I'm not a competitive battler myself, so I can't really form an opinion about it...but I am curious as to why you would think they go well together. I mean, why have two psychic types in play during a double battle?

Indeed, Kurushel. Both dead by wrath of Gengar and Alakazam with Shadow Ball.
Having two types of Pokemon out at once on the field in a double battle is usually a bad idea - it's easier to exploit a single weakness, instead of other combos.
One of the better (not best) double battle combos is to employ EQ and have your partner be a flyer or Levitater. This way you can deal huge damage without any backlash to your partner.
A similar combo, which is only for DP and not the Advanced Gen, involves using Surf and a Water Absorb Pokemon. With this, the opponent takes damage, AND you end up healing your partner as a perk.
(I have got to try that one day.)

The only aspect I see as being good is that you have a Special Attacker and a Physical Attacker. Those two roles could be filled by more diverse types though. So I go with no.

The only similarities between them I see besides the same color / family is they attract a very large and obnoxious fanbase.

Krisp has a point, they would both be easily taken down with a Gengar's or Alakazam's Shadow Bolt. Since I don't Competitive battle, I'm not sure if this would be a bad choice. Although, I have had this pair while battling friends, and they were ok. Overall, it all depends on your opponents pokemon, or if you think it's ok. It's your decision.

Kurushel made that point actually...
Gallade is too slow and too fragile for it to work seriously. Gardevoir is good - not Alakazam/Azelf good, but good nonetheless - but would be better paired with something defensive or a better physical attacker e.g. Weavile.
I'm also amazed that votes were tied until I voted :O

gardevoir is best alone as a special sweeper or healing is fun too, but 2 psys together is hard to pull off liek said before what happens when you face a ghost?

In short, we could conclude that there are better special and physical sweepers out there to fill the roles instead, like Alakazam and Gengar (duh), Infernape, Garchomp, Dragonite...the list goes on and on. Gardevoir is just a tidge too slow to be useful, but Gallade is obnoxiously slow, and should never see the light of a real battle. The only real thing nifty about Gallade is it just learns a bunch of high crt% chance moves. Meh.

Yeah, that mediocre speed and horrible defense makes it a great sweeper! Definitely!

Mediocre speed is the big one. Horrible defense? Hello there, Alakazam.

Quick Claw is rather unrealiable try Choice Specs although I don't know why u'd want to use one.

Hypnosis + Dream Eater is even more unreliable. I recommend something else. Like, I dunno, Shadow Ball!?
