I saw it last night. It wasn't as good as they make it out to be. It was more of a comedy for big people and scary movie for like little kids. One scene that I really hated was when Harry was finding out about the egg. He took a bath. Uggh, all the girls were like "show me more! Show me more!" And then Moaning Myrtle tried to peek at him. Uggh! That scene was very annoying unless you're a girl or gay.

Well I thought it was kind of interesting how they even bothered to add that scene( no I'm not gay for thinking the scene was okay). Actually what pissed me off about the movie was the Quddicth World Cup becuase they didn't show it all. Also the Dragon scene ( which they could have made shorter becuase it took up to much time to were they could be showing better things) which they completely changed, they made it sound as though Harry barley made it alive when in the book he out smarts the Dragon. Last but not least the maze they didn't even bother to add the Sphinx which I was waiting to see, also what's up with the wind and the walls closing in. That's another thing that the director decided to add in.

Ditto. I was really looking forward to the Quiditch World Cup and I was looking forward to the Sphinx. They didn't have any of Hagrid's classes which was important because of the maze with the blasted ended skrewts. then what about his prize? that was important because fred and george use that money to start their Joke Shop in the sixth book. Like I said, I liked it and I didn't like it. It's more of a comedy for adults and scary movie for kids. It definately wasn't as good as they make it out. But, the cemetery scene was pretty good and Malfoy getting turned to a ferret.
they're getting a new director for the new HP movie OotP. It had better be good. The first two were good with Steve Kloves, and then the third totoally pwned and this one doesn't live up to the first two but is definately a lot better than the PoA.

Well you know what really ticked me off is how they skiped all of the Harry and Hermoine traning sessions. They made it sound as if Harry already knew all those spells that he didn't know in the other movie( if you are only a Harry potter movie fan and ignore the books) and how Harry would just not say the spells and they would just work, he dosen't know how to do that till book six were he could berly do it then

Another thing that ticked me off was how he was allready at the weasleys instead of ron coming to get him through the fire place and dudley's toungue growing. that would have been funny.

I saw the movie as well. I thought it was okay, but it cut out quite a bit from the book (imagine how long it would've been if they hadn't though). It was overall a good movie, but I think the plot of "Harry goes to Hogwarts, Voldemort returns, Harry defeats/gets away from Voldemort" is starting to become boring.
My favorite of the movies so far is the Chamber of Secrets.

Oh yeah, and agreed. I was waiting and waiting for that part to end. -_-

That's precisely why I felt that the third book was my favourite; it was a refreshing change as there was little mention of Voldemort in the story. I find how Sirius turned out to be innocent, and was Harry's godfather to be a feel-good tale. The fact that Sirius had to flee eventually was sort of sad, but a good way to twist the storyline I guess.
The third movie was also much better than the second and first, because it was more fast-paced. I especially disliked the second movie; somehow even the scene where Harry fought the Basilisk could make me yawn.
I haven't watched the fourth movie though, so I'm curious to find out whether it'll be better (which I believe it would be) or worse than the third one.

Well personally I think that the Prizoner of Azkaban was one of the worst becuase of the lack of Voldemort. The movie was fuuny becuase of the faces Harry kept making but the book sucked. The only good thing about that book was that you meet Harrys Godfather, but I knew that wasn't going to last long becuse all of the people that are close to him always die or leave himby himself( which actually makes me sad every time it happens). I mean his Mom and Dad, Preffesor Lupin, Surius and Dumbledore. I wouldn't be suprised if Hagrid dies in the next book which would suck.

Well I'm going to have to kick up a bit of a fuss here and agree with some and disagree with others. After seeing it today I was quite disappointed.
Firstly, the pacing. Good grief it was terrible at the start. They flick from the Riddle House scene, to The Burrow scene to the world cup to the attack to the school to the triwizard tournament so unbelievably fast I'm surprised anyone who hadn't read the book could string together what was going on. In a movie already 2 1/2 hours long, 15-30 extra minutes to slow things down would have made it a whole lot better. IMDB trivia says this: "Mike Newell decided against the studio's original idea of adapting the 734 page book into two separate films to be released several months apart, figuring that he could cut enough of the book's bulky subplots to make a workable film". I agree two movies wouldnt have worked, but too much subplot's gone. Theres barely any character development. To hype up the Quiddith World Cup, have Fudge announce it and then...NOT SHOW ANY OF IT?! What were they thinking? They might as well not have gone in the first place! Making the third task simply a run through a maze was lame. A few simple creatures an obstacles like in the book would have made it somewhat more than just running and avoiding the closing hedges.
Also the lack of explanation on some things left the plot too dribbly. Portkeys. "It's a portkey Harry". That tells us a lot. They don't explain the joke with Hagrid about being a giant, and Madame Maxine not being a giant. There just seems to be so much missing.
Secondly the character butchering. I'm fully aware that these characters are going through hormone changes and are interested in others now, but the way they portrayed it in this was terrible. Hermione for some reason, had turned from the calm, intelligent and cunning character in the first three movies to this dimwitted fluffy girl totally overrun by hormones. This ain't the case in real life people. In the books she helps out Harry so much with all the spells for the tournament. Hermione being one of the more favourite characters shouldn't have had this injustice - they'll simply kill off fan base.
The teachers - where the hell were they? Where the hell were the interesting lessons? One by moody to explain the unforgivables and thats it? If people hadn't read the book I'd be surprised if they even realised they were at a school!
Dumbledore - the character change here wasn't very good. They should have stuck with the persona they built up in the third - when he does the things he does in future movies, it's going to look plain weird.
Draco - for such a huge role in the 6th movie, I'm surprised they gave him so little screen time. You'd be wanting to keep emphasising their rivalry.
Cho Chang - Sorry but how boring This could have been done so much better if they'd actually read the book.
Thirdly, the music. I don't know if many others pick up on music in movies but good grief they should have begged John Williams to stay. The opening credits has a terribly buthered version of the theme song which just doesn't work. The music throughtout gets no better. Whenever anything unexpected is about to happen - notice the happy music turn WARNING AND OMINOUS a few seconds before the unexpected thing is revealed. Nice work - I NEVER would have guessed something bad was about to happen.
However there were some great things about this movie. Everything Beauxbatons was done really well for starters. Their costumes and Fleur's beauty.
Most of the cg was done exceptionally well ( I didn't like the Harry as a fish, Krum as a shark and the merpeople cg). The dragon was great and most of it was pretty seemless.
The whole first task was done magnificently (although a little long). The quarry, the fire, the pace, the vulnerability of Harry.
Most of the humour was pretty decent and it was action packed. Some of the scenes were shot really well in terms of setting up suspence and getting the heart racing.
The locations were all chosen captivating their magesticness and enormity (althought the hogwarts grounds have once again dramatically changed)
(Aside) For those who live in the UK or have seen Dr. Who (the new series) should be laughing with me after seeing Barty Crouch Jr. I had no idea David Tennant (the new Doctor) would be playing him.
Overall I still think Prisoner of Azkaban is still the best HP movie so far, but Goblet comes in an easy second. Alfonso Cuaron did Azkaban so well and should be invited back to do the 6th or 7th movie. Mike Newell I fear lacked the experience. (David Yates is down for the 5th and based on the storyline and his past experience, it's not going to go well
So I'd give it...a 6.8/10

