DragonPhoenix's discoveries

- You can play as a chick or a dude
- Old berry trees are now all apricorn trees: I'm so sure it takes less than 24 hours for them to grow
- your 1st rostered pokemon follow you.. and you can watch them do on field HM moves!
- You can't pick them until you get the pouch/holder from GS Berry Man
- you can set it so you're on running shoes 24/7!! no need to hold down B any more!
- Other characters now rush at different speeds! very nifty. eg: at cherrygrove you're given a tour by an impatient man. you walk simultaneously with his sprinting!! (WELL I FOUND IT EXCITING OK)
- Sprout tower is now mandatory
- Location pictures like in LGFR!
- Gyms have been given a makeover, and like 4th gen they talk when their losing and stuff
- above, I spelt they're wrong intentionally to irk people with OCD
- you can register TWO key items! love this
- Togepi now at lv1 with extrasensory & you get it from the guy in the Pokemart as opposed to pokecenter (took me aaages to figure this out)
- union cave layout changed a bit
- on field weather (rain) in the game
- there are TWO farfectch'd to catch and you have to snaek up on them from behind (aaages for me to figure that out)
- kimono girls randomly walking about

I will continue this tomorrow... actually I've beaten morty but my fingers are getting tired from typing

&& if you have the game feel free to post your own discoveries! but make it like chronological and dont hog it too much lol (preferable if there are changes from the origs, this isn't meant to be a timeline so dont be like:
- beat whitney
- got squirtbottle
etc
)

All this stuff might be known, but I don't see a site anywhere that lists them in a cohesive and legible manner (or maybe because I haven't looked thoroughly... you know). in any case its a legitimate topic because I don't see any other duplicates in this forum.

- day care people now harass you
- goldenrod is massive. and can't remember but I think the answers to the radio are y/y/ (cant remember the rest)
- You can see the rail in other routes too (over hanging)
- Burnt tower works a bit like crystal except its now easier to get to the dogs
- you fight a dancing rocket for Surf instead of the eevee kimono girls
- I actually lost against Morty the first time I fought him -.-;
- Lake of rage a bit different.. especially where you got hidden power
- Lance's dragonite is hollering with him
(i went to L.o.R before olivine.. such a rebel)

- You can get rematches with Gym Leaders,but you need to get their number and call them first ... they will wait at the Karate Dojo in Saffron and stay there until you fight.
- Steven gives you a hoenn starter, and Oak gives you a Kanto starter both after you beat Red.
- You get a Multi-Battle You & Rival vs Lance & Clair.
- My DS' B button thanks God for the new Running Shoes.
- Shiny pokémon keeps being shiny when following you.
- New Movetutors includes STRING SHOT !
- Red fights you under permanent Hail and many of his pokes uses Blizzard with perfect accuracy.
- Pokethlon is awesome and provides you easy rare candies.
- Sabrina's Sprite changed.
- All form changing pokémon still changes formes.
- Lapras are available at ALL fridays...
- There's still a VS Recorder
- GTS is absolute identical to DPPt
- Golduck's , Persian's ,Tyranitar's others sprites are horrible...
- Some Ubers are so big when they are following you, that they can't be send out on a pokecenter and some houses.

LOL. :) It does amaze me that so many people get their and they're mixed up. Your and you're get mixed up, too.

That's interesting about there being different field sprites for shiny Pokemon! :)
Glad to hear there will be location pictures - when I played LeafGreen, I thought those images were a really nice touch.

i played pokemon for 4 hours straight today, respect points to me! 8-) (seriously i need a life though.....) anyway.. continuing on where i left off (finished classes for the year so i have a lot more free time :wink: )

