A bit a both I think. Creative has made an MP3 player that can hold thousands of songs, though I heard that they are making one that can play videos of different codecs. So it can play movies, maybe take pictures, as well as music and maybe even games. It will have to have a pretty mean sized hard drive, I heard at least 100Gb! So when that comes out I will get it rather than it than a PSP (anyway I'm rich so I don't care for the price).

What about the TWO screens, not one TWO... I know what you mean though. It has all these extra stuff that you don't really need. If you buy the NDS you are pretty much buying it for the gameplay, if you want all that extra stuff you should buy it seperatly. eg A camera, MP3 player, etc.

More varied features means more things that aren't focused on and - consequently - can and will break.
Take a look at BMWs, because the same thing is happening there. They put so many gizmos and gadgets into their cars that sales have dropped - everything keeps breaking.

I agree, the PSP is trying to be all things to all people. It's like the N-Gage. I don't think it will fail quite as miserably as the N-Gage because Sony *is* more respected when it comes to gaming but honestly, who wants to watch movies on a screen that size?

well the psp is meant to have better control and it is meant to be able to play any ps2 games but you need the special cartridges/ disks but i think NDS is going all the way

Okay *cracks knuckles* *cracks neck* *cracks toes* *cracks...*
I myself am a PSP supporter, why, because I like all the features. It will most likely do better than the N-gauge, it's 50 bucks more, but i has WAY less controlls (at the mall they had the N-gauge up with Tiger Woods, it took me 5 minutes to figure out how to swing). As mentioned before it not only plays games, but also movie, photos, and songs, making it a GBA with better graphics, GB camera, MP3-player, HandWatcher (not very well known portable system for movies). Of course course what's good for one, might not be good for some, so it depends, do you want the new era without thousands of buttons squished up (gives an evil glare at the N-gauge), or do you want a VERY suped-up version of the Gameboy?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the NDS doesn't rock, it's a great system too, I just prefer the new techno way of things. Of course the NDS is revolutionary, it's not only 50 bucks cheaper than the N-gauge, but is a full hundred cheaper than the PSP. But other than the price it has touchscreen, a few buttons, good at keepin' it simple, but I personally find it annoying having to deal with the stylus and other screen. It's god its own, original start-up screen, well, sorta. And it's a all jammed into a sleek, small package! If I buy one (mainly for Diamond and Pearl), I'll wait until the new colours come out, why? Simply because the blue one looks awesome!
All prices are in Canadian Dollars, the NDS, PSP, and N-gauge were not created by me and are property of their respective owners. All comments are from mall demos, Metroid Prime Hunter on NDS, Tiger Woods on N-gauge, and a strange, unrealeased demo-game on PSP.

With PSP You have to buy the discs again to play the PS2 games on it. But with the DS the games are totally new and you can play the Advance games so I'm going for DS.

Given a choice between the two, I'd definitely say the PSP? Why? It's just better.
It has better graphics, loads of cool stuff packed onto it, it's WAY prettier than the DS, and you could drop an anvil on it and it'd still survive.
The game selection is far better, too. Honestly, the DS just does NOT have that many good games yet. The controls are often pretty flimsy for them anyways.
I am, and will always be a nintendo fanboy, but I'm big enough to admit when someone has outdone them.
The battery life is pretty bad, true, but I can overlook that. I don't plan on spending 2-20 hours a day on my games anyways. *shrug*

Well I like the PSP, because the games so far have been better. I just took the Twisted Metal game, for a spin and I was impressed. I'll have to go with PSP.

Emerald will be a GBA game I think, if it comes to English, and the 4th generation will be the first Pokemon game on the DS.
THE PSP DOES NOT HAVE A BUILT IN CAMERA!!! I know because i have one! If anyone wants to know anything else about it, ask me! If anyone votes DS,

Thats good, but i have a Pocket PC to do most of what you said, so i will still mostlikely get the NDS. On my Pocket PC I can download emulators and play most of the games that I grew up on and love like Super Mario Bros. And others.

NDS is horrible, go for PSP if u know wat ur talking bout.
PSP = music, video, upgradeable memory drive, ps games (not cartoony nintendo sry kids  ), etc. etc.
NDS = nintendo accesories w/ no big advantage in storage or memory, game-exclusive machine, two screens that have u looking both ways, touch (im sry to say the only big advantage over psp).

i would rather have a PSP becouse it looks way better and has alot better graphics. But all the new pokemon games are going to be on the DS, but i am really not sure what is going on with the whole to screens. So in the end i will probably get the PSP or both if possible (not likely) .

