Wich one do you prefer?
Battling related: Thyplosion>Feraligatr>Meganium.
If you are aiming for diamond and pearl however, feraligatr is a very good choice (got dragon dance and many decent moves)

I like Typhlosion, I'd go for him if I were you. I just really love special sweepers.

Flamethrower is much better than Flame Wheel but my choice is the same chose Cyndaquil. But if you want one for PD chose Totodile.

I would choose . It evolves quite fast into its third stage. Feraligtr has the least weaknesses of all three and has nice attack and defense. Cyndaquil is good too, but try not to choose Chikorita. It's not that bad, but its not that good too.

Dark Mew, try mixing records with a friend who has Ruby or Sapphire. You might get a swarm of them. Failing that, trade a Surskit.
Bobobob, I'd personally go with one to either compliment my starter, so I'd pick Chickorita to take out the water types my Blaziken can't deal with. Either that, or just pick your favourite.
Ultimately, the decision is yours. We can offer advice, but you're the one who has to pick in the end.

I have Emerald and my bro has Sapphire... will that work [besides the fact that I only have one GBA and 2 DS's]?

(Even though I have all three of each region) I would get Cyndaquil. I was in need of a Johto Fire type. Which reminds, me I haven't even gotten the Johto starter from Birch yet. No worries, I already got them.......................

Totodile gets some great moves from breeding(Rock Slide and Crunch for ex.), but would work better in PD due to damage type changes for many of his moves. The changes would make them more useful. However, Typhlosion packs a big special punch, and is an excellent sweeper. Between Thunderpunch(for RSE) and Eruption(which his speed makes great usage of), he's got some good moves at his side.
