I am fiercly anti-cheating in Pokemon. Partly because I don't have any cheating devices, but also because I think that if you can't be bothered to raise a decent team by hard work, then you can't appreciate a good game. I'll probably get flamed, but that's my two pennies! (Yes, I know that it's cents!)

Cheating is wrong; Though I do it for fun on my cheat-game and get modest Raikous and stuff.
If you can't be bothered to raise a good team by working hard; Find another game to play...
Also, Mew's and Deoxys' not caught at the proper area have no linking ability; can't be used in link-battles, trades nor even be used at all in-game. (Although if you're dumb you can EXP. Share train it to Lv:100)
And cheating causes glitches (As about everyone knows  ), corruption and may stop your game cartridge from working ever again.
So, the moral is; Don't Cheat!
thxbai.

Lol, me too.

I meant if you activate a cheat code to find them in the wild, then, you cannot trade etc.
Frost has a point though, it is impossible to get a good HiddenP, max DVs, proper nature pokemon. And I do get sick of breeding Bagons to get an adamant with at least each DV over 15, I've hatched 120 Bagons, yet only one is adamant, and has very bad DVs. So in that case, I'll be forced to cheat soon enough.

I own a GS and an AR, and before I learned of the Tournament, I used them a LOT. Now, I've hidden them, and am working hard to get rid of my sharked Pokemon that have no worth.
I know cheating was wrong, and it screwed up my game (well, not really for Emerald apart from 2 bad eggs, but on FireRed my TC is seriously messed up), and I can't enter the tournaments with most of my games. The only one that I don't recall using GS on was my Ruby version, which my cousin bought for me at Christmas. (Thank you, Emily!! )
Oh, and btw, a Gamesharked Mew at Faraway Island is tradeable. Believe me, I have a Mew on XD because of that. (Also, everything older than Ruby version (like G/S/C) I haven't sharked because I don't have a shark for them. )

Cheating is fun
Except when it mucks up yur game and gives you infinite of all items including Safari balls outside of the Zone and 999 Bicycles.
I used my Action Replay to get to Birth Island and officially get Deoxys and Jirachi was found on Route 21 apparently (So was Mew)
It's useful if you accidentally released say, a Milotic and want another.
It's good to get a Feebas/(Other Rare Pokemon) with the nature you want this way.

For those of you who complain and say things like "ZOMG THER R A BAD EGG IN MY GAEM OH GNOES" - I think it serves you right, and you have absolutely no reason to complain.
Anyway, I have mixed feelings on this one. I'll admit, I have cheated in my Ruby version before, but all I cheated for was vitamins, heart scales, rare candies, and 99 of every TM/Berry. I think its retarded that you only get ONE of some TMs and berries. I've also cheated for Deoxys and Jirachi. I am never going to be able to make it to a Nintendo Event, so I'll never get those Pokemon. As for people cheating for the legendary dogs and Lugia/Ho-Oh, or EV pumped level 100 Pokemon, that is wrong.
I've only used a gameshark about...two times, and I have never seen a bad egg or a "fatal glitch."
Edit: Poll edited to include a better option.

