I am not really sure what which one I will get. The NDS has all these cool features and can play all the old Gameboy games, though I have a PS2 and that also looks cool. I can't decide, can you?

$150 for a dual screen gaming behemoth, or $300 for Sony's crappy try at a handheld? DS baby.

By the way, DS doesn't actually stand for anything. Just DS, not Dual Screen or Developer's System.
Back to the subject at hand, both systems have their pros and cons:
DS:
+Nintendo has experience w/ handhelds
+Backwards compatible
-Costs $50 more than the GBASP (probably)
-Two screens may be slightly confusing
PSP:
+Will have versions of PS2 games
-Sony inexperienced with handhelds
-Costs more than a full console (assuming it will sell for $200)
Obviously the main con with each is the price. Because of that, I will most likely not be buying either of them. However, if price didn't matter, I would have to go with the DS, because it should be a better quality handheld than the PSP.

Also the PSP screen is suposed to be as bright as a laptop or PDA think about the battery just being sucked dry from that alone. Not to mention that it will a specail mini CD and that little disk spinning and loading will help kill that battery life not to mention might be a little on the noisey side.

From what I have read, researched, and seen the Nintendo DS takes the cake. I mean who wants a PSP with the expected battery life of 2 to 20 hours. I mean seriously! If I wanted a $300 system I got it for Christmas a few years ago (that would be the Xbox and the PS1 years ago - and yes they cost that much, you would know when you're on your thrid one ><). Nintendo has been in the gaming buisness longer than Sony and frankly I have had a SNES and a GameBoy in those hands longer than the crappy Sony controllers (er.. I have two bad ones).
Plus I like the games that are coming out with the NDS, Animal Crossing DS anyone? ^_- Plus a whole ton of other games making their way to it. But the thing is the DS, two screens? It is just taking gaming to a new level, 'cause frankly taking gaming to a level isn't making a game system also be a DVD player and a stero. That is like having thoughs Fax/Scanner/Printer machines and thoughs are quite a pain in the ass to work.
Lastly before I get someone screaming at me how Sony biased I am, let me just say this. I have gone through 3 PS1 and 3 PS2. Not because I left the thigns on for a week straight it was because when I opened that box they either a) didn't work for some strange reason, b) there was a MASSIVE welding job done to the bottom of it or c) it decided to stop working after a good solid year. Don't get me wrong, I love the games they have on there, but I have extremely bad luck when I buy the actual system.

yeah, you'd need a small town's power supply to power it. not to mention it's CD based, and portable CDs skip. (even with shock protection) Meanwhile the DS has the potential for convenience and innovation. Not to mention DS's backwards compatability and such. PSP is gonna be so full of stuff that it'll end up like the N-Gage: crappy and unwanted.

I was thinking about that this morning, though unfortunatly if you have seen the box on the psypoke home page it does say gameboy advance, so it is very likely that it will be on the GBA. O well, by the time Emerald is released here the DS would be a few months old. Maybe the 4th genration or Electric/Thunder Yellow maybe on the DS if they are made.

IMO they aren't comparable. The PSP has a built in camera and mp3 player. Considering this, it's more likely to be in competition with the iPOD than it is with the DS.
Emerald will be a GBA game I think, if it comes to English, and the 4th generation will be the first Pokemon game on the DS.

in the past (i.e. g/s) it was dual compatability, and catered to those without a GBC as well as those with one. Also, with the Legend of Zelda Oracle games, it was a GBC game with special things that you can only do with a GBA. so it could be either a GBA game with DS features...
and yeah, it IS more like an Ipod. thankfully Nintendo isn't trying to pump all other sorts of technology and are sticking to just a game system...

The DS looks way cool! ^_^ The dual screen thing is so neat! It's got touch screen action! It takes portable game systems to a whole new level! So I vote DS! ...I never got a GBA SP... but I do have the game boy player for the gamecube and it works just like a GBA SP but it's on a waaay bigger screen. Anyway, back on topic... ^_^;; I would probably get the DS when it comes out, but it would cost all my money! O_O; So maybe I would just have to wait until they have sales on it or something... O_o

I will probaly go for the NDS. I am very confused though ? ? ? ?
Also, I have been wondering for a long time about why it has two screens.
Can you play two games at once or something???
Can anybody tell me why?

I've seen video's of the NDS in action, one screen would be game play and the other a map or a second angle. But with a second screen you can uncluter the main screen of HUD(Heads Up Display) stuff.

According to what I've seen and heard, NDS sounds much better.

Its perfect for some and not for others.
Some people would want the PSP because they can load movies and MP3s on magic stick and watch it on the large and bright PSP screen
NDS for price.
And then another deciding factor would be the game selections, NDS should be backwards compatible (GB, GBC, GBA games should work) and the PSP would need PSP specific games.
So just do your homework, Research what games you want, which ones your freinds would get (for linked games) and then $$$.
Im going to go with NDS because PKMN, WiFi, and price.

Well, I despise Sony with every fiber of my being, so I'm just hoping the PSP will an enormous failure, which it may end up being.
But yeah, the DS looks really awesome. I may even buy one since I'll have the money.
