Before they came out, Nintendo started to go downhill. Pokemon and it's popularity died, and quick. But right after they came out, there business jumped right back up.

So, should we thank FireRed and LeafGreen for saving Nintendo?

Maybe, they've had great sales in the U.S. and in Europe which turns into lots of $$$$$.

FR/LG saving NINTENDO as a company is a completely ridiculous assumption. It might have helped Pokemon maintain some of it's popularity, but the Anime not sucking, new TCG sets and a new movie/DVD set also helped. FR/LG was one of the reasons Nintendo made some cash in 2004, but they also made huge new games like Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2, and Pikmin 2 which unlike FRLG weren't rehashes. It's just silly to say Pokemon 'saved' the company.

Very true, all of those games were very fun and very solid (espicially Paper Mario. Oooo I just turned into a paper airplane) and they sold well.

Agree with Frost... You can suggest that FR/LG saved Pokemon, but it definitely did not "save" the company Nintendo.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I know Nintendo itself was doing great. I think what I was trying to say, as you already stated, that the games saved Pokemon. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Yes because i bought both versions and i simply love the originals nothing beats the original and the sequels[...cough gold silver crystal...end cough] totally pushed the limit of pokemon. Did you ever notice that the pokemon from johto have never made a return!!
