I chose Chicorita because the starter pokemon are these games way of saying "beginner, intermideate, and expert" the more gyms your starter can beat easily, the easier the setting, and this jus going by the Johto Gyms: Cyndaquil can beat Bugsy, Whitney (if you teach it Rollout), Morty (if you teach it Dig), Jasmine, and Pryce (unless he uses a water or ground attack), giving Cyndaquil a total of 5 gyms that it can beat, making him beginner. Totodile can beat Morty (if you teach it Dig), and Clair (if you teach it Ice Beam or Blizzard), making it intermediate. and Chicorita is weak against Falkener and Bugsey (doesn't mean that I haven't beaten them with my Bayleef after training with the Unown), can just barely beat Moty with Mud-Slap, Strong against Chucks Poliwhrath and Jasmine's Steelix, and will be beaten by Pryce and Clair, making Chicorita the hardest.

I picked Cyndaquil becaus Typhlosion could whoop any of you any day! Also, fire is the best, fire beats Grass, fire beats Fire, or does Fire beat fire?, and fire beats water, fire also beats Leet For, because he chose Chickypie just because he's expert, a wise guy in silver once said, "good trainsers fight with their favorites..." Follow that advice, you seem like a 5er.

Ha! Wish that was true, anybody with good skills and fire, can whoop water, or, in reality, start a gas fire, spray some water on it and watch what happens.

I picked squirtle first in red version, so I went with the water again in Crystal. (Even though I liked both Chikorita and Cyndaquil more than totodile...)
