When I refer to the "original trilogy", I mean, of course, Episodes IV, V and VI. Normally, when people refer to the "trilogy", they mean Episodes IV, V, and VI. I guess it's generally considered that Star Wars is in fact composed of TWO trilogies: Episodes IV, V and VI serve as one, while episodes I, II and III serves as the other. This is due to the large gap between the release of the two trilogies, thus seperating them. Hope I've answered the question.

Great review. I'm going to see it on Saturday for my friends birthday party. I hope I'm "blown away" too.
PS: This is probably thel ast you'll see of me for the next couple days. Our comp is having problems, so it is being taken away for a while.

ye it was a great movie. i ended up watching the midnight showing (12:15) on the 19th and i got like 3 hours of sleep so im actually a bit mentally incapacitated rite now. i also have trouble visualizing all the parts of the movie but they'll come back eventually.
i did have some issues with the script and the acting.
ian mcdiarmid does a great job of appearing disturbingly evil, but the long, overrepeated "gooooood"s were excessive. i absolutely loathed the scene where anakin turns to the dark side in about 5 seconds. One minute he's crying over windu's death, "what have i done" and the next he immediately turns placid and says "i will do whatever you ask" followed by the strange "out-of-place" goooooooods the chancellor impresses upon the audience.
i also disagree with your review of hayden christensen. i felt that towards the latter part of the movie, his acting worsened. instead of showing you that he's angry with realistic human emotions and tone, he forces an unnaturally contorted face which basically serves as a giant sign that reads "look at me. i am angry." not every evil character filled with hate has to glare all the time, with pupils oddly rolled back at the far corners of his/her eyes, but hayden decides that this facial expression will be his visage for the last tragic hour of the movie to describe every "bad" emotion ranging from anger, pain, sadness, confusion, and hate.
drama is not played out with dialogue (between anakin and padme) but is rather conveyed through scenery, events, and the amazing music of john williams. in contrast to hayden and portman's thankfully short "i hate you", "i love you" scenes of romance, scenes like the "execute order 66" and the tragic loss of the jedi temple with anakin at the sith helm, and moving lines from williams' score really captures the essence of the tragedy.
final comments: jar jar binks should not have been in the movie despite his lack of speech. r2d2, yoda, and obi-wan finally get the glory they deserve, and the ending was brilliantly orchestrated. hayden's last scene at the foot of the lava and his contorted expressions, to my surprise, works wonders in that scene (and only in that scene). 2 suns of tatooine and the intended deja vu from new hope is a nice touch, also.

Just saw the movie with Amphy and some friends. <b><u>Spoiler, Anakin bites Obi Wan's hand off and falls into Mt Doom with the ring.</b></u>
I thought it was a good movie. Obviously I'm not movie buff like Nido and Amphy are, but nevertheless, I enjoyed it. It was definitely better than EpII and EpI, there were some great improvements, but I still thought there were some things that could have been done better.
I'd love to say more, but I'm afraid I'll spoil some really good bits. It was great how you could see some of the characters slowly turning into their respective characters in EpIV (Especially Palpatine). The action was captivating and interesting. The acting.. was good on the most part, I thought Hayden Christensen could have done a better job in certain parts (Nooooooooo!) and at one point in the movie I felt like <i>strangling</i> him. And I thought the painted-on-buttons on Darth Vader's suit really fitted in with the EpIII -> EpIV transition
I wouldn't say it's the kind of movie I'd see repeatedly (Mind you, I don't say that about many movies), but overall, yeah, I liked it. It was good

ye i enjoyed the transitions too. i liked how they had some of the technologies in epIII archaic versions of the final product in the later trilogy, like jedi starfighter resembling tie fighters, arc-170s looking like x-wings, clonetroopers looking more like stormtroopers (and scout troopers ), and the primitive chicken walkers. it all comes to life tho in one great line that heavily deja vus back to episode IV by obi-wan: "how uncivilized"

Just wanted to let you all know that on Thursday, May 19th (yesterday), Revenge of the Sith broke the world record of highest box office gross in a single day, along with breaking the record of highest midnight screening gross. On Thursday alone the film made $50 million in the domestic box office (meaning only in North America), $16 million of that from the midnight screenings alone. The previous record holder was Shrek 2, which grossed $44 million on its fourth day, which was a Saturday. Considering that Star Wars opened on a Thursday, it actually has a chance of breaking the record AGAIN tomorrow, or Saturday, when more people go see movies. Things are looking good for Star Wars

