I was recently told that timer balls work better on ledgendaries than ultra balls do. I don't think it's true, but thought I'd ask you all before I go out and spend all my game money on one or the other. I have a very limited budget if you know what I mean. Heh...
On a slightly different subject: I wonder how many turns of battle it takes to make a timer ball work as well as a master ball?

If the battle goes long enough a Timer Ball is most effective. However, it being as good as a Master Ball, I'm not so sure. It is definitely good for saving the Master Ball for the three dogs though! 8)

Yeah, that would be good! But, I was just wondering if anyone knew exactly how many turns it would take to make a timer ball work as well as a master ball. Oh, well....

A Timer Ball will never become as good as a Master Ball, but it goes close. If I remember correctly, every ten turns in battle makes the Timer Ball better by a notch. Maybe someone who knows more than me *coughToncoughberrycoughking* can tell us more?

You can count the number of turns and every ten turns it gets slightly better like I said. I can't remember exact figures though

Gee I just saw that info from somewhere before; I'm not the one who verified that the Timer Ball does get better. Can't remember where I saw the info though, if not I would have posted a link or something.

What are timer balls? How are they different from ultra balls?
I caught my two legendaries, and using around 10 ultra balls and 10 great balls.

Gee dont always rely on Tomberry King to pull through I'm very smart too anyway it is true that a Timer Ball can be the best look at it this way I used up 14 Ultra Balls to try and catch a cause its that hard then I used a Timer Ball and it got cuaght instantly just stall and hope for the best (u never now u could very well catch it before using the Timer Ball) and when many turns have passed and your all out of options the Timer Ball ball works very well

uhhhhh..... I heard my name!
When you throw a Pokeball, there are 4 factors taken into account that determines whether you catch a Pokemon:
- Current HP and Max HP
- Status Effect
- Pokeball catch rate
- Pokemon catch rate
As you may know from experience, a Pokemon with less HP and a Pokemon with a status effect is easier to capture. And you will also find that Mewtwo is so much harder to catch than Caterpie. The remaining factor is this Pokeball catch rate, and often comes in the form of a multiplier. That is, this Pokeball will increase your chances of catching a Pokemon by a certain amount.
- Pokeballs, Luxury Balls and Premier Balls have a catch rate of x 1
- Great Ball x1.5
- Ultra Ball x2
- Net Ball x1 but can be x3 if catching a Bug or Water type
- Dive Ball x1 but can be 3.5 if battling underwater
- Nest Ball is x((40 - Opponent's Level) / 10). This ranges from x1 to x3
- Repeat Ball is x1 but can be x3 if you have already caught the Pokemon
and finally...
- Timer Ball is x((Turn Number + 10) / 10) and ranges from x1 to x4
- Master Ball is.. well, it doesn't really have a multiplier. You all know what this does
So the longer the battle, the more effective the Timer Ball becomes. As for making a section on it... um.. if I can be bothered, yeah sure, why not?