Okay that makes me happy that other people on psypoke think that the movie was sad Thank you everyone I talk to about it thimks that it was the best movie that they ever seen.I think that the first part of the movie was sad also I mean they showed some of the first chapter in the beggining but then in after that they skiped about 5 chapters becuase if I'am correct I think that the Qudditch World cup was on chapter 6. Any ways thatnks guys for at least thinking that the movie was way off key.

(David Yates is down for the 5th and based on the storyline and his past experience, it's not going to go well
So I'd give it...a 6.8/10
Amphy
Yeah, they cut about a good 100 pages outta the movie, along with Barty's interrogation. He doesnt get "kissed" by a Dementor, Harry cries strange, Mr. Diggory is......weird, and Mad-Eye doesnt have a chunk out of his nose, eye is NOT electric blue like in book, as you said jumps scenes, dramatic music BEFORE dramatic event. THEY DONT SHOW THE VEELAS! I wanted to see them..... Rita doesnt get captured, much less half of her interviews "disappear", Dobby, not Neville, is supossed to give Harry the gillyweed, the "lessons" not existing.... the "bathtub scene" was NASTY.
5/10.

Oh, well, tl/dr
You should be more succint next time, Amphy, that looked like a Nido movie review :/
Anyways

I think that was your most important point in the whole reply.
Things happened so fast I couldn't believe the movie was over when it ended. It seemed like a one-hour lenght movie, but it was indeed 2 and a half hours. And indeed, I bet people who hadn't read the 4th book were totally lost. Cutting off so many scenes and shortening lots of them was just awful: the same happened in the previous movies, but it didn't resulted in such a huge confusion of events.
About cutting off scenes. Why shortening an important one instead of a totally disposable one? That ball was ridiculously long, while other scenes, essential for the development of the plot, were stupiditly short. And how about the characters? Jesus, where WERE they? That movie was basically Harry-Moody, it seemed that everyone else disappeared! Not only scenes, but character's presences were also cut off too drastically.
Amphy wrote: Hermione for some reason, had turned from the calm, intelligent and cunning character in the first three movies to this dimwitted fluffy girl totally overrun by hormones. This ain't the case in real life people. In the books she helps out Harry so much with all the spells for the tournament.
I trully hope they'll recover the real Hermione on the 5th movie, because she indeed didn't look like herself in The Goblet of Fire. They simply killed a character by throwing her in a situation that was way too exaggerated, even though it dealed with hormones and all this dangerous teenager stuff.
Despite that I have to admit I liked the movie. Probably because the 4th book was the best out of the six. My favorite scene was the first, when they arrive to the Quidditch field and the Death Eaters burned everything. All that despair was exciting.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot. They all are so pretty now that they've grown. I, for some reason, payed more attention to the Weasly twins than to anything else surrouding them. And the same happened with Cedric Diggory and Draco Malfoy. However, Severus Snape is still my Harry Potter series heroe (and you can't imagine how frustrated I was to see his MAJOR and HUGE three appearances in the movie).

Quote: and weak performances from the kids in what were meant to be very dramatic scenes.
"I trully hope he finds me. 'Cause when he does, I'm gonna be ready! 'Cause when he does, I'm gonna kill him!!!!" *furiously pants*
Quote: Watson, if melodramatic at times, does show great skill in the Yule Ball scenes, combining a sort of pre-teen squirminess and excitement with dark, teenage frustration and overreaction.
It was quite good, but way too much for our fave know-it-all, quiet and radically polite Hermione. Not what you expect from, but maybe what trully happens with these kind of people.
Quote: Grint, though, truly shines among the three, as he gets a chance to show his drama chops, instead of being reduced to merely a source of comic relief (although he does have his share