I thought it was fantastic. My favorite Star Wars movie since Empire Strikes Back. Spoiler warning in effect . . . don't read on if you're shy.
WHAT I LIKED: Beatifully choreographed lightsaber duels (and a lot of them), Palpatine all around (he is an AWESOME villian), seeing Yoda kick lots of butt (even though he did lose in the end), seeing where everyone ended up, like Alderaan and Tatooine (no Dagobah, though; shame), getting to see how much Obi-Wan really cared for Anakin, even to the bitter end, great work on the environments (go to starwars.com and watch the webdoc on it), an explanation to the whole "virgin birth" philosophy, hearing Palpatine talk about Darth Plagueis. And I really liked Obi-Wan Kenobi a great deal all around. All through the OT, they refer to him as this legendary Jedi, but in TPM or ATOC we never got to see him do anything REALLY exceptional (okay, killing Darth Maul was something, but Maul had it coming). In ROTS, he is in his element, both in fights and in normal conversation. Much more what I was expecting. Also, it was good of Lucas to put in (though it made me flich when I saw it) Anakin using the Force choke move. Even if it was on Padme, it established the sense of cold, cruel brutality he has in the OT. Also, I liked the way Palpatine regarded Vader with fear at the very end when he tells Vader Padme is dead and everything in the room shakes and breaks. If you'll notice, he seems to shy away.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Very few others will catch this, but the Dreadnaught-class cruisers I saw in the trailer belonged to the Confederacy instead of the Republic. Every mention of Dreadnaughts in the Expanded Universe novels has them on the side of the Republic. You saw them, those long, sort of cylindrical ships? The one Anakin and Obi-Wan crashed onto Coruscant and the end of the opening fight sequence. Also, Yoda saying, "Destroy the Sith, we must." C'mon, George, the Jedi Order is in its death throes, and you can't come up with anything more dramatic for its Grand Master to say than that? Talk about melodrama. I also think they could have shown more (painful as it would have been to watch) of Anakin mowing down Jedi in the Temple. Also, Darth Vader, upon learning Padme is dead, speaks one of the most dramatic lines in all movie history: "NOOO!" George, this is your pinnacle of evil here. Give him better dialogue.
But the good SERIOUSLY outweighs the bad. See it. Overall, 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. One of my new all-time favorite movies.

Me and Crosman just got back from watching it and we were just blown away! I only saw part 4 and some of part 6, but man, I loved this movie! I'm going to watch the rest of the episodes in the next few days. Good thing Crosman is a big fan of Star Wars, and he has all of the episodes, so we're going to have a big Star Wars party.

Well here goes my mammoth review: WARNING: This of course contains spoilers. Read it and I will have spoiled the whole movie for you
War! The Republic is crumbling under attacks by the ruthless Sith Lord, Count Dooku. There are heroes on both sides. Evil is everywhere.
In a stunning move, the fiendish droid leader, General Grievous, has swept into the Republic capital and kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine, leader of the Galactic Senate.
As the Separatist Droid Army attempts to flee the besieged capital with their valuable hostage, two Jedi Knights lead a desperate mission to rescue the captive Chancellor...
George Lucas' saga finally comes to a fitting end which is both satisfying and complete.

"Just as well George Lucas redeemed himself. NOT Worst. Episode. Ever."</center>
First off I will start with what didn't work, as there isn't much of it. Firstly, the biggest thing for me was, as papersun said, the scene where Vadar asks about Padme, discovers he has killed her, and all he musters is a very clich

Actually, those aren't Dreadnaught cruisers. I will prove this to you now:
The following is an image of a Dreadnaught:
And the following is an image (not an entire clear one, but it's clear enough) of the Confederacy ships as seen in Episode III:
And another image, this one is of Greivous' ship, the one they crash into Coruscant:
Clearly, two different ships. I rest my case.

Lol, I wonder why the word "Confederacy" prompts you to want to see the movie, sanctuary
Anyways, the Confederacy's full name is the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It was formed in Attack of the Clones by Count Dooku, who is the leader of the Confederacy. In Attack of the Clones, they are referred to as the Seperatists, or the Seperatist Army. Basically, it is an organization composed of smaller institutions, who all ganged up together in order to wage war against the Republic. They're a sort of rebellion against the Republic. The organizations within the Confederacy include, as mentioned in Attack of the Clones: the Corporate Alliance, the Trade Federation (the bad guys in The Phantom Menace, with the droid armies), the Techno Union, the Intergalactic Banking Clan, and the Commerce Guild. The Clone Wars is the name of the war between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. General Grievous is the leader of the Confederacy army, and is second command only to Count Dooku.
