I think he means that your rival in GSC is Giovanni's son, not your rival in RBY. I've heard theories of both, but I believe in the Rival-in-GSC-is-Giovanni's-son theory.

As do I. Why would your rival want to defet team rocket? He didn't. Chances are, he would have helped them for his dad. Also, he stole his starter, so he was probebly told that stealing pokemon was ok. This is why i think, as Truestar would say, the red haired FREEEEEEEEK is Giovanies son.

Giovanni has black hair, so the boy must've gotten his red hair from his mother. I decree his mother is either Jesse or....Peggy Bundy!

The jesse/peggy thing was a bit innapropriate, however, don't mind me, I'm just a bug catcher. Anyways, I couldn't find the scientist, but I thought of G2R as just a theif, he stole a pokemon because he wanted to start, but couldn't find the moolah, so stole. He had rather brute strategie, and was incredibly thick-skulleed, but that's all I thought of it.

No way! The rival says he'll take down Team Rocket alone without your help before one of the Rival Battles(in the Goldenrod Underground). That means he's after Team Rocket. Like, if he's Giovanni's kid, he would have been a Team Rocket member by now, right?

371T3 makes a point and also you can't forget that GSC happened 2 years after RBY, and the Rival would be probably too young (I said probably, I don't know how old he is in GSC, i'm guess 10).

I don't think the GSC Rival is Giovanni's Kid, maybe in DP or something his kid will be in it.