Oh fucking please.
I proudly use an AR. Why? Because I play Netbattle. You know, that program that all serious Pokemon battlers actually use. The program that allows you to fully control your Pokemon's nature, EVs, DVs, HP type, and attacks. There's none of this in-game crap where you have to go, "ZOMG Let's run around the world looking for the 1-in-5902942 possibility of finding a Pokemon with a perfect Hidden Power, DVs, and nature LOL!1!" And then after that, you have to go through the PAINSTAKING process of EV training. All of this is perfect on an RSBot or Netbattle, because you can modify these things as needed. In the games, if you screw up on EVs, you have to start all over. I only have R/S, so EV negating berries in Emerald mean nothing to me. Without cheating, it would probably take 300+ hours to find ONE Pokemon that a serious battler would actually use. Never mind actually building it up, or breeding to get useful moves on it.
I don't shark on 999 stats on any of my Pokemon, nor do I make them invincible to damage, nor do I give them movesets like Spore, Lock-On, Sheer Cold, Mean Look. People who abuse like AR like that are strictly eight-year-old n00bs. It's not my damn fault that Nintendo made the in-game RPG aspect of Pokemon IMPOSSIBLE as far as actually getting what you want. I use the Action Replay for the following things: encountering level 0 Pokemon (to catch or battle for EVs), encountering six specific Pokemon that give out +3 EVs in each of the six particular stats (for EV training), encountering Pokemon with specific natures and perfect DVs (for catching.) Pretty much, I'm using the Action Replay to reach the LEGAL LIMITS imposed by Nintendo. I still raise my Pokemon normally from level 0, and I don't use AR to break the game.
Stop acting like everybody that uses a "cheating device" is some kind of villian.
P.S. Krispy, you can't cheat for Pokemon that have EVs filled out. D:

Yeah, I'm with Frost and Krisp on this one. I wouldn't use it to make noobish movesets or get 999,999,999 rare candies, but I don't see anything wrong with using it to obtain Dex data for pokes that you would normaly need a Nintendo event to get, or to get more copies or a TM. It's not like I can go out and battle anyone anyway; I live out in the boondocks. If I realy want to battle, I'll reinstal NetBattle.

It depends really, on what exactly you are using the cheat for. Like what was said before; if you use a cheat to obtain infinate master balls or rare candies, there is no point in playing the game - games weren't made for cheating. However, if your certain you'll never manage to go to a nintendo event and you use it to get a lengendary pokemon e.g. Jirachi its perfectly understandable. Its completely up to the player, they can cheat until their game breaks.

I cheat to EV train and because its cheaper to get one game and a cheat device versus buying all versions of the Advanced Gen. pokemon games, at least two GBA's/DS's, a game cube, pokemon colusseum/XD, the special link cable, and playing through either FR or LG twice to get all three legendary beasts and all Kanto starters, Emerald or XD twice so you can get all three GSC starters, trading them back and forth for trading evolutions (Alakazam, steelix, scizor,...), and going to the Nintendo events to get the legendaries.
Cheat device=less time and more convience.

I did all those things exect the two GBAs/DSs..I use my GCN and a link cable Well, my friend cheated so much that he had a box full of Badeggs...
I dont have a cheating device, but I wish I did, for as everyone else said, theres a REALLY LOOOOOW chance youll encounter the perfect Pokemon (I have a Modest Houndoom with 31 in A, SA, and HP, 26-7 in SD, and 4 in D. So I consider myself pretty lucky.).
meh, all the people who go "OH NOES, YOU CHEATED SO YOU CAN BURN IN THE FIERY ABYSS OF HELL"....
And I am obsessed about my Dex. While I try to do everything legitiamtely, its hard to do so. How do you think people got ripped sprites? They used *insert thing I am not supposed to discuss here* to do it.
So, my views on cheating; As long as you dont go overboard and its for the greater good, go ahead and cheat.

With single player games like pokemon, where there's not much player interaction aside from you and real-life friends, I don't really have a view on cheating. If owning a level 255 mewtwo with Haipar Beem floats your boat, well, you're the one who paid for the cartridge. Do it or don't do it, depending on which you find more fun. It's your game, none of my business.
But with the nintendo DS, the next pokemon game will likely have wifi capabilities, and with an international community of people, most of whom have to train their pokemon the old-fashioned, "legal" way, cheating stops being a personal preference and starts to affect everyone. People who own gamesharks get a huge advantage, and that wouldn't be fair to the battle records of people who don't use such aids. It's like the difference between using steroids to beat your personal track record, without participating in any competitive events, versus using steroids in a professional sporting event.

I dont see the bad thing in cheating. I want to use it for EV training because battling Shuppets at lvl. 24 is very annoying. so that is my view on cheating and unless I see one good reason why this is a prob. I will gladly change my mind.

