Musical instruments, music forum...yeah.
So, do you play any? As far as for a band, no. I have tried to learn to play the lap harp (Smaller version of a harp, sits on your lap, duh), but to no success. I can play the harmonica, though every now and then it goes "FFFZZZ!"
I recently found an old wooden flute in the spare room. I'm trying to play it, but it sounds like a dying cow...

Wouldn't posting there be necromancy TCM?
I play the piano. Or I thought I did, until I heard TonberryKing play.
Slight inconvenient, it isn't exactly... portable. But still, I like it.
EDIT: Sorry then... my mistake.

Necromancy is only bad if your post is stupid and does nothing or little to contribute to the discussion. Any relevant posts in old threads are fine.

I used to play the drums, but my mother stopped paying for lessons because I didn't practise enough.
I didn't have a drum kit to begin with, and playing on my knees didn't really encourage me to continue with practise.
Straaaaaaangeeeeellllyyyyyy enough.. Haha.
It's a pity. I'd have been pretty good by now had I kept it up.
I'd like to learn the guitar, but I have no patience for things like that.

I've recently just started the keyboard as my idol is Matthew Bellamy, an extrodinary piano/Keyboard player whos never had any lessons. He plays for the band 'Muse'. <s>The Best Band Ever.</s>
So yeah, I want to be able to play some Muse songs and other... stuff.

I got to Grade 1 on the Keyboard and then she started teaching me scales. I told her where she could shove her lessons and taught myself.
My friend says I am more than capable of passing a Grade Five test, but that means doing scales and I really can see no point in them. I mostly make my own songs (No, they do not consist of a simple melody with a single note playing bass) which are mostly the riffs and most famous part of a classical song repeated over and over with added parts and a Techno-themed backtrack.

That's a somewhat odd instrument. Is it difficult?

First off, it is not odd!

Sorry, it's just that I've never met anyone who plays the trumpet...
And yes, braces are highly annoying. Try playing the flute with them.(I tried, failed and gave up...)

I inherited my grandfather's electric keyboard when he died, but for some reason I never really played it until about a year ago (he died in 1996, just to put the timeline into perspective here). Then one day, I was like,
"Mom, where's the Casio? I feel like tinkering with it."
I found it in three parts: the stand, the wires, and the actual unit itself. These three parts were scattered in random areas around my house (under my parents' bed, in the garage, in a china cabinet) so it took a few hours to finally get it all set up.
After messing with it all afternoon, and most of the following weekend, I taught myself how to play it by ear, and as I got better I learned how to play a few songs, my first being the battle theme from Inuyasha. Then I figured out how to remix that song and make it "Miasmatized".
So now, on any given day, one can find me upstairs in my quaint little room, just plugging away at the keys. So far I've remixed about four songs and wrote a fifth. Not bad for playing by ear, eh?
The only thing that sucks is that if I don't practice a song I'm learning every single day, I forget it all and have to start over. I really need to take real lessons some day...

I know exactly what you mean! I can never remember a melody, I can remember the idea of the notes and their order, but I just can't figure each one's duration out. It is highly infuriating, and, since it takes me ages to write it on staves, I just don't bother and sing to myself the tune in an effort towards memorising it.
