Mudget your cruel using a good pokemon like Salamance as a HM slave.

nicyoranny was the one who used a lvl.100 Salamence and he REALLY wasted time training an HM slave.

I feel framed.. I don't use HM slaves, I just teach the more important HMs (Fly and Surf) on my regular team, then have my Heracross in my PC for Cut, Strength and Rock Smash, or my Steelix in my PC with Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Strength and Cut. In Sapphire, Zigzagoon was my HM slave (I was shocked to find it could learn Surf)

Between Bibarel and Skarmory, you can get all eight HMs.

Why not use a Ditto?

I don't get much into competitive battling, (and I didn't really know that HMs suck until recently) so I just dispersed them between 5 of my pokes. There's always the move deleter, right?

well I have sappire and emerald and in sappire I have latias and sharpedo with all 8 but in emerald I dont want to waste my latios anyone have a suggestion of two others that I could use

I've just started using Rampardos for my HM slave... Somehow I knew he could use surf!!

I also disperse some of the other HMs to others

Mine is Charizard (dont worry its not my main charizard).
It knows Defog, Rock Smash, Rock Climb (eventually), and fly.
My Empoleon has surf so and my giratina has strength. Its all good

id have to agree thats its bibarel, though i dont carry one around (it looks really stupid!!!) but that may be the best

i use an azumarill............rock smash,waterfall,surf,and rock climb

I have a bibarel and a hacked mew my brother gave me. It works pretty well, only needing two slots for 8 hms. But you still need another for dig, though...

I stick to either Gyarados or Bibarel, with Fly on my team's Crobat and Rock Climb on my Garchomp for the time being (will replace that one with a properly trained one later). I don't waste time using Defog, which is about as pointless as Flash despite the latter getting downgraded!



Something of note that you guys might like to try out - you might be able to trap yourself in the game with careful choice of HM slaves.

You need to be able to access the northwest island, and not have traded for the Meister's Magikarp. Grab a Lumineon and teach it Surf, and another Pokemon that has Rock Climb, but either has a moveset filled with HMs or can't learn Surf. Don't bring anyone else.

You see where this is going. Bonus points if you never picked up a Rod in-game, because then you can't even fight Pokemon to level up and evolve Magikarp!

I use a Whiscash HM slave for Rock Smash, Surf, Waterfall, and Strength.
My Torterra knows Rock Climb, Garchomp knows Cut, and my Pidgeot knows Fly and Defog.

Problem: One day..."Whiscash wants to learn FISSURE!!!!!!!!!!" and I'm low on heart scales and don't know what I'd give one of the HM moves to!

I agree with Kidsvill. Bibarel's weird and I wish I never saw one!

I like to use Bibarel and Charizard.

Bibarel: Surf, Waterfall, Rock Climb, and Cut

Charizard: Fly, Defog, Strength, Rock Smash

I use Bibarel for Cut, Rock Climb, Rock Smash, and Strength; my old Golduck for Surf and Waterfall; and my old Staraptor for Fly. I didn't bother with Defog at all. I just preferred to stumble through foggy areas instead of getting another Pokemon to teach Defog to.