- miltank is still sick (im not sure what you have to feed him... BUT the sick one's cry is a lot lower than the other ones, neat!)
- olivine has all flags and stuff to be decorative
- you can't fish on the ss aqua pier any more (booo)
- you can't get chinchou at olivine no more (*tear*)
- lighthouse actually looks like a lighthouse... and its pretty sweet the way they've redesigned it
- whirl island whirlpools are massive - and you're not allowed in them so you can't get spit back out
- suicune at cianwood
- you can take a picture of your team at cianwood
- chuck's gym no longer requires strength
- safari zone is in a cave.. thought that was pretty radical
- jasmine's gyms have "trainers" that don't battle you..
- rocket hideout's surveillance cameras ARE surveillance cameras
- the murkrow now leads you to the bosses (instead of revealing the password)
- typho's back sprite is bad ass
- you double battle with lance (in the original games he battled a grunt while you took on the boss.. unfair huh?)
- pryce's gym now consists of rooms (ie, worse than before)
- to enter radio tower you need a disguise! (its pretty neat actually)
- only to have your cover blown by your rival (seriously dude **** off im trying to save the world)
- you can grab all the goldenrod store's basements items in one visit
- rocket boss has his own observatory tower in the radio tower (??? i dont know)
- the ragecandybar is called sweet anchor or something like that
- ice path's puzzle are minorly harder (maybe cos i just forgot how to solve them tho...)
- ice path is actually home to ice pokemon and not this zubat bs..

that's all i got up to... question, has anyone realised that wild pokemon encounters in this game are amped up ten fold? seems like every two steps i take I run into something, very annoying. also i got myself a new favourite pokemon (lanturn)

umm small updates (im sure everyone knows this already but I am going to plough through)

- When you run into a legendary dog, the music is different (you know the siren when you run into pokemon on field.. that's different too).
- I ran into Raikou in the water! (and entei on the route below blackthorn)
- Clair's gym no longer requires strength to clear
- clair is a TOTAL BITCH TO BEAT (jynx and swinub are pretty much pathetic against her)
- dragon's den has trainers in there (I've only played crystal once so im not sure if that's a change...)
- Using whirlpool you travel through them similar like you would a waterfall
- i THINK you get extremespeed dratini if you answer the right questions but since I can't read japanese i can't confirm this
- After you reach NB town, you can't go to Kanto directly
- Lugia sidequest is now MANDATORY
- Finally! you get to beat the 5 kimono girls (you have to do them in succession and they are @lv38)
- You get an item called "tin something" (can't remember) and you need this item PLUS silver wing to reach lugia. If you only have one of them, stiff ****. (in other words... you can't go for the birds right after rescuing the radio Tower)
- Whirl islands require Surf, Strength and Flash
- when you reach lugia.... its pretty epic... its.. EPIC!! I would show you guys some screenshots but for some reason my emulator wont load my SAV file. I'll try again later though.

I got soul Silver and there are version exclusive differences - the main one being you get ursaring family in SS and donphan family in HG. Delibird and skarmory remain in SS though. (might discover more stuff later)

So far I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of wild Pokemon variety - you can't get Heracross, Houndour, Slugma etc yet nor can you get RBY classics like diglett and stuff YET and it seems like I've run into the same boring Pokemon all the time

Team is Typhlosion, Lanturn, Fearow, Jynx, Gyarados (HM), Skarmory (HM) (don't train a jynx.. PhySpec split killed her especially without access to TMs) hopefully I'll add Lugia to the team but its being stubborn :|

I just thought it would be nice to have a nice cohesive list that outlines my progress in the game & my discoveries... yes I know I could go to Serebii and mooch over what they have, or look up gamefaqs or neoseeker and c/p their guides but simply put this isn't a walkthrough. (not a proper one by any means) Plus that's plain lazy

anyway no updates cos i haven't caught Lugia yet :( (well... I have exams coming up too)

This is a rather small discovery, but I traded a pokemon from HG/SS with the legend ribbon and it still shows it in platinum. Kind of odd, huh? And, you can soft reset on Suicune.

ok i dont have any thing to expose about HG and SS but i do have a question. do you only get the pokewalkerif u pre-order? ive asked other people a million times and they said yes and i just want to make sure. my brother wants to get SS w/ the pokewalker.

It always comes with a PokeWalker. If you Pre-order you get a little figurine of Ho-oh and Lugia (to their perspective games)
