I used Tropius and Spheal, though in the beginning I use Zigzagoon (mainly for it's ability though). Though personally I don't really like the term slave, I try to use Lackey, or Pokemon of the Lower-Class Which Does Not Battle, or something like that.

I'm not a big fan of "slave" either. I always refer to them as utility Pokemon.

I tweaked the title just a bit, since I'm not really a fan of "pokemon slaves."
For me, my favorite utility Pokemon would have to be Zigzagoon. He can Surf, pick up items, and after he is evolved, you're only a good moveset away from a member of your battling team. What more could you want?
How many people are surprised I didn't say Mew. Come on now, be honest.

I'm not really surprised, I think it'd be a waste to make your favorite pokemon a "utility" pokemon.
Mine are Tropius and soon to be Swampert.

Oh, Swampert will be my utility slave too one day. Just as soon as I find a substitute Water Pokemon for Elite Four.

True, you have a point. It's just that I figured more people would say Mew, because how many other 00ber pokes can learn all TM's and HM's.

Oh, no wait, I take that back. You could just get Mew in RBY, and use the Time Traveling thingy in GSC to trade with your RBY. Sorry bout' that.

I feel all special since everyone adopted my terminology.
I have a team of Zigs that are raking in items like it's nobody's business. I love them so much it's sad...pathetic, really.

I use an for Water HM's and Strength, a very low level zigzagoon for cut and flash. Pelipper (until Rayquaza was caught) for Fly. Soon to be permanent: Mightyena for Rock Smash.

I've had some in my time. There are moments when I don't realize until I can't get the moveset I want because of it.
In Ruby/Sapphire alone, I have three:
Golduck
Tropius
Azumarill
The thing I hate about HMs is that you can't unlearn them, even if you were stupid and only needed to use the thing once with a certain Poke. And it clogs up your movesets so you can't quite stylize them the way a trainer might want.
Other than that, Utilities (great word!) are awesome. (Sucks when the Poke is confused, however...)

To me "utility" or "slave" pokemon are "travel" pokemon. You only use them when you're going somewhere, right?
I have used Azumarill, Zigzagoon/Linoone, Geodude/Graveler, Dragonite, Lapras, Wailord, Tropius, Seaking, and a few others. I won't name the movesets because I don't think it necessary. (You can guess pretty easily what I had in mine based on what others said were in their "travel" Pokemon' movesets.)
Pokemon can be made to forget HMs by the Move Deleter.
I'm surprised that no one brought up anything about the pokemon that can learn FLY AND SURF
because that's one thing that has ALWAYS bothered me - only being able to have a team of five pokemon. (Being ADD I must have both moves available otherwise I'm constantly running to PCs so I can do something else before I forget about it.) Those are the 2 HMs that are used most often, right?
So here's a list of which pokemon can learn FLY AND SURF :
Dragonite
Pellipper
Mew
Smeargle
I'm not familiar with Diamond/Pearl so can't add any pokemon from that generation. Feel free to add to my list with DP pokemon or any pokemon from older generations that I missed.
Hope this helps someone.
These HMs are in order of how often I use them.
1. Fly
2. Surf
3. Cut
4. Rock Smash
4 1/2. Headbutt (for older generations)
5. Strength
6. Dive
7. Waterfall
8. Flash

Very good point about Fly/Surf. I would agree with most of the stuff for that "order" you had.
But it would help if I knew where the Move Deleter was. (Thanks for reminding me of that...)
I don't try to make Pokemon utilities until the point where I end up doing it without thinking about it...
