Good evening.
Has anyone bought any albums lately? Not necessarily ones that have been recorded recently, but perhaps you've bought an album that has been out years.
I was just wondering if anything has made an impact on you.
Actually, do people still buy albums there, or is downloading in the US as serious as the media here makes out?
Meanwhile, what are you top ten favourite songs and albums? Hell, artists as well, while we're at it.
Artists:
1. Alice Cooper
2. The Damned
3. The Rolling Stones
4. The Stranglers
5. The Buzzcocks
6. The Sex Pistols
7. The Cure
8. Iggy Pop
9. The Clash
10. Idlewild
Studio albums:
1. Dragontown - Alice Cooper (2001)
2. Brutal Planet - Alice Cooper (2000)
3. The Last Temptation - Alice Cooper (1994)

8. Killer - Alice Cooper - (1972)
9. The Cure - The Cure (2004)
10. Never Mind The Bollocks - The Sex Pistols (1977)
Original songs:

Well, I don't listen to a lot of music, and as such don't have many favourite albums. I borrowed Ben Lummis's CD off a friend, he's the New Zealand Idol winner fyi. Otherwise I usually tune into our local music channel and watch the songs for a while.
But I do have 10 currently favourite songs:
1. Suteki Da Ne - Nobuo Uematsu, FFX
2. Trance Remix - Matrix Reloaded
3. They Can't Take That Away - Ben Lummis
4. You Get What You Give - Nu Radicals
5. The Reason - Hoobastank
6. Nyasu No Paati - Pokemon (Jap)
7. One Way - Hillsong
8. My Immortal - Evanescence
9. For The People - Nesian Mystik
10. Yesterday - NZ Idol Top 10
Some other songs I quite like are Roses (Outkast), I Believe In A Thing Called Love (The Darkness), This Love (Maroon 5) and Let's Get It Started (Black Eyed Peas).

Last CD I bought is Ayreon - The Human Equation.
It's a Metal Opera , something that I've been really getting into.
It's actually the first CD that I've bought in quite some while.
I've been spending too much money on other things I guess.
About downloading music , I don't.
But other people I know do do that , so I sometimes ask them to download some music for me that I like.
Like the most recent one ; The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony.

You could basically copy KN's list for me. We're a little different but not much. I listen to classic rock, punk (both classic and a bit of the new "pop-punk"), and some metal too (Metallica!). And there's always Weird Al...

Many men is an amazing song, I like the Rap/Hip Hop Genre once you get around the profanity most of the songs are poetic. I do believe most of peoples favorite songs might have to do with were they live. I live in New York City, so im exposed to a little of everything, and like a little of everything.
Currently in my car I have:
Linkin Park (HT, R, M)
System of a down (Toxicity)
Disturbed (the Sickness)
The Black Eye Peas (Elephunk)
Ludacris (Chicken -n- Beer)
Chingy (Jackpot)
and some Reggaeton (Spanish Reggae)

Atleast the mucicians in Blur know how to play an instrument, compose a song and write good lyrics... 50cent is only an image, no musical talent at all...

aww be nice, it doesn't matter if some one can do something themselves if they don't have the image to sell albulms.
Most of what 50 cent has on his albulm is written by himself because its personal experaince (like how every is tired of him saying he was shot 9 times).
again it has to do with were your location is, I have no Idea who the blur is ( I might like them if i hear them) , but i can name the last 3 singles from 50 cent.
The thread poster wanted to know what we listen too, so if everyone is going to criticize I would just have to make post disapear  I don't want to do it but I will if I have to.
so lets have some fun.

Well, my favorite groups would probably have to be
Disturbed
System of a Down
AC/DC
Beastie Boys
They Might Be Giants
Metallica
Orbital
The Crystal Method
Duran Duran
The Rolling Stones
Lo Fidelity All-Stars
Gorillaz
Paul Oakenfold
Front Line Assembly
Bloodhound Gang
Pearl Jam
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
As you can see, it's rather diverse...
Though I usually like most things I hear on the radio (except the "new rock" that all sounds the same, "gansta rap" which all sounds the same, country, which is about either beer or divorce, and other stuff i haven't had the displeasure of hearing)
Very few new bands today sound original. Hell, the most original rap groups I've heard are Oukast and Blackeyed Peas, because they don't talk about "bitches, hoes, and shooting cops for their bling bling" and I honestly haven't heard a good rock group in a while, on account of there are pretty much only 2 kinds of new rock. The attempt to sound angry that only distorts the microphone, and the attempt to sound thoughtful and deep, but either sound completely lame, or corporate.
rant done!

Agreed on the earlier point. The Stones make better music than anyone, but they don't have the image anymore.

No but they are making music. Making music is not about selling albums, it's about renewing and improving your play. It is meant to express yourself in an artistic way.

Thats nonsense, where I live most people are into trance (form of houe), hiphop and hardstyle (another form of house). I am one of the few 'Rockers'.

Why would a discussion be a bad thing? That's what you do on message boards right? I mean we can al start making a giant lit of bands that we like but that's pretty mindless...
Look, I don't mean to start an argument but discussions about musical taste can be very interesting.

There is a good chance that a discussion will only descend downward into an argument b/c musical taste varies and we all feel very strongly about what we like and dislike . . .but it may not too. . .

I hate those type of disected post, i would do it but youd allready contradicted yourself about twice.
Yes its an Open forum to discussion, but we don't have to Criticize to the point that flaming would just be a few post away.
And to be honest when i had my old car i would turn the radio off just to hear the music from the engine, Best music ever in my opinion.

i dunno . . as far as production 4 cylinders go the neon srt-4 has the nicest sounding engine out there. . .the whoosh from that turbo is amazing . . subarus sound cool too. . .as for modified i would have to say an old toyota 4-age with seperate throttle bodies and a very low restriction exhaust would be my number one choice for best sounding engine. . .

I don't really have a favorite group or anything. Sometimes I'll like listening to one song by one person and one by another. But if I did have a favorite group it would have to be Linkin Park. I enjoy a lot of their music.
