The Latis' have genders. They just didn't give Mewtwo a gender because... dunno, to be honest. They didn't give any legendaries genders in GSC.

The reason for that being that we could get an unlimited number of legendaries (that is, with out trading...). Keep in mind that GSC was when Nintendo was first starting to test the waters with PkMn genders and breeding.

Anyway, Mewtwo IS an uber, but it is also a sidequest. I believe Nintendo put Mewtwo in the game, to be the final destination, and to be the goal of the game. Mewtwo is not so bad, and although it is an uber, I think hes cool.
I agree. is really your choice to catch. I loved actually having something to look forward to after the E4. Also isn't better than (my opinion) but he isn't anything to complain about. As for the 3 birds. I never really liked em even though they looked cool.

I love Mewtwo. Mew is fun for the challenge of catching as well but overall i like mewtwo better. He just looks cooler in my opinion. As for the 3 birds, I liked Zapdos the best. The other two just weren't all that great.

The point of Legendaries is to have cool music playing in the backround.

*laughs* It's as good a reason as any.
I don't know. I kinda Mewtwo, its an interesting Pokemon, its powerful and it has a really good backstory. I didn't ever use mine much on my Blue because I like a challenge and Mewtwo makes stuff too easy. I mean, Mewtwo is cool, but he was never a permanent member on my team.
I do think that adding him in to try and catch him at the end was a nice touch. I loved how you could keep playing Pokemon after you did all the story and Mewtwo made that possible, in a way. But he is mostly a trophy for finishing everything. A nice one, mind you. Purple is my favourite colour!

Mewtwo Is A Legendary, Duh. And Legendaries Are At High Levels, Duh.
Here's The Story Of Mewtwo...
"It All Started At The Cinnabar Pokelab, The Pokemon Professors Found The Pokemon, Mew. They Tried Making A Clone Out Of It, But It Was A Really Big Clone That Was Purple Instead Of Pink. The Professors Called It Mewtwo, It Could Talk. They Were Controlling Mewtwo But It Got So Mad It Escaped The Lab By Burning It! And Now Mewtwo Is Loose In Cerulean Cave"

ok i picked mewtwo is the best of red/blue/green/yellow. because if u wasted the master ball by mistake or u want a challage then he was it,besides by then u will have a team that is uber strong, besides on emerald u could get ol'ray after the big fight between groundon and kyroge,i know i have done it.

I think that they put Mewtwo in because they were lacking some legendaries

Ok this is what i think. (i appologies for typin cause im typin on PSP) .
Legendary Pokémon are a challenge to catch but shouldn't be legal to use against trainers. Sure legendary Pokemon are cool and some are phenominal but tell me if anyone agrees with this:
Some people iknow actually released there starter Pokemon because they had tought there legendary solarbeam or fire blast. Now picture this your partner who has nothing but be loyal to you and then you betray it by not giving it any battle time.

Well I kind of disagree. Cerulean cave was filled with strong tough pokemon, and a peace-loving mew would be out of place there. Also, mewtwo was the cloning disaster, and should be easier to find since he was once in captivity, and needed to hide somewhere.
I mean I know I sound like a noob, but I think mewtwo is awesome, same with mew, and they deserve some respect. All the people who didn't gameshark red version know he Mewtwo a real toughie to capture(well, unless you used master ball), and he really is strong. In later games, he is weaker to different attacks. So he's only an unfair uber on red and blue. But I think you guys should just accept that he's there and use him to your advantage.
Kingler has spoken.

Why did they create it?
Easy; on every game, there's an ultra-super-hyper über that you can catch after E4. On R/B/Y/G this was Mewtwo, on G/S/C this was Lugia and on R/S/E this was Rayquaza. Those ultra-super-hyper über-strong PKMN are kinda like prizes to people whom managed to beat the E4. Got it?

yeah that's why i don't use legends unless it's for the battle frontier. I can't imagine saying go Regirock against some person. BTW Ash fought Brandon and He has the Regis.

Right, this is probably late, but in the anime, battle factory noland used articuno, and battle pyramid dude used the regis.

Mewtwo WAS definately overpowered, but that was why he was saved for after the Elite Four. If he could be obtained before the Elite Four he would have simply overpowered them and would have ruined the fun, but as a final pokemon he was meant to be the last hurdle (minus Mew) before you became a true master by collecting all 150 (Mew being the 'secret' hurdle after him). Each game since has had a 'final hurdle' and 'secret hurdle' meaning Lugia and Celebi as well as Rayquaza and Deoxys.

Mewtwo was probably created as an Uber in Red and Blue, and it may have been unfair back then because he was the only one of his kind, but now there are a vast amount of legendaries, but so far I believe he is still the only Uber (apart from Kyogre maybe). The reason is that Mewtwo has phenomenal stats which are higher than any other Pokemon's stats in existence. Also, his pure-Psychic type narrows down weaknesses to Ghost and Dark, and resistance to Steel, all of which are somewhat rare. Sure Lugia is Psychic and Flying with great stats, but it's that half Flying nature that allows him to get creamed. Also Mewtwo is the only Psychic besides Mew to learn Thunder so then he functions as a "legendary bird killer". And Rayquaza? He's just a Dragonite with higher HP and Extremespeed, nothing more.
I rest my case. Mewtwo will never die!

well thats obvious
nintendo first made as pokemon 151 then later on they fond they left out pokemon 150 so they desidet to make a clone of mewtwo thus
this is how cloning was created on the series no no cloning aslo no no cloning gltich because the cloning was programmed into the game der.
but youll never see a trainer in the anime with legendary

actually this is wrong in the battle factory noland uses an articuno against ash so you are wrong i am right

catching mewtwo is like the reward for playing the game well, and give you something to feel proud of

Well, Mewtwo is the same as Groudon, Lugia, e.t.c. It was the first pkmn that was the main powerhouse in the game. Some people think that these things are "cheap". But they're not "cheap" if anyone can catch them. I just think those people are stupid and don't want to take advantage of these legendaires because "they are too good for them".

I think it's the opposite... people think that the legendaries are on a HIGHER level. Sure, they're overused, but not cheap. ¬¬" A lot of people just use them for show, and in reality they have no good attacks or stats because they used GS to get lots of Rare Candies. If a trainer has raised their Pokemon reasonably, then there's really no reason they should become 'illegal' just because they're rarer or they look big and strong.
As for the topic, I actually quite like Mewtwo... humanoid Pokemon are awesome. I'm not that big a fan of the rest of the legendaries, except for Raikou and Lugia. The 'point' of them is simple-- just like any other game, you have a main objective to reach. Pokemon actually has several things you can do so it doesn't become tedious or boring, and capturing the legendaries is just one of those things. I really don't see what the fuss is all about.