I'm still more than happy with my DS. I'll admit the PSP has better graphics, but who cares?!? Graphics don't make games, people, and if you think that, you are a sad, shallow individual.
Gameplay is always more important than graphics. The fact of the matter is, DS has more gameplay.
PSP is just releasing games I already own for my PS2, and I'd rather play them on a big screen plugged into the wall than on a 4" "wide"screen with 3 hours of battery life.
The DS on the other hand is inovative. Even the re-released games are different because of the expanded memory and touchscreen control. Plus, there's brand new games. Feel the Magic and Warioware are unlike anything ever seen before.
Granted, I'll admit that right now, the library leaves more than a little to be desired. BUT, there's a massive list of upcoming games. Animal Crossing DS looks amazing; the AC we all know and love in portable, wireless form.
Besides that, no device should be this "omnidevice" stuff they're going for. I own a PS2. You know what I use it for? Playing games. I've never put a CD in it, never brought a DVD anywhere near it. I have a CD player (5-disk changer, actually) and a DVD player (built into the surround sound system) that I use to play CDs and DVDs. I want my video game systems to play video games. I don't want to pay for worthless features that try to take the place of devices I already own.
The PSP is the same way. It plays music. Big deal. So does my MP3 player, crappy as it is. MP3 player's a lot smaller too. It plays movies. So does my portable DVD player. And, unlike the PSP, the portable DVD player actually plays the DVDs I already own, not some UMD disk containing a movie I bought 3 years ago. This ties into the upgradable memory. You have to use Sony's memory sticks. But, you can put a DVD on there using your computer. That's cool. Too bad you need to buy the $250 1GB stick to fit a whole movie on. Sorry, but if I'm not paying $15/disk to rebuy all my DVDs in PSP format, there's no way I'm paying $250 for a little card that I can lose at the drop of a hat to transfer those DVDs onto.
My DS doesn't have a single dead pixel on either screen. I hear the PSP averages 4 dead pixels a unit. And that's just the average. So, if you got one without any dead pixels, your friend's must have 8. Sucks to be your friend. Plus, having 2 screens on the DS opens up numerous features. And, being so close together, if you play for more than 30 seconds, they seem as though they're one "tallscreen" instead of two.
Size is another issue. The DS easily fits into my grip. I've got rather large hands, but I'm a thin guy; my shoulders aren't more than 2 feet apart. Holding the PSP makes me feel like my arms are being tugged in opposite directions and my shoulders are about to pop. I can't feel comfortable playing it. Same with the button layout; doesn't work for me.
Pizza's done; more rantage later.

The standard level of games is the same for both systems, saying one that one system has better games than an other one is complete balony, because it is still the early stages of production and most games are created for both platforms. Graphics, the only thing the PSP is better at than the DS. Though the DS runs smother than the PSP since it is a cartrige and the PSP is a UMD. Colors, no one cares about colors, aslong as it has the three primary ones, it's good. MP3, I can buy an 1GB iPod shuffle, and a DS along with a game, and it is still cheaper than the stand-alone PSP system, no one cares that it has a mp3, there is no real innovation.
You say better than than everything, well you don't think about, everything. For starters, battery life, the battery life in a DS it up to 10 times longer than the PSP. Load time, PSP is about a miunte for each game, DS... what Load time? There are so many others things that I could tough on, I could create a book. Just in case you hadn't noticed, the DS has two screens, just think, you could be talking to a friend on Picto-Chat while you are watching your favorite episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. Goodday!

Definately, I still play my GSC even though I own the other new ones, the newer ones aren't as good, since the land isn't as big and I dislike the EVs.

I agree, I'd rather play on my TV, than a portable, it seems stupid that they are re-releasing old games like Twisted Metal.

Touchscreen seems like a bad idea to me, since if you get a used one, it will have tons of scratch marks, meaning you'll have to buy a New one, since you can't trust an old one because of damage to the screen.
For my vote: neither, I can live, I see no reason to spend 150$ on a DS or 250$ on a PSP, they're just new systems with some New games and alot of re-releases.
Plus the older games were better, since you weren't so restricted (I.e Cheats, Glitches, etc.)
