 How do you make avatars for your profile?!

You can make avatars in any image editing/creating program, such as MS Paint and Gimp. Refer to this guide in the Fan Art section for more details, and also take a look in that forum, as I believe several other how-to guides have been made there. I'm not very knowledgeable about this subject, however, so if any members who are good at art have something to contribute, please do.