I feel that cheating in any game is lazy. People who find the game to hard and can't be bothered to do it just use cheats to say to their mates "Ye I completed that game". To play a game you must use your raw skill and not rely on a magazine that gives codes. If people cheat on games to complete them then I feel that is wrong but if you use cheats for fun like to get strange pokemon like shiny Mew then that's O.K. As the saying goes: It's better to be beat, than to cheat.

Pumping up PKMN with cheats is wrong, simply because you accomplished nothing by doing so. Getting PKMN by cheating is alright only if you can't obtain them ingame, like Celebi and Mew.
I think cheating is alright if you find it more fun and don't use them against anyone.
Never use cheated PKMN on your friends...or else...they will hate you for it.

I tend not to use cheating devices. Unless im desperate for a legendary. I feel proud when I a good pokemon team that can beat all my friends'.
You can use cheats, just don't go cheats mad, it's stupid, in my opinion.

I'm a no go with cheats mainly because i don't have the nessassary devices but also because I was unlucky enough to get a Jolly Raikou and i am now restarting the game to get a modest or timid one.
Basically anyone that is lazy enough to use cheating devices that can be accomplished in-game should find a different hooby.

Cheating can be very useful, as in the case of getting unobtainable Legendaries like Mew and Celebi, or even Pokemon like Steelix and Scizor, if you are unable to trade. However, if one exploits the cheats to, say, make a powerful team to beat his/her friend in a battle, that should be frowned upon.
In short, it all depends on the objective of cheating. If it is for your own personal satisfaction, by all means; after all, you own the game and no one has the right to dictate how you play it.

No. Cheating runis the aspects of the game. Whats the fun in saying you got all Pokemon without actually deserving it without hard work and hours of fustrasion (Like in Feebas' Case)? I cant begin to say how much I despise cheaters. Thats why I hate Gameshark/Action Replay also.

Honestly, cheating is okay in some ways. Getting Nintendo Event pokemon: A-OKAY! For EV training: A-OKAY!
Basicaly, cheating to help complete the pokedex, to get level 0 pokemon to train, to get multiple berrys and TMs, and even some Master Balls, in my opinion, is perfectly okay.
Also, i'm never gonna get to go to a Nintendo Event, so cheating is the only way to get all 386 pokemon.
Those should be the reasons you cheat. When I was nine my friend told me about Missingno, I cheated for Master Balls. Next thing ya know i'm throwing these things left and right at every pokemon I saw.
Also, if anyone could tell me were to get a GS or an AR, can you tell me? All this talk about cheating for a good cause has me in the mood.
If you do i'll do something nice for ya.
Edit: We don't need that kind of language. Please keep your posts clean. ~Krisp

Amazon or eBay, dude. Anyway, all you people mention the EV thing, but I say that if you can't be bothered to EV train, and hatch natures then you won't get as much satisfaction. Recently, I spent days hatching an Adamant Shuppet. And you know what? I feel better for it.

Lol x100. Trust the administrators to set a good example for little kids.
If you really want to fully appreciate the game for what it is, then don't cheat. If you feel that you can't get all the Pokemon without trading, then gets some friends. If you want to train your Pokemon till they have maxed out stats for competitive battling, use NetBattle. Simple.
The only instance in which I have cheated was to get those attack backgrounds. =)
EDIT: No, I'm not referring to you, Frank.

I'm afraid, Frost, I'm going to go with DP on this. I don't usually go against the mods/admins, or anyone for that matter, but it's a bit hypocritical telling us to watch our language when you go around swearing about an unimportant topic. As I have said, I respect your authority and power, but just remeber to practice what you preach.

I also agree with DP.
I appreciate the game for what it is; I don't cheat, except on games that were created for the sole-purpose of getting Jirachi, Lugia, Ho-oh, and all those Nintendo Event pokemon.
I save competitive battling for NetBattle, as I've become a NetBattler (Read my occupation), but sometimes, if I really feel the need to have a competitive pokemon, I'll EV train it. But I'd never cheat to do so.
