Alto and Tenor recorder. But, I lost my recorder lessons when I left the USA at the end of the 4th grade. I still have my recorders, but I don't know how to play them. Also, at around grade 3 I started learning how to play the electric keyboard. I continued these lessons until the... 7th grade, I believe. I know for sure that I learned keyboard for 4 years. I eventually lost interest and time, but I still played on my own. I have quite a few "fake books", with TONS of songs I teach myself to play occasionally, mainly classic rock songs. But mainly, I like improvising jazz, blues, and other things (Once I improvized this Oriental-style tune. This can be achived by playing only on the black keys, two at a time). This improvisation always sounds better on a piano, but I don't have one, so I have to live with playing it on my electric organ. Also, I apparently have a very acute sense of rhythm, and can play the drums VERY easily. I don't own a drum set, but a couple of my friends do, so whenever I go over to their houses, I like to play a bit (they usually play other instruments as well, so we can jam).

Well, I attempt to play the piano, but I'm not all that impressive. I've heard TK play, and I'm no match for that. I didn't take lessons until I was.. 12? 12 sounds about right. I've got a 61-key keyboard to continue to practice on (for those who don't know, an actual piano has 88 keys. Yeah, kinda a pain to have to "imagine playing those notes" that half the song is composed of).
Thanks to TK, I discovered To Zanarkand which remains one of my favorite pieces to play; I had it going for nearly 30 minutes the other day. Coincidentally, I just finished sequencing an arrangement of a remix of another game song this morning. The original song is the Robotnik Theme from Sonic 2, the remix is "Robeatnik," which is available as part of the Sonic 2 project on OverClocked Remix.
The midi is available here if you're interested. Note that it's still quite primative; I've still got to adjust the levels, fix a few spots, make it swing a little more like the original remix, that sort of thing. Call it a beta release or something.
For reference: To Zanarkand and "Minuetto" are two of my other favorites I've learned, and Final Zone is on the list, though it looks like the laws of physics are against me on that last one ^^;.

I play the trumpet. My favorite songs on it are Fire Dance, Louie Louie, (I'm sure someone here has heard it before) and One special moment.
I also play the electric keyboard, but not as well as trumpet.

I play recorder, I only know a few songs but I can play them well, I can also tell what note are playing usually by ear, and can get a lot of the stuff right, from thatI can play the simpsons, and others, but I only remember the simpsons, first part I played was that, doo, doo, doo, doo doo doo, doo, doo doo doo doo doo. And I really want to learn to play piano,. I love music and sometimes it makes people get annoyed, almost everytime I sit down for more than 2 minutes I'll start tapping my foot and humming to a song. Now I don't as much because I hurt my foot, mighta broke something.

I really admire people who can sight read (cos I can't ) and people who play by ear (cos I can't )
Yeah I really like the piano because it's so versatile. It can play the parts of many many instruments. At one stage I was being pressured to learn the clarinet, and another stage, the violin. But I did play the recorder at primary school as well, and that was cool, because I knew how to play the New Zealand national anthem, and Amazing Grace

I can sightread too TK! And I love the recorder so very much, but I'd ditch it in a second for the piano. I remember when I thought it was so confusing that it's in the percussion sectio.

I can sight read as well. I can't do it as well as other people, though. I always speed up.
At one point, I could play the theme song to FUTURAMA on the guitar, but that was long ago.

Oh, I'm quite good at playing by ear. My friend and I like to have him start playing a song he knows on guitar, and then I find the notes on piano, and then we improvise off of that. It's quite fun. I can very easily notice a wrong note, and can just as easily find the right one. But what I can do with playing by ear compensates for my lack of ability to sight read. I guess I just don't have enough experience with musical instruments to immediately find the notes, I always have to look at the keyboard, and find them one by one... and then of course, it takes a while until I can string all the notes together into the song... Playing a song for the first time is easy, but learning a song from notes is a slow process for me.

I'm not good at sight reading or playing by ear, but I'll take you any day at dumb luck. I reach over to the keyboard all the time (it's literally a foot away from the computer) and hit a couple notes, and half the time I'm like "hey! That sounds like [insert song here]!" and I end up forcing my way through the melody. Frighteningly enough, I misplayed Ozzy's "Crazy Train" one and it ended up being Smashmouth's "All Star" Frightening, I know, but the notes are quite similar. I do that kind of stuff all the time.

Trumpet. I used to be one of the best in my school but then I stopped, because of basketball, and track.

Well, you find a host (like Geocities, for something basic), upload the MP3 file (96kbps seems to work best) and then you use the URL tags.

I am currently focusing on my keyboard, but I also have two electric guitars.
If I were to be in a band, I would rather be a non-playing singer, though.

Wow...I know someone who plays bari sax in class and bass clarinet in Jazz Band...
Anyway, I'm also trying to improvise some of the songs I play in class, like in fire dance making it faster and instead of quarter notes, a few sixteenth notes in there.
