So I was at the store today, and on my travels I came across Evanescence's Fallen album.
"Oh, why not?" I thought, and threw it in my cart.
I got it home, cranked it on my stereo, and WOW! I already knew that they were good, but sheesh, they rock, dude!
Does anyone else like 'em? If so, what's your favorite song that they do?
Mine is Bring Me to Life. I started to like that one after I woke up to it when my clock radio went off. I just sat on my bed and laughed at the irony. Here was this song that says "Wake me up inside, wake me up inside, call my name and save me from the dark" and it just happened to be playing on that particular station when my alarm went off, which woke me up! Ha! I'm laughing even as I type this....

All their songs sound exactly the same. The only one I can mildly stand is My Immortal, but other than that it's just the same old style with the same old lyrics.

I love Evanescence. I love their music. Especially the full band version of My Immortal. Even though I cry from it about every time. But yeah, they dig their way into your soul, and open you up. They did that to me.

They have a new album due out soon . . . I don't remember what it's called. They had a big lineup shakeup after "Fallen" came out and now all the band members except Amy Lee have changed.
But I do enjoy them. They have this song from the "Origin" album called "Lies" . . . ooh, it gives me chills.

Evanescence = one of my favorite bands of all time. I've got their 'Fallen' album, and two years ago (I think) I got their 'Anywhere but Home' two-disc thing (came with a DVD).
My favorite songs are Tourniquet, Understanding, and Lies. (If I listen to Understanding for long enough, I start getting upset. Quite a sad song... Here are the lyrics, in case you're interested.)
Amy Lee also sang 'Broken' with Seether. That sounded awesome. ^_^

I love evanescence. I love that they have a female vocalist. That is what totally does it for me. Also the lyrics and beats are amazing. I just love them!

Definitely one of my favourite bands. Amy Lee and Seether's 'Broken' is my favourite song out of all the songs I love by any band, but as that's not Evanescence and is just Amy Lee, my favourite Evanescence songs are 'Tourniquet'; 'My Immortal'; 'Whisper'; 'Before the Dawn'; 'Bring me to Life'; 'My October'... The list is actually too long but that's the order at the minute, though it changes.

"Before the Dawn" Is freaking awesome! I listen to that song all the time. Have you ever heard Evanescence's Ultra rare songs? Like "Understanding", "Solitude", "Exodus", "So Close", or "Give Unto Me"?

They used to be amazing. Then Amy Lee's head grew about fifty times its natural size, she kicked or drove everybody else out of the band and she raved about how "mature" The Open Door was, even though it really kind of sucked.

I disagree with you 100 percent. The Open Door was the best so far, I still like Origin and Fallen a lot - but The Open Door really is GREAT. Maybe she kicked the members out because they just weren't mature or something. I know that John and Will left for personal reasons... So she only kicked out 1 person really.

I love the female vocalist. My band is working with a female vocalist atm.
However. As much as you can deny it, she is a good singer, but it wouldn't hurt if she took some singing lessons. I love the music every once in a while, when I'm feeling all emo and stuff but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

When I first heard Amy sing on Fallen, she blew me away. It sounded like she had extensive training as a singer. But my opinion of her as a vocalist slowly diminished as I heard more and more of her live "performances"; to me, she just can't cut it in front of an audience. I've seen her perform live on TV, I've heard live performances of their tracks on singles and such, and I even bought their DVD, and Amy has still yet to impress me outside of the studio.
And one of the reasons I don't like the Open Door (besides thinking that the lyrics don't really say anything to me and that the music is generally uninspired or, even worse, pretentious) is that you don't hear that power in her voice that was on Fallen. Amy is gasping for air during all of her pauses during the boring "Lithium"... the opening of "Your Star" is forced and sounds horrible... "Call Me When You're Sober" is hideously husky... "Sweet Sacrifice" and "Weight of the World" have driving music but the vocals don't have enough bite to them... "Like You" is a droning, moaning bore and I just hate that song.
The only truly good vocal performances on the second album are "Lacrymosa" and "Good Enough." At least to me.

That's what I'm talking about. She mwahs into like, all of her notes. Bla blaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA It just gets repetitive after a while, and her gasping while shoving the mic in her mouth doesn't help.

I don't like anything after Fallen except for Sweet Sacrifice and maybe Lithium. I don't like Amy Lee outside of the studio, either.
I do own Fallen, and shortly after I bought it I made the mistake of leaving it in the car one day. My dad listened to it, and then hovered over me asking questions like 'That was sad music, are you sad?'. >:(
Edit: Oh, and I hated Call Me When You're Sober. Still do.

Yeah, Fallen was definitely the best. Glad my Dad hasn't read City of Bones, then. "That's a story about demons, are you a demon, [name-is-classified]?
"Call me when you're sober" made me die inside. I don't like Amy Lee, now.

Well, I must say I agree that Amy Lee has lost her touch a bit. "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" are two awesome songs off of Fallen, my two favorites. I then discovered The Open Door, and bought some of those songs off of iTunes. Lithium was a bit of a disappointment, though I like Call Me When Your Sober, despite the harsh vocals. It depends what type of vocal style you like, really. Though, she absolutely cannot sing live.

I still like the Open Door
Also HAVE YOU HEARD HER LIVE LATELY? I went to a concert and actually got to watch/isten to her sing in person, and she sounds exactly like her studio voice, though you can tell she's not lip-syncing...
(Um was I supposed to post in an almost 2-month old topic? ^^;)

I have to disagree completely with the person who said that Amy Lee cannot sing live. She came to my state not too long ago and I have to say that she sings live pretty amazingly as long as she doesn't have to sing for about 3 hours straight! I'm sure that any artist who sings for so long gets exhausted, and not to mention unable to sing 'good'.
Also, the reason why Amy Lee's current singing is different than 'My Immortal' and "Bring Me to Life' is because the main songwriter for those songs 'Ben Moody' left the band before they started touring for 'Fallen'. Without him, she can add her own writing style, which is different but I love it.
